      This is also the European rating standard which tends to be higher than EPA measures. Also we have to see real world results. If this is true - they would have to have removed a lot of weight of the CLA body. Or they just crammed a large battery in there. So for me -- efficiency ratings will matter more for me. Having said that - kudos for Mercedes for not keeping their head buried in the sand on EVs.

    • @whynotthinkwhynot-
      @whynotthinkwhynot- 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that figure is potentially elevated, and the rating when it goes on sale will be less. However, it is noteworthy that Consumer Reports in the USA bought and tested EV ranges by setting cruise control to 70 mph, 112 kph, and drove the cars to the point of needing a tow. In these tests, Mercedes EQE, EQS, EQE SUV, and EQS SUV all provided many more miles with the EQE 350 4Matic returning an extra 72 miles. In comparison, Tesla Model S LR returned 39 fewer miles than it’s range rating. Outside of the Tesla fanboy world, anyone who watches EVs knows that Tesla lies about their ranges on every model, and few people are able to achieve those ratings. This has been proven time and time again in real world testing, but you can’t prove it to a cultist. Just like you can’t prove that heat pumps do not work at temps lower than 5C, and overcomplicate climate systems for minimal efficiency gains. EVs are better off with efficient electric heat utilizing heated fluid and automatic cabin thermal monitors. The money would be better spent on laminated insulated glass, and cabin sealing. Yes, the “octovalve” is an engineering marvel, but not worth the trouble in the real world.

    Most of the them are assuming wrong things about Mercedes including this person in the TH-cam video.
    That is most of their EVs are not built on their dedicated platforms. Its not true. There were just three vehicles that are comverted. EQA, EQB, EQC ! And only one gets sold in USA.EQB that is.
    There are other five models available in USA which are developed on a dedicated EVA2 platform for electric vehicles. And their proportions speak for themselves unlike other automakers who just want to have a long hood. EQS, EQE, two suvs of the same vehicles and Maybach EQS SUV.

    Again, you forgot to mention the voltage!! - The MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) is based on an 800V architecture, just like the ne E-Actross 600 is based on a 800V architecture, unlike all of the earlier models which are based on a 400V. Notably, all of the earlier Tesla models are also based on a 400V architecture and just the Tesla Semi and (probably) the Tesla Cybertruck have a 1000V architecture. So Tesla is actually just a few months ahead, not years as many people would expect. - Now the voltage is a key factor to increase the charging speed where Tesla is currently stuck at 250kW (500A*500V). For the new Mercedes CLA they announced to charge it from 10 to 80 percent in less than 30minutes. If you consider the announced range of the vehicle that requires quite some enhancements for a stop at an HPC station.

    Heat pump should be an option. It's useful in temperate climate, but basically useless in extreme cold Canada north. With all that added complexity and cost and prone to failure when working so hard in very cold weather. Not to mention noise and vibration compared to regular resistive heater. At least heat pump equiped cars should allow user to choose which heating mode to use - heat pumo or resistive. Sometimes, when range is not a concern, but quiet and comfort is priority one should be able to turn off heat pump.

      @@Ramkumar-cn7cx yes, but is still a concept car that nobody can buy. And if it would go on sale to the public it would be super expensive. Every car company on the planet could make a car that’s outstanding. Making a one off super great show off car is something that all of them can do. The really hard and difficult part is making a production car in high number, ramping the production, delivering good enough quality and selling it at a reasonable price and still make money on it.

They have announced the numbers because it's there on the roads as test mules and they have seen the numbers.
      Secondly did you know that they use a new battery with silicon rich anode from Sola nanotechnologies for their long range ? No you don't ! So before spewing hate and misinformation it's important to be informed.
      And thirdly, it's CLA which means the vehicle cannot be 100k ! It will start at around 50k since already existing cla is 45k around. May be max 55k. Which is not that expensive. And long range can be at the max 5-7k more expensive.
