this is a true thing to listen to. as someone whos played TF2 since 2013, i been on the bandwagon for this game for ages, but it did get boring for me in terms of gamepaly, and thats why i mostly gravitated to community servers and community modes. Outside of that, I balance tf2 with many other games ive played in my life, games like The FINALS, Fortnite, Black ops 6, Astro Bot, so on, so forth. I love and always love tf2, and have always seen it as the stepping stones of artistic inspiration for my own projects, but know that if its the only thing i play, then wouldve lost my interest in the game AGES ago.
You know, it NEVER occurred to me how the more maps we end up getting, the less players are able to fill in said maps. I can understand how new maps keep the game a little more active, Valve should probably tone down the amout they're adding every seasonal update. Valve should also probably start replacing some of the current warpaints that they've added. There's so many of them.
What were they expecting from a sourcemod of TF2 that recreates TF2's 2008 build before all the source-engine downgrades and whatnot? A carbon-copy of TF2??
Tf2c did some terrible changes to the weapons the bought over from tf2. They turned the Cowmangler to an even more detestabled verison of the scorchshot.
I wish community servers didn't die. There used to be so many servers covering all different types of gamemodes. And they were always populated no matter what. Each server had their own mods, sounds, graphics, and community, even if they shared a common game mode. Freak Fortress 2 used to be HUUUUUGE back in the glory days. Now, it's a niche game mode where every server uses the same boss packs, the same small map rotations, and overall lack the charm of oldschool community. Even trade servers are all but dead for anyone not trading high value items. In the early 2010's, you could often sell a regular low value items quicker in a trade server than you could using the trade forums. Bot trading didn't exist yet, which is what killed the economy for anything that's not worth $100 or more. Nearly every aspect of this game that gave it so much charm and replayability is just a shell of it's former self. Everything except the gameplay, and the *community*. It's really the culture of the players that keep the game alive at all in my opinion. So long as the community's culture keeps being practiced that's enough to keep it going for me.
I did not fully understand this content until this video hit, While its very hit or miss, i really do enjoy the attempt at making the community more open minded and using relatable stories to resonate with viewers seems effective and is a breath of fresh air in the content landscape
I have to say tf2 isnt a game about live service or frequent updates or something like fortnite, overwatch etc its a game you play from time to time you lose you win you have fun
8:32 Ironically I'm in a opposite situation where I've always used the blutsauger as a medic main, but I've occasionally gave the crossbow a try. I still don't like using it, and admittedly I'm not that good with it and would rather be able to defend myself, but I get why most folks recommend using it (Sure I could just swing a bonesaw into somebody's face, but people tend to see that coming).

Thank you for your words. There are a lot of ideas that I have for videos but at some point, there may be a point where I want to do something new! Developing a game in 3D has been on my mind but that's a big task that will only begin when I've felt like I've done all I've done as a TF2 animator! Like a friend once said to me, it'll be a happy goodbye! Don't worry though, that won't be until far into the future.
Personally, when i got bored of tf2, i played deep rock galactic, half life 2, and i really enjoyed myself, and came back to tf2 ready to enjoy it again.
All you have to do is play different maps and game modes. Upward sucks. Payload sucks. Play some attack/defend Gorge, or altitude, or 3cp powerhouse. We have OVER ONE HUNDRED MAPS.
@BrawlinEntertaintment2K Every payload map is the exact same. Same thing every time. Payload is just attack/defend but worse in every way. Meanwhile, sure 2fort is god-awful. But try Applejack or DoubleCross. Those maps kick ass.

I've heard a theory that if they do announce that they will shut it down, it would cause an upset for their other games' economies like Dota and CS:GO so that might be the reason why it's still up. Before, the community wasn't the major source of all content. Or at least it was a 50/50 split of Valve and community content. 2017's Jungle Inferno gave us new weapons for Pyro, the 3rd campaign of contracts to earn rewards. That was the last time we ever got anything official from them aside from their approved bug fixes that still mostly come from the community. But yeah! We used to get a couple of weapons every year and class/weapon changes like Pyro getting health for extinguishing players or Spy getting some damage resistance while cloaked!

Tbh this is why I only play at scream fortress. Regular tf2 is just…depressing. It’s a shell of what it once was, and definitely doesn’t feel like the same exciting game I joined to in 2015

I need something new to play, i can't do this shit anymore. It doesn't matter how many different weapons I change to or strategies I employ, getting stomped because someone is cheating, or your own team is leaving, is just not fun anymore. When someone knows your active location as you can't even go out of spawn, and just insta kills you point blank with auto aim, what is the point of learning new aiming techniques. What is the point when my own team just leaves and makes it impossible to win at the slightest hint of trouble. I can't do it anymore, I played this game for a month and all I've learned is it doesn't matter how much I learn I'll always end up outclassed, even if I'm winning. I truly don't care about losing, I care that I don't even have the time to get a chance to win unless I'm already winning, and that's not fun anymore. It would be if I had more friends to play it with, but everyone will do what they're going to do anyways. Thought this was going to recommend a new game. But deadlock isn't going to give me any better feelings.
Something I should do is to just play some single player games but for now, I'm just playing Mario Party Jamboree with my friend! You don't have to force yourself to like the game. Like I mainly just play the game for video clips now a days but I still love the characters and themes in it. And you're right, I didn't recommend a game since there are a lot of them, but you can find fun in something else outside of games!
