Q:What camera do you use?
A: I use the Go Pro Hero 7 Black Edition primarily. Often times you will see auxillary cameras in use. Those cameras include The Go Pro Hero 6, Hero, and DJI Mavic Pro Platinum
Q: How big Is your rotator?
A: It is a 50 ton Miller Industries Vulcan 950
Q: Does the carriage slide back like Ron Pratt's?
A: No, the carriage doesn't slide back due to strict weight laws in California. The sliding carriage will make the truck to heavy in CA
Q: Why do you only have 3 winches on the rotator?
A: Comes down to weight again as stated above
Q: How many trucks Does Plaza Towing have?
A: Currently more than 30
Q: Why must the driveshaft be removed to tow a vehicle?
A: When vehicles are not running the transmission is not receiving circulating lubricant. If the driveshaft is left installed, the transmission, which is not receiving lubricant, is still spinning. This allows it to get very hot which eventually will cause major damage to the transmission. Therefore, removing the driveshaft completely eliminates the transmission from spinning. Simply leaving it in neutral is not sufficient since the transmission still spins in neutral. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
I get everyone can have a bad day, but I think that dude should get into a new career
You are so right.
Don't be so harsh, i know of guy's 30+ years in the business and had this shit happen to them. This guy will learn buy his mistake when he renews his insurance.
You obviously , have never driven one of those trucks before he had his Extensions fold it in so sometimes on a lower car or if it was just rear wheel drive it can be a hard time to get off the ramps and up over those extensions as you can clearly see in the video the car probably spun out a little bit and push them over off the ramps
@@alexpikulyakhe didn’t understand the basic width of the vehicle while loading it on the video… the ramps “could” have moved but if the tow truck driver wasn’t there he would have driven off the ramps again
@@2blkSSsexactly. If you don’t how far you are on either side you get out and look then adjust accordingly.
By the way he drove that car back up on the trailer, you can tell that he really needs to learn a lot more.
Those ramps were too narrow for safe usage.
@@RLTtizMEyou're joking right?
@@ThePinkPanth3r Of course not. They were too narrow and should have matched the width of those on the trailer. Have you always been plagued by poor judgment bro?
@@RLTtizME the ramps are designed to be slid to the width of the car, you can literally pull up, slide them in front of the tires and drive straight up.
@@ThePinkPanth3r Talk about a vacuous conversation. They are all not that narrow...so that design sucks. Have a nice day.
I wouldn't let that hot shot deliver a bicycle😂
😂😂😂
Yep 😂
At this point I wouldn’t want the car anymore
True, I would refuse delivery
Except you probably wouldn't even know this had happened to your new car..!
@@Mark-de4hj Right
@@Mark-de4hj True!
Though, imagine getting to ready to sign and this video pops up in your feed...
The one time when you thank the YT algorithm, lol.
Great job on your part but pretty certain this 5000lb vehicle was never intended to be lifted by it's wheels!
Thought that stooge was gonna do it a second time ! Jesus
Haha I was waiting for it go off the first ramp😅
If he was as careful of his driving as he was about your unloading the car he might not have needed your services . Good job .
A whole new world of super talented professionals with so much talent and technical knowledge- one wrong move and life and limbs are at stake! A 787 pilot here - hat’s off to you!
Makes me want to look at every new car I buy on a lift before moving forward.
I think we have to call Mr George on the Transporter guy 😅😅
Trent something to document for future reference is if the transporter causes damage to the inner sidewalls of the tire and the rim so they can’t blame you and so the dealership has documented proof for their customer so they can go after the transporter for damages
Hi Trent, from brand new cars to old pieces of junk you always treat every job with precision, great job well done , thank you for posting your videos
Driver needs wider ramps and better perception.
lol wider ramps? Those ramps are fine. He just sucks at what he does. He was soooo far off. But it’s a typical hot shot guy. Bet he doesn’t even have CDL
@@curtisnewman1520I’ve seen Cdl holders do wayyyyyyy dumber shit than this…. A license doesn’t make someone have common sense
@@curtisnewman1520 yeah, to be that far off I imagine he has no perception of where the vehicles tires are of any car he's driving.
I was a tech in a BMW dealer in a prior life.
If you even got within a foot of another new car, you would get fired on the spot in front of the whole crew.
This guy would have been chased off the lot before he even got the first car loaded.
I was a tech in a vw dealer in a prior life , but our lot was too small for any kinda trailers so they would unload them on the street and drive them in… I can’t tell u how many times I’ve seen the sales people point out damage
That was a cool "recovery". The Rotator was the only tool for the job. Nice work, Trent!
Thats what happens when these dealers use cheap transport companies.. trying to save money but the guy cant even load the car or his trailer.. safer on a one car flatbed.. a dealer stop using us because they said they found someone cheaper like one of these guys… the same thing happen to them and they called us back hahahah
This Has Happened to many a Professional Driver however where he is Parked Adds so much to the Stress Level and Distraction Quotient.
**Disclaimer**
I Haven't Ran a Wrecker in over 30 years and have Never Ran a Rotator/ This is Just An Observation Suggestion
There Are always Multiple Ways To Reach Ten Trent However, Even Though 1 Main Line Would Have been Sufficient with the Spreader bar; a 2 Line Approach to the Spreader Bar Would have Offset the Angle you had There Thus removing potential Damage or minimizing it and Allowed for A More Stable Lift. Where You Could have Set it back on the Trailer Appropriately.
The half ass US trailers are mindbogling to us Europeans lol. Would be very hard to find a rotator to solve this here as it's also almost impossible to happen. We have full deck aluminium trailers, most of them even roll down, so you do not even need ramps.
Shout out to South West Towing for sending the photos and calling for the big guns 😊 Perfect truck and Operator for the job!
In my younger days I drove lorry mounted cranes in London, UK. my crane was often called to crashes and lost loads. Those car transporter guys would rely on the weight of the car to hold them on the trailers, with maybe just the winch line on the front. The back end would bounce around and flip off.
I also drove Land Rovers and trailers for my brother, he did TV adds for new car releases and so we carted nice shiny models around to locations. He fitted ratchet tighteners in three locations each side of the trailers, this was before ratchet straps came on the scene. I'd always stop after a few miles and check the tightness as the cars shook down a bit.
A little trick we used was old canvas bags filled with clothing waste, we'd insert them between the wheel and the tie down or lifting strap to keep it off the body work. I've also used wooden blocks but placed on the tyre not the ali rims.
The guys that hauled new cars from the factories to dealers or the ports, 6. 8 10, at a time. Would configure their trailers to suite the models carried and the front and back tie downs would be spot on. The guys as in your video were the cowboys, always in a hurry to be somewhere else. They never checked ramps for alignment, the tie downs were crap and the drove like mad. Great for the crane guys like yourself to sort them out.
Thanks for posting and stirring a few memories.
I don't see how he is a hot shot driver if he cant load his own trailer
Mr. Literal. Losen up yo.
whew....wore me out just watching........that's a lot of work to get it unstuck.....good job
I saw this not too long ago at Fletcher Jones motorcars jamboree at the 73. Where the hot shot driver drove a sprinter off just like that. The passenger side, front wheel and rear wheel were off the ramp and the trailer.
He gets the car into that situation and is then trying to tell you how to get it off. Lol some people. Great recovery and patience
True. I think he was just worried about damage that’d be more money out his pocket.
If his boss doesn't suggest he go work for someone else, hopefully for his sake, he will pay more attention to what he is doing the next time. It's not like he was having to unload in the middle of a snow storm. I'm retired, watching from Michigan, I wouldn't want to be a driver in nasty weather, but if something like this happened, you might have a small excuse.
😣😖This is a $70,000 car. If this was mine I would have been pissed 😣
Gonna be hauling that load at a negative profit margin after that recovery.
this job could have used some of those inverted Y-shaped tire cradles like I see often used in the UK towing industry when they grab cars with a boom truck and a similar spreader bar type setup
Now we know why he went off the rails. He doesn't know what straight means. You told him tell me when the wheels are straight. He says they are now. They are slightly turned to the right
I can see the fella driving it onto the ramp has no clue or orientation whiledriving these up to the ramp... He will deliver the carwhereverhe is going, and wont say anything... So someone ends up buying it and is in for the surprise...
I appreciate you showing the tear down. That is something wrong with just don’t think about.
This car have to be discounted, and have to declare used car now😂😂😂😂
yeah I mean it's still new but I wouldn't want it after that .. the new owner will probably never know this happened though
And if you ever bought a new car you wouldn't know what that car went through to get to you.
Trent, how about a video on your brother Darrell's recovery?
If he can't load it by himself, he needs to find another career 😂
Another great rescue Trent🙂 The haulers driver needs to learn about centering the cars so the load is more balanced going down the road. I have never seen car ramps that narrow before either...light ones at that. I would not use that guys company to haul anything with wheel using those ramps. There's a reason car carrier trailers ramps are as wide as they are and one reason I think is to prevent this exact scenario.
Somebody was having a bad day. But needs to learn his trailer a lot better.
I'm kinda surprised you didn't use different length slings, to avoid crushing the front plastics and anything under them. There's always more clearance under the rear.
Even people who appear to act like they know how to do something often show they don't know how to do something. They are attempting to pick up a 3 ton vehicle not by the wheels but by the a couple of spokes on each rim....🤔
Dear lord! Didn’t seem to be the brightest. I just KNEW when he was told to drive the truck and trailer forward, he’d actually put it in reverse. Had to be told everything as there was apparently no common sense. Was told to get the ramps out of the way, but no he goes ahead and decides to reattach them back onto the trailer which still left little room to lower the car back down. Then was like he was racing it back to onto the trailer with no concept of what went wrong the first time. I wouldn’t let this dude pull my car into a parking spot.
I actually thought he was a pain in the butt. He did his job poorly and now get out of the way and let the man saving your butt do his job.
Good job on lifting that new car safely and helping him get it on his trailer!
That Lexus has top down cameras to help with placement on the ramp.
Great work as always, that rotater is a great tool
Those ramp extensions were not wide enough for that trailer. They also did not seem to lock into place very well. Then there is the whole thing about the driver not knowing what he was doing (too fast, not aligned properly, flustered easily). End result, bad hotshot driver candidate. You can tell he usually drives around wrecked vehicles being taken to autobody shops to rebuild as Salvage titles. Kudos for keeping your gear well organized before and after performing a tow.
Great job 👏
Another beautiful day in the CV. 🌞
Can tell why this happened in the first place. 16:57, driver lacks perception, his inner tire is rubbing the inside rail, he needs to bring the car a tiny bit more laterally on one side.
Way longer spreader bar would have made job easier and eliminate any rope damage to body-shell. That's how cars used to be loaded/ unloaded in ships holds before roe roe ships came along. Cars are still loaded that way ( long spreader bars with nets- ropes( for purpose cargo built ships carrying varying cargo.
Agreed! Although there was 0 damage to the vehicle, yes a wider bar would have left a much higher margin for error. Thanks for watching!
He still drove that car up the ramp like he was his first driving lesson, too fast and careless.
Had that happen at work for me they were dropping off a new car off a three car hauler rear slid and kicked the ramps out from the back leaving it to dangle off the rear dove tail
It's unfortunate. The only vehicles this guy may be transporting from now on are vehicles from wreck yards and auctions. 3 Transportation sectors i know of that are NON Bullshit are Car haulers, Gasoline/Diesel (Flammable materials) and Hazardous material Operators.
I seen many tows like this in Florida & North Carolina as Latino drivers not secure or load it correctly.
A guy operating an 18 wheeler with no common sense to stick his head out the window and look at the ramp.
You let him under the car to get ramps while car was suspended above him😂
Awesome video Trent
Smooth operator! Good job.
Watch out for the white Lexus TX nationwide now 😂
To save money, they prefer to work with these 350 Dodge Ram 3500 trucks pulling trailers that are not professional. In the end, your product is delivered in the conditions that you paid for. These trailers will never be the same as the 18 wheels.
That's a lot of money for a step stool 😂
That Lexus base price is $53,000 and can go up to over $83,000.
There’s no way I would buy that vehicle, I’m sure ole hot shot didn’t like you recording his mess up so he can’t cover that up.
Great job 👏🏼 How much does a recovery like that cost?
Suppose ya had some fuzzy sleeves on the green straps for the fenders?
Hi ,just started watching the channel, watching a few others to see the different ways of doing things and operator professional ways .
Looks good from here ,even the safety hard hat etc ,all good signs that you take the job seriously.
A couple of questions, could you use both hooks with the spreader bar? It would allow you to raise one side only until the strops are clear of rhe vehicle body bits ?
There must be some better wheel clamp/sling combo that would get the lift point out and away from the wheel ,and as with this car ,there would be less chance of body damage ?
Some sort of strong nylon plastic hub that is strapped to the wheel ,then the lifting eye centre and out !
In my view, your amongst Ron Platt , Murphy's Diesel,Casey Ladelle ,and others of rhe off road recovery guys, Matt's Off-road, Robby Layton,Trailmater , Everything Auto ,all doing different tows and recovery but in most the same methods and types of equipment,it all takes thinking and skill .
The Rotator certainly adds that new dimension to what you can achieve.
I see that you are not far from Salton Sea ,i was watching a doco on it recently, interesting and i was amazed that people can still live there, think it mentioned renewed exstration of minerals? Im sure that was said .
Cheers
Great job, is good. 👍
Oh no, that's one of the new Lexus TX too.
I wonder the condition of the under carriage? Hopefully it just dropped and he didn’t attempt to try to move it as just do more damage.
keep the clips coming
I wonder if the dealership told the new owner of this car what has happened to it?
My thoughts exactly.
Most likely not
Doubt it. Dealerships don’t care once the car is off their lot. It’s the drivers responsibility then.
Now I understand why the cheese is never centered on my mcburger.
Isn’t that Shottenkirk Desert Lexus in Cathedral City, California?
Good Job
50% off this Lexus…yikes
Want to bet the buyer of the car never heard a word about what happened?
I’m assuming that vehicle is going to be inspected for any undercarriage damage when it gets to its drop off location, right?
That undercarriage is probably ruined.
Hopefully the owner knows about this.
Oh boy! I see the new Lexus has dropped!
OMG he is absolutely terrible at driving on that lift, he definitely needs to hire help after seeing this.
Dealer need to PDI that Lexus before hand over to buyer😂
That transport driver is a disaster and should find another line of work.
Job well done 👍🏾
You don't work for NASA the step stool cannot be $5000. But you are near/in los angeles city of big high cost things.
It was a $5000 piece of equipment that he was using as a step stool. Not an actual step stool that costed that much.
nIce work.
Couldn't even drive that lexus straight while loading
If that was my car that was being delivered, I'd be highly disappointed. From the jump off the track and having the car hanging at an angle was the 1st red flag of the main delivery driver here. Then his amateur sidekick came along and rushed to get the car back up the ramp in a hastily and sloppy way. I thought he was going to ram the front end of the new lexus into the wrecked car at the top of the ramp. Like, what's the rush? Both drivers messed up. I would request a new lexus delivery. New delivery drivers and switch the lexus suv out for another. I don't want any scratches or dings on my ride. Watching this video made me cringe when all these things happened, especially when the car was dangling up in the air, too. That wouldn't have been necessary if they did things right the first time. I dont trust brand new car deliveries because u never know what they're really doing with your ride.
Makes no sense why you wouldn’t use or expand the bar on the top so the straps aren’t lifting against the body to possibly cause damage. ? Just curious why not?
Bar is fixed at the width I had it at. It is not adjustable. That would be helpful though
How much does something like this cost?
What prevented You from Booming out and setting the car on the Trailer ?
Not like that car weighs much for the tator.
Thanks Trent. Mike M.
Probably just to leave the liability on the driver. I think it's already a tricky enough trying not to ding it.
He needs a bluetooth camera to put on the trailer then he could watch on his phone as he drives on.
It’s tricky driving up these trailers.
It is....That's why you don't rush like you're an Akina SpeedStar.
A thousand bucks please.
there's a differance between a professional driver and hotshot driver still can have hot shot driver whos a professional but doing auto transport is a speciality transport have to treat it with care
I wonder what that cost that guy? I bet it wasn’t cheap & it shouldn’t have been cheap!
These wreckers normally charge $300 an hour 3 hour minimum
Just shows good help is hard to find.
Does ur tator not roll back the 5 ft of travel
It's a growing epidemic of foreigners trying to be a truck driver in America. And they seem to have more accidents than most. Not so much with our Mexican and Canadian nabors. But the people unfamiliar with our laws and vehicles. Our vehicles are larger and we drive on the left side of the vehicle and it messes with them. We need stricter tests for a CDL license like back before they made it easy for cheap help. A real driver is not less important than a construction worker and a lawyer. Everyone has something they are capable of doing, but a commercial vehicle isn't like a car or shouldn't be treated like one.
Definitely not a "brand new" car...look at those worn tires...
I like how this guy who can’t even strap a vehicle on correctly is trying to tell the professional what to do 🙄🤦🏼♀️. Dude needs to be in another line of work
What a waste of a truck for a little suv
Under carriage may be fubar.
to me, this car is no longer brand new................has to have some damage or scuffed undercarriage from how it was sitting on the ramps.
You wouldn’t believe the amount of damages these have when they’re picked up especially from rail yards. Port cars are usually damage free might find a scratch here or there.
I wouldn't take that highlander,no way give me another one, sorry.
How can a professional driver get it so wrong? I know were all human and make mistakes, but he clearly had no sense of where the centre of the suv was
My feeling is the poor guy will be unemployed the next day.
