This is one of the few vids that shows the correct way how to do this. Most only have just one safety chain in the rear of the vehicle and "sometimes" only have one safety chain in the front. OUTSTANDING!!!! A well trained operator!!!

It's interesting to see what each driver prefers to use as tie downs.

Who knew barbed wire was an occupational hazard for a tow operator. Maybe it was an aftermarket theft deterrent??? 😱
Nice video. Short, sweet, to the point. 👍

I have to assume that while the heavier truck problems are interesting, the light vehicle work drives a majority of the revenue for the business.

Awesome video! I’m liking this new style, but I’d be careful with the constant uploads, don’t burn your self out! As always stay safe.

I consider winch a tie down, but only 1 point as it's 2 points on the car to 1 point on the bed, same applies with the back, if i have 2 chains going to 1 tow hook it's 1 point because it's only 1 point on the car despite being 2 points on the bed, I do however sometimes run 2 chains in the back with the winch and a safety chain or strap in the front, As for chains vs straps, Chains seem more secure to me and are quicker, A lot quicker to attach to a pocket or axle and run it to the bed then tighten with the winch, I can do that in 30 seconds for both sides, Now I do however use straps on the front as securement, I use straps when pockets are rusted our, really beaten up and worn or If I can't quickly find a pocket, typically ford, chevy, dodge all have their universal spots for having tow points on most of their vehicles, I can quickly find tow points by just knowing where they usually are on these makes, However not all their models have that, and other makes have different pocket spots if any, So if I can't quickly find one on the side of the highway I will just throw a strap on the back or two, One day I had a impound on the interstate, ran one chain to a tow hook bracket on the back, went to put the other on and realized there wasn't one on the other side, it was the exhaust so i just threw a strap on that side, It all just depends on the vehicle, how damaged it is, where you are etc in my opinion, I have loaded cars with 2 chains in the back to the winch with 2 straps in the front and a safety if it's going a long ways I might as well take the time and load it with safeties and extra tie downs just so I don't have to worry about it at all, But I have also towed cars off the interstate still running with 1 chain in the back and the winch in the front just to get out of traffic then I tie it down the rest at a gas station or parking lot.

When I started, "back in the late 80's" . I was trained "by Steve Cardinale / Ralph Sacco" how to use a old sling truck. I wonder if they"the trucks I mean" are still out there???
