  • Mongo's wife was using the microwave and noticed the inside light no longer working. Mongo thought... Is there a light bulb inside? Come on Mongo! of course there light bulb inside microwave.
    NO PROBLEM... MONGO FIX
This Microwave is a Oster - Model: OGB8902
Check all the WARNINGS! make sure you are safe and "qualified" and "certified" and super skilled and safe cause it is a microwave.
Light bulbs and fuses common failure points and need to be easily serviceable by consumers. Microwave manufactures need to step up and fix this. Been making microwaves the same way for a VERY long time. Time to do a better job.
Always unplug the machine before working on it.
To remove the cover usually there some Phillips #2 screws and a few hollow torques bits (safety torques bits) This model uses 2 T20 hollow screws.
Once you remove the cover be sure to discharge the capacitor. Option 1 - DVOM on voltage DC setting measure across the capacitor terminals. when the voltage reaches 0v, it is fully discharged. Option 2 - Use a tool with an insulated handle and touch the metal part of the tool across the 2 terminals on the capacitor to discharge it (may see a spark)
Now it safe to work on and we can remove the light bulb. Might have 1 screw, or 2 screws or no screws. Depend on the microwave. This case the light bulb glass fell out of the socket. Had to bend the sheet metal out of the way to retrieve it. Careful cause the sheet metal is very sharp and can cut you deep. Be sure to go to the store and get the exact same bulb and reinstall. Mongo had one in the microwave parts pile.
Mongo like when he have the parts in the pile, FREE REPAIRS!
Hopefully this video help you if you need to replace the light bulb in your microwave.

Mongo, you absolutely hit the nail on the head. As someone who's been repairing his own stuff for 40+ years, the greenest thing you can do IS to repair your belongings, as opposed to trashing them and buying new ones.

YUP, Mongo estimate there about 1,000 times more pollution to buy new, than to repair. (take in account to mine the dirt, deforest, ship, shelf, sell, use, trash, landfill, back to dirt)
