I just love. These segments. I am moved by the care and tender compassion these Vets and caregivers provide for God's creatures. 🥰
I volunteer at a wildlife rehab shelter and we would not have handled the hawk in that manner. We cover the eyes with a towel or falconers hood to reduce stress, keep the bird indoors (quiet, calm, low light) and low to the ground until healthy, and above all, use imaging to determine the true condition. We have the luxury of taking x-rays on site at the shelter, and a small staff of experienced vets. Rehabilitating wildlife is so much more than guesswork.
Please take your animal to a vet if it had an accident to prevent a similar incident to the hawk it could have been saved if taken sooner or at least prevented suffering
Yes. Should have been taken immediately to vet. Hit at 55 mph+ you should know something internally is wrong.
The redtail hawk should, I think, been taken to a veterinarian immediately. He obviously was in need of a complete assessment by a vet after a 50 mph impact like that. I can't understand why that wasn't done. If they had, that redtail might have received the care he needed and survived.
I'm very sad about the red hawk. Heart breaking as I live raptors. Thank you so much for trying to save him. I'm sure it's hard for you to put all you have into it and then they don't make it. Off to hawk heaven.
Sad about the hawk. I have rehabilitated alot of birds. Can't say for sure cuz I wasn't there but for a mic to even pic up the sound, I wouldnt been able to let it even think about flying. Sounded like another bone off and when it tried to fly and hang on, the bone went thru something important. I love what these ppl do and you could see it in the boys face, he was heart broken, but a hawk, a truck, 55 mph, broken grill needs XRAY! Its too easy for a bone to go thru something. Stress Will also kill a bird fast. It's Sad but it's how a rehabilitator and any of us learn

I think they should have taken the hawk to a Professional Veterinarian for a full check. Sad 😔 😟
why wasn't the red hawk taken for x-rays right away? it doesn't make sense to me...
This is the first time I have seen this show, its pretty cool. I think raccoons are so cute, so sad Lucky did not make it. :(

I'm really surprised the wildlife rehabbers didn't take that hawk to a raptor care centre or a vet immediately for x-rays after being struck by a vehicle going at that speed. Bird bones are notoriously fragile. Just seems like a no-brainer to me, especially if bones were making noises that could be picked up by the microphones...
