    The previous owner of the tortoise is disgusting only gave it up after she saw how bad its condition was. I wonder how such a bad wound like that can happen and also to let so much maggots in. Truly terrible. So nice to see it made a full recovery.

    I wish these owners that breed these bull dog breeds would be a little less uneducated. More times than not they need c-sections and the owners need to bring them into their vets as soon as labor starts. They can be evaluated and if decisions can be made early there is a much better chance of all puppies surviving and mom not getting hurt in the process.

    That poor turtle. When it showed the turtle at the end eating, I had to rewind back to where the turtle was brought into the vet. I seen something I hadnt noticed before (the overall difference was remarkable) but it was its "eyes" you could see the pain😭 at the end of the show the pain was gone😭

    • @Zyxi7
      @Zyxi7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The tortoise looked like it also had a respiratory infection, hence the fluid coming from around the eyes. This infection also causes tortoises to not eat. I didn't notice it in the video, but they certainly gave that tortoise antibiotics in order to fight off the infection in the wound. This also would have eliminated the respiratory infection. I own 3 tortoises of the same kind

      @@Zyxi7 I had a red eared slider for years. My mom has an old pond that has alot of thriving turtles, all different kinds, very happy and no fishing allowed. They come out to lay eggs every year. When I moved, I made the choice to see if mine wanted to go in the pond or go with me. I permanently marked her; she chose the pond. Long story short I cried

      @@Monk-eee I was simply stating a fact. Other than winter if the animal was raised in captivity it won't survive being in the wild. Also, red eared sliders are invasive in basically every state now.

    I wonder what created that tortoises wound

    • @Zyxi7
      @Zyxi7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Most of the time it's another tortoise fighting with it. They purposely ram each other with their gular projections/scutes and commonly cause this problem in other tortoises. It is often fatal even when treated because it's hard to reconnect the skin to the shell. This leaves it open to constant infections and eventually death. So this tortoise was pretty lucky it reattached, this doesn't always happen even with the limited surgery practices we are able to apply to this type of wound. This is why it's dangerous to let tortoises fight with each other, even if they're just flipping each other over- which can also kill the tortoise from twisted intestines and exposure to being stuck in the heat.

    I particularly like Andrea. Given the manner in which she speaks to the patients, she seems like a very nice lady. However I’m confused abt the philosophy re: the pig’s nose ring. The pain caused by attempting to root with the ring in is the deterrent. 🤷🏼‍♀️ The ring is a behaviour modification tool.
