@@AJsVIEW i5 8400 (cheapest 8th gen i5) is better in gaming compared to any ryzen but ryzen5 1600 and up are better than any i5 in content creation and live streaming. I would pick i5 8400 (I mostly just play games on my PC) if it costs the same as r5 1600 but it doesn't so ryzen is the better option of the two at the moment.
@Hv Singh look kid, you're probably not even worth my time but still let me share some knowledge with you. IPC of a cpu and the clock speed that it runs at is what matters the most in gaming and the amount of threads can be limited to 6, heck even 4 would do the job in most games. Intel CPUs provide around 20% more (give or take 5%) IPC than a competing ryzen CPU and on top of that the unlocked intel parts can clock much higher than ryzen as of now. There is a chance that 3rd gen ryzen can get some significant IPC gains and/or can achieve higher clock speeds but until then intel is still the king when it comes to gaming. Now I would personally choose r5 1600 for my build if I were to choose between r5 and i5 solely because of the current surge in pricing of i5. Pair anything above a gtx 1060 with an i5 and an r5 1600 and you will surely notice the difference in FPS. Now before commenting anything senseless here I would suggest you to watch some gaming benchmarks.
