probably in between time SK base was destroyed and when Rey leaves the resistance base with chewie to go find luke.

I have a friend, who edited all the Star Wars movies on his computer and burnt them on DVD... In his versions...
- C-3PO didn't appear in episodes 1 or 2 (that's right, no C3PO in the droid factory)
- Cut out a lot of dialogue from Jar Jar Binks and Anakin Skywalker
- Qui Gon Jin uses the force to help Anakin in the Pod Race (especially when Anakin gets in trouble with Sebulba in lap 3)
- Anakin didn't fight in the final space battle in episode 1. Ric Olie was the hero in that battle, if I remember correctly.
- He cut out a lot of cheesy dialogue in all the movies, especially the prequels, especially between Anakin and Padme.
- R2-D2 wasn't Anakin's droid in episode 3.
- Episode 4 was basically the 1977 version with the enhanced effects. (no cheesy "new" droids, no Jabba, Han Shot first...)
- Luke went to Dagobah before the battle of Hoth in ESB, so he edited Luke out of the Battle of Hoth (it kinda works)
- Luke's training on Dagobah seems like it took a while, instead of just some "you can be a Jedi too" week-end retreat.
- Return of the Jedi, a lot of the cheesy Jabba's palace crap was taken out, like captain caveman and most of his song.
- He used both the old and new sets of Jedi ghosts at the end...
- He used the new ending and left out the ewok song.
Overall, they are actually better movies. He made them more adult oriented. His episodes 1-3 are actually watchable!
I told him to post them on TH-cam... He said he might someday.

What an amazing story. I've been so impressed with the small backstory pieces Marvel has been putting out that add so much depth to an already expansive universe. This was just plain touching.

I honestly love this story. It's nice to see Threepio get some more spotlight time for once, although his comedic scenes are pretty funny.

Time for Creepio to recreate the Singularity Engine and get some human flesh to wear. And get Han's remains before they start to rot and finally create Han Singular, the next evolution of human kind.
This was explained in the level "The Phantom Limb" of 'LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens'.
How can C-3PO remember those things from the Prequels?
His memorys had been deleted by the end of Episode 3.
+Wastydest The comic goes into that. He doesnt' have whole memories, just flashes. Looks like wiping a droid's memory doesn't always get everything, especially very personal and emotional moments. The comic was really interesting looking at the consciousness of a droid.

+Star Wars Minute I wonder if there's backups for old memories stored somewhere for droids and since R2 didn't have one ever done on him I wonder if after all this and his friend finally waking up after years of being asleep 3P0 would actually ask him if he knew anything from before his memory wipe about him.
Even artificial life forms might have a soul, perhaps.....just because he is plastic and metal, and not flesh, blood and bone, does not mean he is not a life form.

I think this is where that LEGO Star Wars Resistance series picks up from on the first episode.

c3p0s arm, certain storm trooper shoulders, one side of the tie fighters, the pocket on PO's jacket, one side of the hallway on starkiller base. there was a whole lot of "one part is red" throughout the movie.
I really hope we get more 3PO and R2 in Episode 8. I miss those two. And maybe BB-8 can join and form a new trio, maybe even a rivalry with R2.

Wow theres an actual lego star wars short called "resistance rises" that followed its own version of this story its actually really cool that they did this
This reminds me of an old comic called Droids that had deep storylines like this. I recall one in particular about nursery droids at a daycare who witnessed a smuggler murdering a middleman during a drug deal in an alley. The smuggler killed one of the droids to blackmail the others to silence. Later artoo finds the dead droid's memory core and brings it to the remaining two droids who mourn him, showing their minds are like children. Artoo gets revenge by putting the memory core into a demolition droid that wrecks the smuggler's base of operations, alerting the authorities and using his memory as evidence to prosecute him.
Aaaaaand then it gets replaced at the end of The Force Awakens. So much for friendship huh.

The funny thing is, before Threepio got his gold plating, his arm was originally a rusty red "primer" color. You can see it in Episode II.

Ah, so in "Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens," the bonus mission "Trouble Over Taul" is the prologue to the story (which I had already suspected), while the mission "Poe to the Rescue" serves as the epilogue. If only the Wii U version of the game had been provided with the DLC missions, I could've bought and also played the mission described here as well.

Real reason: JJ Abrams was paying tribute to Metal Gear Solid. Abrams even got his copy of MGS5 signed by Kojima.

Though this comic would be satisfying reason, I'd like to think they took the arm from a red protocol droid they didn't like as much. The droid I speak of is in the shot where the rebel base is saying goodbye to Rey. To C3PO's left (our right) you can see a red protocol droid standing in the crowd.

They needed to make the "codpiece" bigger so Anthony Daniels would fit inside. The new arm color was chosen to distract movie-goer's attention away from C-3PO's larger new waistline. And, voila... the need for a comic book to explain the new arm.
