Anthony Daniels seems like he would be the best person to spend a day with. He’s so descriptive and I love the way that he describes 3PO as a separate entity, instead of himself
Thanks, Anthony for sharing your incredible behind the scenes of C-3PO. The difficulty and support you needed for you to bring CPO alive are extraordinary. Just wonderful.🥰
It’s interesting that Daniels’ gesticulating emotion through the articulation limitations of the costume became a central part of the character’s seeming reticent attitude towards taking any rash actions. Some may have rejected such a stage limitation outright and given up. Yet this all contrasts with the character’s dialog of constant verbal siege on everyone else’s actions. This lent a complex and relatable wholeness to C3PO few robotic characters have achieved. The magic of theater, story telling, dreams and the human condition were wrapped up magnificently by Daniels.
Fascinating that Anthony can recall all this information. You can tell he truly had passion for the character. Absolutely beautiful..... And it's weird that he looks like an exact human version of C-3PO.

Absolutely. Actors are regularly nominated for the transformations that the makeup department create, but people who risk their safety to make our jaws drop don't get anything. Then again, the academy is a joke... so there's that.
@@DamienDrake There is merit to the whole "we don't want to incentivise danger" thing... I'll bet you that you wasn't allowed to put a red ball in that movie so he went for the next best thing.
why does Anthony sound like he would be a great story telller
He'd be the ideal story teller of the Star Wars saga as he's the only actor to appear in all 9 of the main saga. Man's a legend.
Because he sounds like he would be a great story teller.
The Ewok Tribe Agrees As well
@@zevenup "That guy's wise!" 🤣
@@AndrewChapman there are only 6 star wars movies
26:51 Kinda of amazing that George (and his amazing concept artists) had the look of Coruscant all figured out in the late 80s.
that fact about tracy the stunt woman who was both falling c3-po and swinging leia in one day is absolutely legendary
I could listen to Mr. Daniels talk forever...awesome interview! Thank you Wired. Thank you Anthony.
Yeah this went far beyond interview standards and more of a documentary and a very good one at that.
Why can’t all my professors sound like him
Because your professors have a job to do rather than being charming.
This guy is so lovely.
So calm and speaking with so much hapiness.
An example to follow
Listening to Anthony Daniels talk about the costume is so fascinating to hear. Anthony is the only 3PO we ever need
I can’t even imagine the feeling he had when the animatronic looked at him in the eyes, the character he had played for years
His reaction to the red arm makes me happy
It _was_ clunky and overt 😂. I think a rose-gold arm would’ve struck the perfect balance.
I had the pleasure of meeting him last November. Hes a wonderful and polite man.
@ButterdCrump3ts heh heh, his fate is inevitable
@ButterdCrump3ts I would rather hope that with C-3PO, he will live with us forever.
ButterdCrump3ts
Why even bring that up?! Fucktard
When I met him 20 years ago I noticed that he was very thin & small, I guess to make the suit that encased him seem more normal sized. Dare I say, human sized?
Without a doubt, one of the nicest celebrities I've ever met.
A few years back When the symphony did the entire Star Wars score, Anthony was the narrator/emcee and it was amazing to see him live. Its just fun to watch him enjoy things.
I envy you so much! That must have been amazing!
Oh my gosh! I remember going to see that when I was a kid! It was awesome.
I was there at 4 years old! 18 now and still a fan
Just finished his book "I am C3PO - The inside story" very interesting read, I highly recommend it.
@Lucas George I Am Big Bird but Star Wars
That book is what brought me to this video.
"you're built by anakin. he's a kid." i love his george lucas impression
I wasn't planning on watching the whole thing, but this dude is great to listen to.
Mr. Daniels might very well be the most wholesome person ever. What a joy to listen to him describe his beloved character.
The magic of theater, story telling, dreams and the human condition were wrapped up magnificently by Daniels.
and it makes sense, too. Would you bother giving a protocol droid amazing physical abilities? He just needs to show up and translate and be polite.
Fascinating that Anthony can recall all this information. You can tell he truly had passion for the character. Absolutely beautiful..... And it's weird that he looks like an exact human version of C-3PO.
He’s technically the star of the franchise
His character has been in every episode (minus Solo)
It’s basically the life story of C-3PO
And rouge one!! I think?
Daniels was in Solo also. During the slave revolt on Kessel he voices one of the droids that says, "Freedom"
Pre Disney 3PO was canonically telling the story to someone (I don’t remember who). Hence the “A long time ago in a galaxy far far away”
@@carlossap George Lucas said he thought R2D2 was narrating star wars not C-3P0 and that would make more sense because R2 never had his memory wiped C-3P0 did so he wouldn't remember
@@kennethkennethson4289 either way, Disney messed that up, too, by regulating them to background at best
This was a great watch, hosted wonderfully. Also, I genuinely felt that C3PO was one of the best parts of Rise Of Skywalker, he really stood out in it.
I love it when he says, "when he put my head on backwards" referring to the Chewbacca scene in empire strikes back, and that's how much he put in to c3po, he actually sees himself as the droid lol amazing.
I love his passion for his character and Star Wars. This video really made me appreciate C3PO even more than before.
The claustrophobia I would experience in that outfit would drive me crazy!!! He could not even break his fall if he tipped forward... that would make me very nervous to be inside of it let alone try to remember lines and act. Thanks for your sacrifice, it really made my childhood!
50 minutes? I could spend 500 minutes listening to Anthony Daniels talking, let alone about Star Wars!
Aymen NM i want him to do audio books.. scifi only.. like Dune... and MYST
This is actually wholesome, I freaking love this, can we have the background artist come next?
Anthony Daniels, what a sweet and grateful person he is.
Speak like master yoda, you do.
it's so good the hear that he is very grateful to all the people who helped him in his role as C-3PO
How extraordinary for someone to embody a character so much throughout so many years, and still have respect and love for that character.....It's simply beautiful...
I've heard it said that C-3P0 is basically the only character that has been in every "canon" film & almost every side project of Star Wars (except the Ewok spin-offs).
Ofcourse. C-3P0 IS the Chronicler of the whole adventure.
The suit was not in SOLO unfortunately
Minus the Solo movie.
@asaeampan R2D2 catalogs the story, but he needs C3PO to tell it.
3PO’s memory was wiped at the end of ROTS so he doesn’t have the entire saga memorized although R2 does... so yeah R2 is the chronicler
@@Blokewood3 that’s wholesome
he seems like THE most charming and kind man.
we must protect him.
20:20 George Lucas punching the air right now
wishing he could re-edit his re-edit of the re-edited film.
Or even the part somehow where he has 2 right arms on Chewies back
Ezra Bridger good one
I'm not even super into star wars but this is fascinating and listening to Anthony talk is so enjoyable
The genuine affection & love this man has for the character of C-3PO even dwarfs my love of the character. And that's saying a lot. C-3PO & R2D2 is pure movie magic.
Daniels has such a compelling voice, your just hanging on every word. He could talk about folding laundry and make it interesting.
he is a bit too pretentious though
Half_Finis Not even close. You can hear Threepio, but... his voice is gentler. It’s like something you’d hear in a sleep helper podcast, or in a BBC nature documentary.
Being British is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be charming.
😤
😂
This is what you call a legend.
He was my favourite part of IX
And I totally agree with the fact that stunt doubles are undervalued, they definitely need an academy award.
Absolutely. Actors are regularly nominated for the transformations that the makeup department create, but people who risk their safety to make our jaws drop don't get anything.
Then again, the academy is a joke... so there's that.
@@DamienDrake There is merit to the whole "we don't want to incentivise danger" thing... That said, there's an entire supporting industry built on danger that seems to be rather shoved under the rug, which also isn't fair. It's safer for the Academy not to reward it, I suppose, but I wish they had rather more exposure.
Such a soothing voice.I feel so relaxed and calm.
He has a very captivating way of talking. Met him at Star Wars Celebration Europe back in 2016. Lovely guy.
I come back to this video often. I love his voice, it's amazing.
This was so chill and fun
I've never noticed how beautifully intricate C3PO's hands are
They are beautifully intricate, aren't they?
Anthony Daniels is single handedly the most dedicated actor in all of Star Wars
Imagine the joy he felt picking up the dagger on "The Rise of Skywalker", after 42 years of clumsy plastic C3P0 hands, he finally picked something up the proper way!
i loved watching this video. he really loves this character. like really he sounds so happy just talking about his role in star wars. i usually don't watch videos this long, but it's so pleasing to hear someone who is so happy to have played this role. i've always loved c3po, but this just makes me appreciate everything that went into creating this classic character. i've never thought about how it would be to film like that. sorry for the long comment i just appreciate the joy in his voice as he describes his filming experience with 3po.
Mr Daniels is a humble, genuine, and talented actor. This video came up on autoplay after I watched another Star Wars video and I enjoyed watching every single minute. This man is an absolute treasure.
