I liked how much bigger Goonies 2 was, but .... its graphics sucked in comparison to Goonies 1, and I don't understand why. Goonies 1 was just better polished and played better. Mikey looked like Mikey, didn't have a weird red tank top.
Bro I swear on everything I love.. I stay home from school sick and my mom and I did the same thing.. when I read your comment I thought wait I don't remember writing that.. woe that's crazy.. me and my mom still talk about it 35 YEARS LATER
Nice! This game brings me nostagia. So glad this game is in this channel now but disappointed that you didn't find all the hidden gadgets that protects you from traps and some enemies. and easter eggs throughout the whole stages..
@@MFields2178 Going to list them all: Steven Spielberg's portrait (level 2), Konami Man (passage to level 3), TwinBee (level 3), Vic Viper (level 4), Tanuki the Raccoon (passage to level 5), UFO (level 5) and Mr. Fukutaro (final level). I found a comprehensive guide that even shows the exact location of each and how to make them appear.
My very first video game ive ever played, on an arcade machine back in 1986 at a bus station when i was 4 years old. I was so blown away by the idea of controling a hero and the graphics and opening doors and the music, it got me HOOKED on video games ever since. Was at a babysitter's house and she had the NES version of the game, i made it halfway thru. Fast forward to 2018 and i decided to play all the games ive always wanted to play from start to finish. I just played this game and was SHOCKED how fucking easy it was, only 4 levels, and how short it is. Finished it in 40 mins. What did i wait 30 years for?...lmao
She didn't have this game on NES as it remained a Japan only exclusive for the console, the only way this came outside of Japan was via Playchoice 10 arcade machines. Might be Goonies II you are thinking of.
Konami, what the fuck happened? I find it hard to believe that they were doing abysmally business-wise two years ago, and then when they hired Hayakawa, they've been doing better than ever. There's just NO WAY this could be true.

I remember seeing the arcade version at our local Pizza Hut as a little kid. I had never heard of the movie and when I finally found out the game was based on a movie saw a bit of it a few months later I was surprised not to see a kid kicking mice.
Arcade version was a Versus title in arcades, was pretty much the Famicom version. Wasn't really any different from it's home counterpart, unlike Vs Super Mario Bros.
I remember this game on some pirate multicart (could be 52 in 1 but that was years ago). Never made it past stage 4. These ghosts used to scare me back when I was a kid - appearing out of nowhere and looking freaky. The funny thing is that you can take them down with a sling, but they're invunerable to kicking.
TAS videos are a pretty good spectacle to behold but nothing beats a nice chill longplay while eating breakfast. Edit: Also, did you guys know that the Fratelli's weapon is not a real gun? its actually an NES Zapper.
I only ever saw it once on a PlayChoice-10 in Circus Playhouse’s arcade. You had to pay for time playing on it in addition to credits. Don’t think it ever made it to NES, though I played the crap out of the sequel.
I played goonies 2 when i was a child but this is the first time seeing the 1st one. Probably going to get a few arguments from this but the 2nd was by far a better game
By no means would I ever argue against that. Sure, blowing up doors to rescue goonies in this game is much less of a chore than going through maze rooms and making sure you have a key, but Goonies 2 still reigns supreme as one of the best games all-time.
Japan-only FAMICOM game (also MSX game) which is licensed-property by Warner Bros. on it's movie from 1985/86, 'The Goonies' and published by Konami (because Konami had deal with Warner Bros. to make licensed game for that time). Also completely different from Datasoft-published (only for non-Japan home computers)
You know what back then in the 80’s they should made a sequel out of this film call'ed The Goonies (1985) so that way they will call'ed it The Goonies 2 In Search Of Monster Island (1987) so they can bring back the same actors like Sean Astin as Mikey Josh Brolin as Brand Corey Feldman as Mouth Jonathan Ke Quan as Data Jeff Cohen as Chunk Kerri green as Andy Martha Plimpton as Stef and two new Goonie kid’s name Molly Ringwald as Malinda (Mikey’s Girlfriend that she moved to the goon docks where Mikey’s house is) and Leo O'Brien as Joey (Mouth’s Buddy from next door) but they will bring back John matuszak as Sloth (that he always said Hey You Guys!) even they will add New Bad Guys like Christopher Walken as Gary (the leader of the Modern day Pirates that he’s obsessed of looking for Golden treasures on Monster island) even Nicholas worth Brion James Randy Savage Louis Gossett Jr Reb Brown Robert wall as Gary’s henchmen and Sean Young as Lisa (the hench lady that she always wanted diamonds) & even they will add Stop motion Dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus Rex Triceratops Brontosaurus Stegosaurus Pterodactyl Dimetrodon Ceratosaurus Plesiosaurus Pachyrinosaurus Woolly Mammoth Woolly Rhinoceros Giant Ground Sloth and even the White Pongo The Giant Gorilla Ape but The Dinosaurs and The Giant Gorilla Ape are going to be stop motion animation by David Allen & Ray Harryhausen even Creature Animatronic by Randall William Cook and The Chiodo Brothers Film editor by Todd C Samsay Visual effects by Peter Kuran Sloth Make up artist by Rob Bottin Music by Dave Grusin Writer by Philip Kaufman Screenplay by Chris Columbus Executive producer by Dino De Laurentiis Producer by Ivan Reitman Directed by Don Coscarelli so The Goonies 2 film will be filmed in introvision and it will be from Warner Bros & De Laurentiis Entrainment Group and it will came out in March 1987 it will released in theaters it will open against Richard Donner’s movie Lethal Weapon (1987) but if Film Critics Siskel and Ebert might think the Movie Called The Goonies 2 In Search Of Monster Island (1987) is going to be like a knock off of King Kong and The Blue Lagoon!
im guessing they did after this. Thats why we got the 2nd one. Which I though growing up that, that was the only game. Just calling it Goonies II because it was like a sequel to the movie
The sequence of levels is surely based on the film. The kid starts from the house which is level 1 and finds keys to enter the secret basement which is full of traps. This is level 2. Then the basement leads to the underground caves which are level 3,4,5. They represent the Goonies' underground journey. Finally you arrive at the ship within the caves which is level 6. Just like the movie. Also the gangster that chases you represents the Fratelli bros. The irrelevant thing is these vast spaced areas (the actual cave in the movie is REALLY claustrophobic) with secret doors, keys, other items as well as fighting mice and other monsters such as skeletons and pirate ghosts. They are not in the movie but you know, it's a game...
thanks to this channel i discovered a lot of great games
keep the good work world of long play team
i've always preferred this over goonies II. classic side scrolling at its finest throughout, perfect sprites, excellent sound effects and superb music

I remember playing this when I was 6 on a bootleg nes in Honduras, visiting family.
is that "the goonies are good enough" by cindy lauper?
Yes, well it's based off the movie so why not.
From what I can remember, there was also an arcade game. Not sure if this is a home console version of it.

I remember playing this back in 2006 on a GBA multicart. I didn't know what to do so I only walked around and kick some rats

was this on the NES?
A game of my childhood thanks to ROM emulations. :)

What is Kionomi
Is this a legit NES port of the game or the Famicom version?
If I had to blow up stone doors to get keys...... how did I figure that out 20 years ago?
