I made something very similar. I used beeswax, BTMS-50, hemp seed oil, cocoa butter, castor jelly and bentonite clay. The clay helps keep it matte. Just melt all ingredients and in the end add the clay and keep stirring. Stir until thicken and scoop into your container. Do not use a aluminum or metal container because it will deactivate the clay. Also it's best to use a thermometer and never let it go above 180 degrees. At around 90 degrees add the essential oils or fragrance oils.
Keep up the quality videos man, I've been really enjoying your videos these last few months. I really do believe that you will reach your goal this year. Good luck!
Hey Mike, I am tuning in from Atlanta, GA and I am a huge pomade enthusiast and have always thought about making my own. Thanks for the video and keep 'em coming.
Awesome man!!!I tried making a small amount of pomade today thanks to this.prolly like 1 oz just to try it out.scented it with lavender essential oil which I added too much and now the whole place smells like lavender unless the jar is shut tightly
Awesome vid Mike, I'm from Canada and I've been really getting in to the pomade world lately. Coming from the salon type hair products and getting this would really help me expand my experience with the pomade world.
Found out about your videos on EP and I enjoy your modern take on videos and also enjoy that you're not just set on pomade reviews only. It's always a pleasure watching your videos because you can genuinely see how excited you are and they fun you're having making these videos. Ps I'd love that prelude, I don't own a colab pomade yet.
that's the point, you're not supposed to wash out a wax based pomade, quite the opposite - you're supposed to build it up in you hair, and after you build it up, merely replace the bit that got washed off whenever you style your hair in the morning. Classic pomade is a requires you to commit to a certain style for a while. Stick to water soluble stuff if that bothers you.
Thanks! I just wanted to make something easy and functional. It really doesn't compare to the real homebrewers but it does make you appreciate their craft.
@@disc_golfing_with_d It does hold pretty decent, it's a natural alternative to petroleum jelly. I sometimes use only lanolin and clay, and it rocks (my hair is thin and greasy).
Love your vids so much man looking forward to you next vids 😊, I'm watching this from New Zealand and in nz there is no good hair products for my hair or hair in general so I really need something decent to hold up my hair, thanks keep up the great work ☺️
Hey brother! I watch a bunch of different pomade reviewers, and I happened to find your channel today. I LOVE that you released this video because all the other DIY pomade videos aren't good in my opinion. I was extremely surprised that you are barely at 2k subs because I can tell from the 5 videos I've watched that you have high-quality content. The production and editing of your videos reminds me of Gary G from WesternGent because the two of you mix in awesome music with an engaging personality. I wish you the best, and I can safely say that you're already ahead of the many other reviewers I watch in terms of quality. Lastly, that would be AWESOME if you could do a tutorial on how to do unorthodox pomades because I can't find anything on how to make them online.
Hi modern man TV, i just can't figure it out how to make heavy hold, medium hold or light hold pomade. i would very thankful if you making video with these tutorial
Thanks for video, been wonting to make my own , For a while. Now I know how. Could how do a class on how to brand my very on wave grase, becase thats wht I wann do.
hello.. your video is great and helpful!! i want to ask somethings..if i want those pomade become strong hold pomade, want ingredients should i put more ?????
COOLMUSIC you need to experiment with levels to get what you want. Some brewers have done countless test batches until they have found the formula they like.
Benson Dulos Some people have said that coconut oil and argan oil work really well too. Argan oil would be the healthiest option, but also the most expensive.
Hey man! Great video! I live in Coventry, Rhode Island and have been using pomades for a little over a year. That being said, I've never tried a clay pomade. I've heard awesome things about Prelude, and I'd like to really try this stuff out! Thanks man! Keep making videos dude
Such a quality video man, the quality just keeps getting better! Im from Australia, where not too many American pomades are available to purchase. I was always interested to try a hair product that has received good reviews and as to why I don't just order the products online, I'm not too sure about which product to purchase and the shipping cost+ product cost is too much for me at the moment(Uni) and I would love to get a hair product to try out. Keep up your videos man, looking forward to more awesome videos!
Hi. Is it ok to use this product everyday, or should i use it every other day? Also, is this pomade oil-based? Is it hard to wash out? Are there any sideeffects to using this pomade? How often should i wash my hair when using this product? Also i will use coconut oil instead of vaseline, is this ok? Please reply.
Out of all of the DYI pomade videos, yours is definitely the best.
Why thank you :)
Great Tutorial. Would've liked to see how it looked on your hair

What if the lid is metal?
Is this for a high hold? Does the clay help to make it a higher hold?
Thank really helpful.. I was lost about adding the essential oil

I need this because I missed out on the first release LOL. watching from St. Louis!
Hey Mike, I am tuning in from Atlanta, GA and I am a huge pomade enthusiast and have always thought about making my own. Thanks for the video and keep 'em coming.
woow i made my own pomade by mixing hair wax, vaseline and saltspray and it ended up insane. omg try this one
You should use natural ingredients
I am from egypt I liked your product very much
Awesome man!!!I tried making a small amount of pomade today thanks to this.prolly like 1 oz just to try it out.scented it with lavender essential oil which I added too much and now the whole place smells like lavender unless the jar is shut tightly

Hey! Great video.. Does your pomade feels greasy/oily or does it feels more like water-based?
I'm gonna start cooking pomade this summer. I'm making a lavender one!

Very well done
Ok, I'll try at home
It's really interesting. But how easy to take it off?
thank you so much for your grease
What does this do does it give a shine, does it give it a natural look, or for like curls.
Can u give something about what must suit u hair type
I changed a few ingredients and it turned out well
Which did you change btw?
I did this, and it took me 100's and 100's of years to wash it out of my hair

I used an orange fragrance oil it's listed in the description

Actually use Lanolin instead of the jelly. Helps alot with moisturizing everything and has a good styling property as well
Will it give it the same hold?
@@disc_golfing_with_d It does hold pretty decent, it's a natural alternative to petroleum jelly. I sometimes use only lanolin and clay, and it rocks (my hair is thin and greasy).
