Here’s a thought for Negative Nancys…I know firsthand not every community is fortunate to have organizations that help women & children. My daughter lives in a rural community an hour drive away from the next small town. She has one small thrift store and when she tried to take donations recently they told her they were full and couldn’t accept anything right now. So, she saves her stuff for me to take back to my community in the next state over from her. So what I am trying to point out is that not everyone lives in an area where there are places equipped to accept donations. Thanks to Shannon for being the go between for those who want to help and feel the calling to send her their heartfelt donations to distribute in her community.
In my area 1 DG now locks their dumpster and 2 of the others also have security guards at night. It's a shame because DG never has enough staff inside of the stores. Guarding the trash seems just plain stupid!
When you’re doing good for people around you; sometimes it’s just best to ignore the negativity hurled at you especially via TH-cam, Twitter etc. Appreciate what you ladies do! 💜

Actually I’ve been visited by some of the cutest and nicest police officers in Flint and what they’ve always said is if there is a sign you must not ignore it, if there is a lock, do not bust open the lid for them you are breaking and entering and stealing. Do not ignore an employee when they tell you do not dive here. But, it’s not against the law to go back when the store is closed….they were always nice and just said we wanted you to know we’re looking out for you, but be careful…oh and the reason stores can’t donate it once it’s been zeroed out-The store has already claimed it as a loss and cannot donate because of that stores policy on receipts (which is their proof of value of donations. Does it make any sense that it can only be claimed once…..
If you don’t have anything nice to say, then keep your trap shut! Shannon you do an amazing thing and no matter where it’s donated it’s shared care and love to those who need it more.
It is sickening to see how much perfectly good stuff the stores throw out. If they dont want people diving then just set it aside the dumpster and let people in need get it. There are too many homeless people that could get some good use out of it. Its just a major tax write off for them so they dont care. God forbid that they should help their communities. We have s few stores in my town that donate to local shelters and food kitchens here in VT. They also donate food to pig farmers for the pigs. I think it's wonderful.
Ulta has came in clutch for skin care for me and makeup for my teenage daughter ❤ So many things I would never pay for! Awesome Scores for the women and children 🌞

I am donating over 1000 Easter eggs I found in dollar tree dumpster and decor along with the Easter eggs .I called and ask and I am taking them tomorrow to the lady that helps put on the Easter egg hunts for the kids each year .I love helping the kids and they will have a great Easter next year .
Shannon, you are just pulling a miniscule amount of pop. Can you imagine the amount of soda across the nation that is getting sent to the landfill on a weekly basis!?! These companies are not only wasteful they are killing us all with the high volumes of trash. It's mind-boggling. Keep doin what you do Shannon. You save lives and give hope. ❤

What you do for your community is a wonderful thing..when I started diving I found so much stuff I would give some to family and friends , and sell some..then I saw that there were some homeless people in the woods right down from home, so I now make up boxes of food and stuff they can use and leave for them.. it feels good to know that I can help others in need..
Ya know with all the good product the big corporation stores throw away to go to a land fill and HIRE as you said security to make sure no on takes their garbage before it gets tossed?? This could be one of the reasons so many of these stores have gone bankrupt and ceased to exist at all! - my Mama used to call that penny wise and dollar foolish! You just keep doing what you do best girl💕💕💕♥️

My dad was a garbage truck driver when I was little. You should of seen all the stuff places threw out then. So yes,my dad dumpster dived😂 I won't complain,I loved all he waved from the landfill. My siblings and I all got new bikes.

Shannon, you remind me of myself when I was your age raising our two children struggling with buying myself nice things. I never had a hard time spending on our children and others but when it came to myself I really struggled. I learned it came from poor self esteem. Now that I can buy anything I want and no longer struggle with self esteem issues, I don’t want for anything as I’m having more fun becoming a minimalist.

But say you went later when dark they wouldn't be there as way less people or even closed so security probably wouldn't hang around as much? 🤔

In my country we even pay deposit when we buy cans of soda, let alone the bottles. All as an incentive to recycle. And in your country it goes to the landfill while there’s nothing wrong with it. It makes me very sad but also happy for people like you that find it and give it away.

I am soooo ticked the DGs around me lock their dumpsters now. I used to get so much good stuff to help people, but not any more since it all goes to the landfill.
You should keep some of the Clorox wipes for your car when you’re diving. I use them all the time so I don’t get anything nasty in my car while diving.

Just wanted to share with you from another dumpster diver I watch from Missouri. He says that big lots employees leave stuff in the shopping carts by the trash cans so the dumpster divers don't have to jump in the trash cans, so Maybe you can try going to big lots in your area and check if they do the same. keep up the great work! I am soooo ticked the DGs around me lock their dumpsters now. I used to get so much good stuff to help people, but not any more since it all goes to the landfill.

You should keep some of the Clorox wipes for your car when you’re diving. I use them all the time so I don’t get anything nasty in my car while diving.
You are so right here in Houston they guard their trash. What's the big deal people really get upset when you dumpster dive. I don't understand why. 😊 Keep positive beth

Those negative Nancy's Are just jealous because they cannot be a positive influence like you are.
Just wanted to share with you from another dumpster diver I watch from Missouri. He says that big lots employees leave stuff in the shopping carts by the trash cans so the dumpster divers don't have to jump in the trash cans, so Maybe you can try going to big lots in your area and check if they do the same. keep up the great work!
