    I'm a clinical research project manager as well and I appreciate your comments. I agree with EVERYTHING you said. I like to see if other PMs have nuggets to share. I'm going to check into doing some shadowing for tasks i haven't done that for a while. Great video!

    Woah didn't expect this to be an inspirational video! I'm a CRA that recently moved country (transferred internally) so I'm kind of having to take a career growth pause because I am in a new territory. I am a bit bitter about having to take a career growth pause, but I am grateful to be able to move to the country that I am currently working in. PM (or similar role with different title) is what I envision myself to be in maybe 2-3 years time. Thanks for your sharing, this is really insightful.

    Insightful! What is your work life balance like? It sounds like you work hard and have many things to do on the clock….but when you go home or on weekends do you still get calls? Does your vacation tend to get approved or pushed off? Do you feel like you are still able to live your life outside of work?

    • @eboniesimone
      @eboniesimone  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think I have a great work life balance. I set boundaries with my team regarding my availability. I don’t work outside of normal business hours, there are times when working with different time zones where I start a bit early or stay a bit late, but I always take a longer break or end early to make up for it. So far in this industry I’ve never been asked to work nights or weekends. When I was more participant facing and working directly with the volunteers for our studies I did work the weekends for overtime. I’ve never had any issues with my vacations not being approved or having to delay one for work. I think it’s important during the interview process to get a feel for a company’s view on work life balance, especially the team you’ll be working with directly! That way you have an idea what to expect. I hope this helps!

    Hello! There is a program at ucsd “Clinical Trials Design and Management”. What would be the abbreviation for this? I want to do research on pay rate and job descriptions but am not finding this specific title. It’s all new and so confusing. Thanks!

    • @eboniesimone
      @eboniesimone  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi! I looked at the program and the “who will benefit” section, this looks like an amazing opportunity! I’m not sure if you’ll find a job title that aligns exactly with that title, so I would recommend looking into the various roles in research. From the description it looks like the following roles would benefit: study start up associate, project manager, clinical trial specialist, regulatory associates, clinical trial coordinator or supervisor, clinical research associate, clinical operations manager or associate. This is an all inclusive list and the pay rate and job descriptions will vary for each company, but it should be a good start for what you’re looking for. I hope this helps!

    Thank you for this video. I am working towards a career change to clinical Research. No experience yet but hoping to get an opportunity as a CRA. I am a certified project manager and have worked as a PM for over 10years. Would be glad if you have an job leads

    • @eboniesimone
      @eboniesimone  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m not sure if you’re interested in working with pharmaceutical or biotech companies but many of them are looking for their own CRAs. Also a lot of CROs have programs for those new to CRA work where they do a training academy where you’re an employee and paid a salary. For example Medpace! I also think if you’re interested and with your experience as a PM you’d do great with roles as a Clinical Trial Lead/ Clinical Trial Manger those who lead the Clinical Monitoring teams and with the CRAs. I hope this helps! Good luck on your journey!

    Don’t take this as me hating, but why do you feel the need to discount your education? It seems like you don’t understand the depth of skills and ability you learned during your education. It was literally the key differentiator that enabled you to get to where you are today. Each position from the first fell in to place but you absolutely have to have that foundational knowledge and ability to even get a job at all in the field of clinical research. I would stop talking about certification online courses, nobody is getting anywhere with one of those might help you at a higher level but it’s absolutely not the place to start, if you want a job like this you must go to college

    • @eboniesimone
      @eboniesimone  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Everyone’s experience is different. I didn’t pick my degree programs based on getting a job in clinical research. I landed in clinical research because I used to work in administrative role at a day spa. The company I started at didn’t care about my degree as it had nothing to do with research. As I’ve met different people, I’ve asked about their career experience and education to gauge what was needed for me to grow into clinical research. Some shared they were high school drops out and there were some with 2 PHDs. And yes some without a degree and less work experience made more than those with both. Some roles/companies absolutely require a degree of any background, however I don’t think people should be discouraged by their educational level, and I don’t think it should be an indicator of your value and what you can bring to a company. Many companies like seeing people with certifications, such as PMP, ACRP, CCRP, but that also doesn’t prove someone knows the work more than someone who doesn’t. I have none of them. Some people aren’t able to afford a college degree whether it be due to the time or financial commitment and a certification is all they can commit to and that’s absolutely okay! I strongly believe this field of work is inclusive of people of all levels and I personally encourage everyone to apply and get their foot in the door if it’s a field of interest. And I’m happy to share any tips and resources I have to help someone else get there.
