Can't wait to get mine. Sweetwater says it'll be available this month, but we'll see. Paul, of all of the guitar players out there, you're definitely one of them🤘🏻
that's very cool, and the price is great. I can definitely see using it as the extra pedal on my board to fill in for effects I only use once in a while, or as a second reverb/delay
I love TC Electronic gear! Great sounds, great functionality and properly robust. Rebuilt my pedal board around a 2nd hand Plethora X5 (funded by selling a couple of single TC pedals), a programmable Boss EQ pedal, with an overdrive and fuzz to complement the amp’s drive channel. For what and where I play, and the variety of instruments I play (6+12 acoustic, electric, Weissenborn) this pretty much covers my every need.
I did similar about 2 years ago with a plethora x5 and an IR-200 recently broke the left knob off the x5 and moved over to an HX Stomp. Considering one of these to save some DSP on the space echo. Right now I have a corona chorus in the loop that this would slot in for perfectly
I have the X5 - it's probably the most valuable pedal on my board next to my two different Sansamps. The X5 features a built in FX loop which really makes a great product into an incredible one by allowing the user to place things like analog preamps and overdrives into your chain. All the digital effects are top notch and the editor app allows you to twerk literally every aspect of the individual effects to your liking. Highly recommend the plethora products especially the X5.
@@MarcoCiafroneI don't think the intention of the product is to replace the pedalboard but to augment an existing one. That said I am curious as to why you would want this unit to control something else? It can indeed accept MIDI input for things like program change and expression input. I look at this unit as simply a bank of 5 pedals in one unit with an effects loop which allows you to add other fx into its own chain (such as gain and preamps). In that application it's absolutely superb and has excellent internal buffers too boot to make work well when used in such a manner.
Very nice demo. I have been a big fan of the Toneprint approach (Have Alter Ego x 4, and used to have a HOF). I might have to check this out to augment my little fly-rig (even adding to HX Stomp, Tonex One).
Now that guitar really Speaks to me…and it’s seen some road action….! Love the guitar…! I had an Ibanez back in the 70’s I used and played it till I dropped..It looked a bit like that Fender especially the fretboard from all the sweat and finger oils. To this day, I can not remember what happened to it! I’d give anything to have it back….! It was a fantastic playing and sounding guitar…! Great demo my friend…This old guy may just have to get one of those and see if the old brain can kick it….! Thanks, great playing and beautiful sounds….!✌️
Yeah, I don't understand the appeal of this pedal because you can't stack stuff. It's pretty much another HX one type. Whats the purpose? Just saving room on a board in the hopes that you'll only use one effect at a time?
@@recyclebinladen5903The appeal is for people like myself. For example, I rarely but SOMETIMES need a flanger, or tremolo, or chorus in a song. Instead of having three different pedals for when that moment calls, I just have this one as a Swiss army knife type pedal, that will fill in that void when needed in a pedalboard. Its pretty simple to see the appeal actually.
Thanks for the vid! I’m looking at getting one of these 👍 I’ve got a Hall of Fame Reverb and it’s great. Having all the other FX in one seems like a no brainer for me.
I may buy 2. One for FX Loop and one for the front of amp, because of the variety of effects it has. Ironically I already have 3 TC pedals, 2 in FX Loop (FB2 + Dreamscape) and Hypergravity in front. I just read Plethora X5 can have FX sent to FX Loop and In Front of amp ... but way out of my budget, since I already have half of these pedals, TC + others Effects include: Hall of Fame 2 Reverb, Flashback 2 Delay, Helix Phaser, Viscous Vibe, Sub n Up Octaver, Brainwaves Pitch Shifter, Corona Chorus, Hypergravity Compressor, Mimiq Doubler, Vortex Flanger, Pipeline Tap Tremolo, Quintessence Harmony, Sentry Noise Gate and Shaker Vibrato.
I know new X5 and X3 prices are going up, but used units in excellent- very good condition are about the price of 3 standalone TC pedals. Bought my X5 for c£300 c8 mths ago, funded by selling a Hypergravity, Corona chorus and an Alter Ego … worth thinking about …
How do you switch from one effect preset to another? Do you need to use a secondary switch? Would be a drag to have to lean down and manually switch on the selector knob.
Hi, great Video. You showed, that you can scroll through the different Verb types with the toggle switch. But: the biggest problem that i have with my mini version of their Reverb pedals is that there is no adjustable pre-delay. On the big one it is that switch with which you can choose between short and long pre-delay (not the greatest selection but better than nothing). So: ist this also possible like on the Hall of Fame 2 Pedal or better? Or not like the Mini. Thanks
@TheStudioRats watched thr tc demo. You can set the switch to flip between a/b giving toy twice as many effects. Very cool and something that's a pretty fair price tbh. Another great demo 👌
Yes the A B mode Basically you can be on A effect then press to turn on or off, then hold it switches to B then press turns B on or off Essentially for someone who has to perform live this thing could easily be two different effects without ever having to touch the knobs. Maybe you have it set to a quirky delay you only use once in the set, and then a chorus maybe you use on a few songs. Lots of possibilities
Hey Paul - Thanks for the review/demo of this pedal! It's nice to have so many effects packed into a small pedal. Q: Can you set the foot switch to be latched for some presets, and momentary with "MASH" and tap tempo for others? I want to have one preset with a latched, continuous "hold" function, but I want the other presets to use momentary with MASH and tap tempo control. Do you know if I can do this, or is the switch option a global setting for all presets?
The frets on that Strat look MASSIVE. Way bigger looking than my jumbo SS on my ESP lol. I think it's all the black mucky lines along them on the sides. Sure a fantastic sounding guitar though!
it's the Hall Of Fame 2 Reverb, and Plethora X1 is only $20 more giving you "more" effects Effects include: Hall of Fame 2 Reverb, Flashback 2 Delay, Helix Phaser, Viscous Vibe, Sub n Up Octaver, Brainwaves Pitch Shifter, Corona Chorus, Hypergravity Compressor, Mimiq Doubler, Vortex Flanger, Pipeline Tap Tremolo, Quintessence Harmony, Sentry Noise Gate and Shaker Vibrato.

Hi Paul, what are you playing when demoing the delay? Sounds familiar, but for some reason I cannot name it
I find modulation pedals like this more of a ,well how often will you honestly use it?I don't do anymore than reverb,vibe,wah-wah.maybe a delay through the loop. But if 80s pop music is your thing here's your toy.
I don't know if you notice this mate. But every demo you do, you play the Andy Summers "Every breath you take" chords and the same lead licks! Mix it up a bit!
Jesus Christ, their firmware/software is an absolute mess. I just got mine a few days ago, and the first thing I tried to do was set each slot to A/B mode and replace all of the factory presets with my own, and this basically ruined the device and caused it to never be able to save anything and the thing keeps crashing every few minutes. Get your shit together, Uli.
Nice tones but from my experience of owning a single TC pedal the build quality is… it literally fell apart and of course, they didn’t honour their warranty. With so many other options out there…
The whole damn point of the Plethora series was to have a flexible multi effects pedal that covered 5, then 3 effects at once. WTF am I supposed to do with ONE pedal. Hahahahaha. Fail.
Sounds are great, but that fretboard is not so great. I've never met a guitar i didn't like. I love guitar more than anything, but it just looks like neglect to let the fretboard get that grungy, no? I know the "vintage" thing is a thing, and if this is... Nvm, I really am just trying to understand the appeal of artificially distressed and original just plain old beat up looking guitars. Maybe I just remember my folks saying if you take good care of the thing, I'll buy it for you, when i was a kid. Again, it's not my place to say it's wrong, just if anyone can explain why one either didn't take good care of their original, or paid extra for someone to distress it. Thanks in advance.
I am a big adopter of MIDI, and admit it would be cool to have onthis, , but for the price-point I can deal with the simplicity of it in a limited range gigging environment. The Alter Ego x 4 has MIDI but the implementation is pretty poor. No ability to change midi Channel for instance and only selects 3 presets.
Just checked on Thomann site. There’s a 5-7 weeks wait! That is about 1 light year in guitar gear time.
Sweetwater check them out
@ I’m in France and the fees make it expensive, so Thomann get the business. Also 30 day returns make dealing with them really useful.
Not want to be that guy… but a light year is a distance, not time 🙂
@ … it’s the ‘year’ part that creates the confusion, right? How far in one year… see this is why I cant be trusted with MIDI

Unfortunately it hasn't the Midi Out and this is incredible lack for something that is supposed to replace a pedalboard.

Does it have the 2290 algorithm in it from the tc electronic 2290P pedal?
So can you make a patch out of the effects dialed in or is it only one pedal effect at a time. To that I say you’ll need 7 of them
