Not to have to worry about cost is a luxury itself

I grew up in Vegas but probably far different than the one you know. I left Vegas in 1968. Went back a few yrs ago because my dad lived in BC and needed help. I was shocked! How it’s changed. Moving on! Massages are the best! Like you eluded to, it’s makes it hard to justify getting one anywhere else! Watching your videos is making me want to visit again!

I live in Singapore and rarely go to a nice restaurant, get a ride-share, or get a massage here because it is too expensive. It is really nice to be able to do all of these things without worrying about the cost when I visit Thailand

Having a full-time or live-in house keeper is still very common for upper middle income families, what has changed over the years is that most housekeepers are now immigrants, from Laos or Myanmar. Some are legal, some are not.

The first thing that came to mind for me was massages. In Bangkok the place I go to charges 850 baht ($25) + 200 baht tip for a 2 hr Thai massage. The place I found in El Cerrito, California (SF Bay Area) that gave equally good massages cost $120 (2 hr) + $20 tip.
The first time I ever got a massage was in Bangkok. I've been going to the same place since 2105. For most of my 6 years in Bangkok I was going once per week. I had also met 2 girls that work there that gave excellent massages and I go to them exclusively.
Housecleaning - our house cleaner here in the countryside is not live-in but she comes 6 days per week. She works all day. We pay her 7,000 baht/month ($210).
I rented a condo in central Bangkok, near the Phra Khanong BTS station. It was a 1 bedroom, 50 sq meter (530 sq ft) condo. The rent was 25,000 baht/mo ($745). The rent stayed the same the 6 years we were there. I inquired last week about returning there and she said the rent would be the same.

    Ramze,
Does your live-in house keeper do all the laundry, clean the house, run errands for you, do the grocery shopping, cook meals for you, and of course pet sit?
Can she legally drive a car?
In another video you stated what you pay her (shhhh...I won't tell anyone) and she also gets free rent, food, utilities, and fast internet.
Did you also get her or pay for her cellphone bill?
A separate video on where and how you found her online (Facebook or Reddit groups, how you set expectations, training, issues, etc would be greatly appreciated.

    • @RamzeTravels
      @RamzeTravels  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

She does everything around the house minus cooking but that was based on our desire since we like to eat out. Anything she does off property is her own responsibility. I do not pay any of her bills but I do help with things when I can (like a visa agent I pay for).
Each one will be different and especially if they’re Thai. I used a Facebook group for Nannies and housekeepers. Our number one reason and job for her is our dogs.

You do you pal. Sounds like you're doing a good job ignoring the haters. People who hate on others success never worked hard enough.
Love that you got full-time dog carer. I might do that. But most BKK condos don't allow dogs obviously.
But I'm leaving too if they start taxing us with no additional benefits.

I've seen a few videos from other Thailand expats claiming the country is expensive to live there, but they all mostly failed to do a comparison of prices to their home country vs Thailand. Some of their argument points said that Thailand is expensive because you can get ripped off in gogo bars and clubs. They also said expats will get charged more on nearly everything compared to what natives are charged. I believe this part is true and a good point, but the overall costs, as you shown, were still far less compared to a similar area in the US. It's a give or take situation for expats.

Speaking of eating out, the last few days I have gone out for dinner and they were some of my most expensive meals - $10 & $12. Usually breakfast is between $3 and $6 for some variation on an "English Breakfast", serving size is a bit smaller than in the US, but still a good meal.

@@mattlawrence7130 Top restaurants are about 1000 baht per person, that is around $30. You can eat even cheaper like $2 if you really want to go cheap. I spend on average around 120.000 baht a month in Thailand. If the Thai government wants to tax me 30% fine ,I will be cutting back to 80.000 a month.

You should do a video on private boat charters to small islands with beautiful water. In the Philippines, they have private boat charters and they will make you lunch on a little island where they take you to. I’m sure Thailand has to have the same.

Love this topic the real reason to move anywhere outside of your country. The ability to afford to buy the nice things you can’t afford wherever you’re from.
    1. 3 legit massages a week. This includes facial massage, feet massage
    2. 1-2 massages that end Happy a week
    3. I enjoy a strait razor shave 2-3 times a week
    4. Daily Restaurant visits
    5. Sports club yoga, palates, badminton and Thi chi practice sessions
This is why I’m moving from where I live now Las Vegas. You can’t afford those luxuries that frequently, plus pay for your housing utilities. Now I prefer to live in BKK over Pattaya but to each their own

It will vary depending on where you live, if you need a fluent english speaker, and credentials. There are plenty of live-in nannies, nurses, and maids for a relatively low cost. For you situation, I would think $300usd/month is a decent starting point but if you want someone credentialed and a fluent English speaker, it can go up from there (double or more). It really depends on your needs but I’ve had success with this personally. It’s totally viable with good research and patience.
