I'm so excited to experience the new pancake style lenses of the Quest 3! What accessories should I consider that you enjoy using in VR? List them below. 👇🏻
Your joyful reactions are fun to watch, and gleeful enthusiasm is contagious! You make me smile. I've been hoping that your channel blows up. I'm very very happy for you! I hope to run into you "in the wild". - KrispRatStarLard
Thank you sir! That's very, very kind of you. I'd be humbled to meet a fan in the wild. It'd feel like it was a dream. That's only happened to me once years ago and it was a local that watched my guitar music channel.
Awesome, you're gonna absolutely love it I can already tell! I would keep the battery connected on the back though even though it's not connected just for the nice balanced weight distrubution on the head it will give you.
This was a great video! I'd recommend trying out the Content Adaptive Brightness Control in the experimental settings! It really helps bring out the deep blacks in some games! Although it can create some weird flashes sometimes. And its not your fault for thinking the passthrough would be better. I'm sure you've noticed through your recordings that it looks much clearer when viewing it on a flatscreen and not through the headset. This is mainly due to how in VR the pixels on the screens are stretched out over your field of view (ofc the lenses and software deal with the distortion) and it makes the passthrough much noiser compared to viewing it on a smaller screen. Same with the environments like Cyber City where in headset its low res but in recordings it doesn't seem so. When you start playing standalone exclusive games like Batman: Arkham Shadow I'd recommend purchasing Quest Games Optimizer which helps a lot with increasing the resolution of games at the cost of battery life (thats what the headstrap batteries are for!) Hope you enjoy the headset!$
Thank you!! Yeah makes sense about the passthrough. Since Batman is standalone, how would I record it? I'm afraid the recorded quality won't as good to record on my VR headset directly at 20 Mbps. is that what creators are doing to record gameplay? I wonder if I can link cable and record through oculus mirror as usual? It installed directly onto the Quest. Maybe that's the only way? I thought it would install to my PC like Lone Echo did.
@ yeah the default recording for quest isnt great. you can record at 60fps and 20mbps but the fov is wonky. most people ik use the wired casting in the quest dev hub. maybe you can do oculus mirror
@duoduos9221 Yeah if I can use Oculus mirror that would be good. I don't mind the Link cable. I've grown accustomed to the look and the quality recording off of mirror. And I can easily overlay my heart rate monitor if I want to with OBS. ☺️
I was constantly tying myself in knots with a link cable so now I have a wiFi 6e router dedicated just to the quest and it works as well as the link cable. Having said that, the link cable kept my quest 3 going for as long as I played without any problem.
That's very nice James! I have to admit I'm one of the skeptical, cautious ones when it comes to lots of high output Wi-Fi next to my head directly. But even with those fears aside, yeah I would have to upgrade my Wi-Fi too and then find a wireless gaming headset that works well for recording my voice. But I also get nervous about wireless cutting out on me. At least with hardwired everything it seems like it would be most reliable. I wonder how the latency is?
@@beyond_xen There's almost no discernable latency on wifi as long as the headset is the only device connected to the 5ghz band of the router. I had to get a new netgear nighthawk wifi 6 router because my old one died, and i've not had any issues with my quest 3 and any lag as long as i've had it.
how do you feel about the prescription lenses, im planning to buy a vr and want to invest in buying them but idk if they're worth! also really neat picks on the accessories, if the budget wasn't a problem i would've opted for the same exact gear you've got going
There's a good video out there comparing all the different prescription lenses you can buy for the quest 3. Now that I have them, I believe that it's worth it because you can push the goggles closer to your face so you get a little bit more field of view. It's also nice to not have something between you and the headset lenses. It's more comfortable too.
It was fun to watch your reactions. The resolution is even better if you sideload quest game optimizer. Try the aquarium home environment. Super awesome.
@beyond_xen it definitely will. You should probably only use it while not recording. You can choose to launch from the regular launcher or the qgo launcher. You can also launch with or without optimization from the qgo launcher.
Yoi got the full set up! Sweet! Dude i use the bobo strap the same but the only difference i got the quest pro controllers and i cant go back to the normal ones now 🤣 Love the added weight of them and the tracking is ace, being able to put them behind your back, out of view, 1 infront of the other and they still fully track is just ace in many games 🤘🤘
Oh wow that's cool! I'm not aware of how these controllers track and I feel like you've given me insight on how they work. Sounds like the pros are worth it. Someone told me I could use the battery as a balance weight on my BoboVR headstrap. I now remember hearing Jay Bratt or someone saying that.
@beyond_xen those controllers are fine but like the quest 2 controllers they rely on being in line of sight of the headset cameras still. The pro controllers have there own cameras on both controllers so i can literally put my hands behind my back and they know where they are, you cant beat it (they are maybe a little expensive but for me worth every penny) And they come with a charging dock to sit on when not being used 🤘
you can still use the fan without plugging into the quest. might be a reason to keep the extra battery, I'm not sure. I just know the fan was something i was skeptical about and after using it I consider it a game changer.
Really enjoyed your enthusiasm in discovering the Meta Quest 3. After playing the First Encounters game, you need to try Starship Home. That game literally transforms your space into a spaceship as it's a mixed-reality game also. If you like scary games or at least are willing to try it then you need to experience the game Drop Dead: The Cabin which has a mixed-reality mode called Home Invasion and it's crazy to have Zombies invading your home. Trust me, you need to try that game. Really enjoyed your experience so far and will be watching your next video I saw you already posted. Take care 😊.
If you want to have the most comfortable facial interface to go with your S3 headset, consider the custom- made Oblik. It’s pricey, but it’s custom made just for your face so you can play VR for hours! The Oblik has vents that fit perfectly with the S3 so if u do use the fan it will cool you off nicely. Also consider a charging dock (PRISM XR Carina?) that charges your Quest 3 via the prongs at the bottom of the Quest 3. Those are just a few of my suggestions….
Yoooo! I just got the Quest 3S, I was even thinking of a Combine decal for it lol And I think I have the perfect idea for what accessories to buy... Oh, and it comes with a batman vr game, You should play it, it's fun!
That's cool! Yeah, Etsy has a lot of cool decals to choose from so many talented artists. I might play Batman but without knowledge of the universe it's definitely going to be a blind playthrough.
@@beyond_xen there will be a lot of references to the other flatscreen arkham games and other batman media ofc but its not necessary to understand the storyline or characters :)
Nice one m8! - Have you thought about trying some FLAT games in VR with the UEVR mod? Games like 'SCORN' and 'Atomic Heart' look AMAZING in VR. UEVR is easy to set up and I do have plenty of guides on my channel to help.
7:50 It's not placebo effect, Meta have made major improvements to the passthrough quality in later software updates, you got them all at once after updating
Congrats on the upgrade, I'm sure the difference is insane compared to the crap o'vision of the quest 2. Accessories looking good as well and yeah the official ones are insanly overprized for what they are. The AR games are really cool, finally my childhood imagination of running around pretending baddies are in my house behind doors and coming through the windows becomes reality. I've seen cables that had extra inputs so you could charge and use the link cable at the same time, like a y-split thingy but I'm not sure exactly if that would work as I imagen some limitations of the port would get in the way but do correct me if I'm wrong. Sadly I'll probably not be upgrading anytime soon due to other stuff getting in the way.
Thank you! The upgrades are very nice. You're probably right about the USB split cable not working but it's something I should check into just in case. It would be cool if it did.
Yeah I play wireless VR and have a BoBoVR headstrap with extra batteries, I just want to know your reasons for not playing wireless. You get to move around a lot more and don't have to worry about cable management. Glad you got lens inserts, it was the first thing I got on my quest 2, and the first thing I got on my Quest 3. The difference in the lenses between the 2 and 3 is night and day. The edge to edge clarity on pancake lenses makes the quest 3 the better option for people that are upgrading from the 2.
Thank you. There are many reasons. I don't expect everyone to agree with them, but since it was asked...I'll explain my concerns. It's a lot. TLDR is health concerns and reliability while recording. I don't want to play wireless because I'm skeptical of the long-term exposure to wifi on my head. I'd be streaming data so that's a lot of data being transmitted. In case our society finds out 50 years down the road that we are all getting cancer from our phones and wireless devices, I'd like to minimize my exposure. I already use a smartphone and Bluetooth earbuds along with wifi in my house. No need to add to my exposure. I've dealt with enough health problems in my life as it is. Our bodies were were not designed to handle all these EMFs. And I'm probably getting some just wearing the headset which is connected to WiFi anyway. Oh well. That aside, I'd have to upgrade my router setup and it's all the way at the other end of the house (and my PC is hardwired to remedy that. Less latency too.) But even more I'd need to figure out a wireless solution for recording my voice. I could use my lav mic I'm wearing for the unboxing video, but I don't like the sound for gaming when I get animated and yell / scream. You can hear the room. It would need sound treatment. That's a pain and it's a rent house. Or I could find some gaming headphones like I have that are Bluetooth. But would they sound as good? Would the audio dropout? I worry about latency or dropouts for recording - assuming I could still record with OBS. That's where I use my heart rate monitor overlay superimposed on my recorded video of Oculus Mirror. Thank you for reading.
ok. sooo is it too early to pitch you getting a bHaptics vest? Because in the same way that the Quest 3 is a leap from the Quest 2.. the bHaptics vest (i have the 40) adds so much more immersion for the games that support it. If you remember, I mentioned getting it and then restarting HL:A - and it was a completely different thing with that vest on. Anyway - keep it in the back of your mind because it is actually on par if not more so a leap in VR gaming than Q3 is to Q2. Glad you moved up to the Quest 3.. you should check out some of the XR games made for it that just came out (and are coming out)
Thank you! There's always something to upgrade for sure. I think right now I'm going to be looking at upgrading my graphics card to the upcoming higher range 5000 series. I need some more power so I can push graphics even further. I can't even play on the higher graphics settings and it would be nice to without it stuttering.
@duoduos9221 you wouldn't say that if you played hl:a with it. Not to mention, it has 250 vr games it supports, so I'm not sure what you mean. If you put it on and played hl:a you would immediately see its worth.
