That cracked me up! If anything, I thought it might be too chill and would just put people to sleep, but my personality is just kind of laid back like that. Or...maybe that's the point, lulling everyone into a deep slumber so nobody notices the Elder Ones slipping into the room...
I'm glad it helped! There's quite a bit of nuance when it comes to resolution, layer bounds, and all that jazz, but if you have a good starting concept it should serve you well moving forward!
Thanks! I'm glad to hear it! I've got a few things going right now, but I'd love to put together some more Medium tips as they really seem to help those who want to jump in.
It's a lot of fun! VR takes some investment and setup, but I can definitely imagine someone with your artistic inclination could make some really interesting work!
@@ProdigiaGames oh I'm sure it takes plenty of investment, time and much to learn. I think it's amazing. Thank you and thanks for the tips. Maybe one day I will give it a try and I will definitely be learning from you.
That is a good question...I think there is a way to project shapes on existing ones, but I don't remember if there's a snap feature when you're manipulating layers. Let me do some research and see what I can find out!
@@ProdigiaGames Yea, man when i say snapping i mean projecting (same thing) For example i am trying to sculpt an external detail onto a mesh as a separate part but still interact with other mesh/clay..it seems like i am not able to sculpt something onto another thing unless its in the same layer and therefore one single mesh/clay...thanks though hope you get a answer as i am very new to this software..i will try for myself though...THANKS
@@ProdigiaGames hey i know you werent the one asking but 1 way i realised that can help me acheive that same concept i was asking about is assigning different materials to the different clays and then exporting it with materials then in blender (what im using) sperating the single mesh by materials...make sense?
Do you mean to return it to its default position after you move it? If you're not in the same session and do can't undo, then the best you can really do is align it as best as possible, and then cut the layers in half, duplicate, and flip them to make a close approximation. It's a pain, but that's currently the best solution. To prevent issues, most of the advice I've seen is to lock the mirror plane on the layer display so it doesn't accidentally get moved.
Hi there! Sorry for the delay, for some reason I'm not getting comment notifications lately. As a PC user, I'm talking a bit out of my depth, but if there is an Oculus hub application for Mac, it should be possible. It is accessed by going to "Adobe Medium" within the Oculus store. On a laptop, there may be some lag issues depending on RAM and graphics, but it all depends on your setup. If you do have further problems, the Medium by Adobe Artists group on Facebook is super helpful with any technical help.
@@mikeshinoda703 Happy to help in whatever way I could! Even if you have gotten it going without issue, I'd still recommend checking out the artist community on Facebook as that has been a great place to find inspiration and pointers, as well as smoothing out any headaches when learning the feel for the process.
Hello! I am struggling with the way to manage stamps in medium and I am asking everywhere like crazy hoping someone know the answer. Doing it inside medium feels extremely inefficient and tedious: You have to manually import every stamp and then move them to a collection one by one. I'm sure there has to be a better way! The optimal way would be doing it via PC folders, but I am confused about how to do it because they don’t usually show up in the program later. Could you please shed some light on this? Thanks a lot!
Hmm... that is a good question. I'm actually thinking about trying to put together a modular building tile set inside Medium, so that would be a very relevant question for me too. Let me see if I can find anything out!
@@ProdigiaGames I asked MechNuggets about the matter and aswered the following: Hey! yeah i know its super annoying to do. I havent found any easy way to organize them with PC folders but i found a workaround. 1- import 1 new brush normally 2- change that new brush to a new collection 3- edit that new collection 4- import the rest of your brushes to that new collection (you can shift+click when importing to import all the brushes at once) that way you only have to move to a new collection once Looks like the least bad way to do it! Hope it helps
Interesting! That's actually not too bad, as long as you're organized in your source folder to import. And I just heard the other day that things like exporting still happen in the background even if you're not wearing your headset, so I THINK (forgive me if I'm wrong) you don't need to sit and wait for your meshes to import if you have a lot of them, you can go do something else and come back after a little bit.
Is there any chance you and I can work cooperatively on something so you can show me some things that will stick with me better than a video would? I have Type 1 Autism so my mind wonders a lot when watching videos. I want to try working on something with someone there to join in because I've never done so before. And I also want to learn some fundamental principles that I'll need to repeat over and over again if I want to continue making models.
So sorry for the late reply! For some reason the notification never came up in my YT app, it was only visible when I finally logged into YT Studio again (which I've been not great about doing for the moment). So what you're thinking is doing something like studio share? So that you can work on something side by side in the virtual space? That is an intriguing thought, despite my admitted lack of being a real master of the process. What kinds of things do you want to create? Who is the best help to you depends on what you want to get great with (organics/characters, hard surface, vehicles, etc.) If I can't help directly I'd love to point you in the right direction if I can!
@@ProdigiaGames 3 years ago I was going to animate a Dragonball style fight between 2 original characters from my brand. Back then I was working with a 2D software called "Spriter" until I found out from one of the devs that it wasn't intended for story based animation. Because of that set back, I got VR software and figured I'd dabble in the 3D department to try and restart the project with 3D models. So far I've tried Gravity Sketch and Medium, and I can't seem to get anything meaningful going. My goal is to make a super hero, and super villain character in a Disney & Pixar type of style. Minimalist yet still able to be animated with tons of facial expressions. Everything I've produced so far has been really disappointing. So yes I'd like to share a digital space with someone and have them show me how to properly achieve the look I'm after.
If you go into the layer options menu (where you can do things like increasing the resolution), as long as you have more than one layer selected, the "Merge" option should be highlighted. If I recall, the layers you have checked will be merged into the active layer, so make sure you've selected the one with the highest resolution of them all, as the merged layers will change to match the target layer. That means if your active layer is low res, then you'll lose a lot of detail.
I love how calm and informative this is, while just casually sculpting an eldritch horror in the background
