You mentioned the BOSS. I had an A-bolt in .270 and reloaded for it. The Boss is basically a tuning micrometer that had a sweet spot when you found it. I could shoot 3-shot groups in the same hole. I’m not sure why this concept never took off because it was unreal for accuracy.
I have a BAR 338 win mag got it as a gift from my wife's grandpa, really like the rifle. Mine prefers 185gr bullets😃 It's my wild bore champion now Thanks for a nice video 👍
I believe there are BAR Mark II rifles chambered for 458 Winchester Magnum and 416 Taylor produced by a custom rifle maker. I read about them and believe they are still being made. That is an exceptional interesting rifle I remember from years past.👍
Thanks for the video, please do a breakdown on disassembly and re-assembly of the newer Safari Mark ll .270 everything on line is of the older models, parts have changed and the older videos are terrible quality when it comes to individual parts and assemblies. Great rifles, little info on the newer ones on proper breakdown and cleaning. Love the channel.
I always wanted a Browning Safari im 30/06. Everyone i looked at had rust showing on the rear tang of the receiver. I am still looking for one, but that saltwood scares me off from purchasing those rifles.
Here in France the majority of the hunters have a bar rifle lots of mark 3 and mark 4 in 30.06 7mm or 300 mag i use the mark 2 in 270 win i prefer the old look with a red dot
I'm having difficulty finding what calibers the original Belgium made Browning sporting rifles were released in. I know that there was a 243, 270, 7mm, 30-06, 300 win mag and 338 win mag. But are there any other calibers?
Great video! Im looking at getting a 1968 30-06 Made in Belgium 267**M8 looks to be a grade 1. What can you tell me about it? Are these better left as is and well lubed or re-finish. Any reservations shooting? Ballpark value? Thanks again for such am informative video about the product line.
My understanding from SHOT Show is that the model is being discontinued. To my knowledge there is no announced replacement at least with the Browning name. I wouldn't be completely surprised if FN introduces something down the road like they did with the Hi Power but that may just be wishful thinking. Hopefully Browning reconsiders but i imagine production cost vs sales numbers made the decision, again much like the Hi Power.
If you are in Europe, you can soon get what they are calling BAR 4x. It has a few changes to it, but looks very similar to the Mk3. The 4X comes standard with a threaded barrel and a system to remove and add different styles of open sights, and even a factory reflex sight. They claim it has a more ridgid receiver and a better barrel attachment method, I guess. Also, some kind of a cocking or decocking mechanism at the very back of the receiver. It will probably take a few years to make it to the US, I would imagine. Hopefully, it's not dead.
No offense, but it would be more helpful and interesting to see the rifles up close and the different features that you discuss than your mug for 27 minutes.

I have a 270 win bar with boss and with hand loads it would shoot the same as yours.

Thanks for a nice video 👍
They should bring back the Mark II. I love its classic, sleek lines over the "new age," angular, "pregnant Guppie fish" look of the Mark III.

Wonderful discussion about the BAR. Thank You
Great show today on the Browning BAR. How about one on the T/C Contender?
Thanks a keep up the great work.
Like your videos, keep them coming

Love my BAR 270 and just learned a lot more about it going to get it out of the safe today and see what model it is. Thanks for the knowledge
I have the Longtrac in 9.3x62 and a Safari in 338 Mag and both are very rare now
I always wanted a Browning Safari im 30/06. Everyone i looked at had rust showing on the rear tang of the receiver. I am still looking for one, but that saltwood scares me off from purchasing those rifles.
Have 300 win mag bar and boss and have 1/ 4 in group at 200 yes. Love it.
Great video. Thank you

These videos are awesome!! Can you do the 870?
Man, where can I get one of those like the BAR in the middle?

I think maybe 308 . I know 7mm mag

Thanks again for such am informative video about the product line.
Update: i finally can say i am the proud owner of that BAR. Any guidance is still appreciated.
Interesting post,,,,good to see these compared to the so called experts that may or may not know the difference in model years……
That's too bad these rifles are being discontinued.
Damn salt wood will also cause the poly stock finish to lift
Can you take the salt wood off & clear coat the underside? (Sealing it.)
It's been tried many times and it never seems to work
Hmm. It just seemed to me like sealing the underneath wood side would keep salt from leaching out.
I had a Belgium made one in 270win
I live in belgium. About a 30min drive from liege .i own several bars but not one mk3. The first 2 rule
I have a Browning bar grade 2 in 7mm rem mag made in Belgium the # 60409 can you or someone tell me what year was this gun made
There should be a number and letter(s) in addition to those digits.
Melvin, the start of the S/N ahead of the letter is the year of the gun.
Does anyone think this would be an adequate bear defense gun in Alaska ?
I have a Bennelli R1 in 338 win. Mag.
So 2024 is the last year for the BAR? Is Browning planning on building something to replace it?
