    Thank you for this video. I really love this rifle but after trying lots of different ammo, am having lots of feed issues, particularly with lighter grain and hollow point loads. Will try what you suggest for sure. Really appreciate the community spirit in releasing something to help out the rest of us.

    Paul ,
    It worked …
    Thank you for taking time to do this
    It took four turns really slowly for me to get to the point where it would cycle .
    You are correct there is not a lot of information out there .
    Thank you again I have a functioning BAR now .
    Here is what I put on one of the Browning sites bragging on the gun ….
    I had significant jamming on my new 30 Ott six mark III BAR .
    There is an adjustable gas block under the forearm .
    If anyone is interested …
    I loosened the number 2 Allen screw .
    It keeps the adjustment screw where you put it .
    I turned the adjustment screw all the way in , turned it three complete turns out . Jammed !
    (my first attempt.)
    Then I turned it a half turn more.
    ( my 2nd attempt)
    It’s still continue to jam .
    (3rd time was a charm .)
    I turned it one more half turn ,
    If anyone is counting, that is four complete turns out .
    I shot 10 rounds through it and it did not jam .
    Everything ejected correctly
    If anyone is having this problem, here’s an answer .
    Maybe not the answer for everyone.
    But the gas block can be adjusted .
    Just do it slowly .
    I’m not saying everyone should try this .
    Happily, this worked for me .

    Thanks for info, my bar didn’t cycle only when cold, checked the set screw and it was turned out 5 full turns from tight from factory . Turned it in and backed it out 3 full turns like posted. Still didn’t cycle. Screwed it back in and out to 6 full turns out. Put gun outside in temps in teens for 2 hrs. Cycles great now.

    Well I'm glad you were able to find a fix for your bar mk III 👍👍. Sadly I couldn't find a quick fix for my Browning AB3 which is still in the shop getting fixed. I bought my AB3 almost 2 months ago I was happy and excited to buy my first hunting rifle. So I took my new out to my nearby gun range to put some rounds in it to see how well the gun worked. Well let's just say the gun didn't perform as well as I hoped. The gun fired and cycled well through the first 15 rounds without any issues. However after that the guns quality went downhill as after the 16th round the gun started having issues with the bolt not going into battery after extracting the spend round and loading in the new round in. So after that I went through process of troubleshooting to find out the issues. Come to find out it was the hook that held in the bolt to gun had sheared off. So I called up Browning and told them the issue so I packed up the gun and took it back to Cabelas where I bought the gun and they sent it back to Browning. 2 months later I'm still waiting for the gun. So far my trust In Browning is not very good. As soon as I get the gun back I'm I'm thinking of selling the gun and buying a Ruger or a savage 110. I will not be buying Browning again after my current treatment. F**k Browning and there cheap ass guns.

    This is so helpful! To think that Browning will not inform you on the field adjustment of their gas operated piston shows that they don’t give a damn about what happens after you walk out of the store. To hear that the magazines have to be filed to load properly and that the mechanics jam at low temperature is enough to get me looking elsewhere for a good semi-auto. Bye bye!

      The BAR works just fine in cold environments. I've used a 30-06 BAR for 9 years in Minnesota and just bought a new BAR DBM in 308.

  • @richheipp1420
    @richheipp1420 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    For the BAR Hells Canyon Speed to run in the cold it must be run absolutely DRY or it will freeze up on you. Us a light film of FP-10 and wipe it dry..
    Regardless of temperature make sure you file down the inside corners of the magazine where the brass shoulder of your cartridge rubs the magazine, then buff and apply FP-10 to the magazine where you have filed and buffed.. Your rounds will now glide into the chamber and the bolt will have a nice sharp action with minimal resistance 😉 👍. After you do all this then check your gas block if you still have ejection issues.
    After modification of all 4 of my magazines my Rifles runs very smooth, very fast with any ammo I load or get off the shelf. My 30-06 get 3" groups at 300 yards with all types of ammo, reload or factory.. never touched the gas block yet.
    If you don't modify your magazines you will be very disappointed with your rifles performance.

    • @Paul-wt6ij

      The reason that happens is the carbon from shooting builds up and when your rifle "sweats" from being warm then cold, the cold to warm, the carbon absorbs the moisture and becomes this gummy shit that causes all kinds of problems. Solution. Keep your weapon extra clean before taking it out in extreme cold. I also leave my rifle in cold as much as possible. I put it in the unheated garage. Good luck

      This is one of the most accurate rifles I have owned. I can shoot 3 a shot group at 100 yards and cover them with a nickle. Once it heats up shots 4 and 5 are all over the board. I am a high percentage shooter and seldom take a second shot as it is not necessary, but have on a rare occasion or two, thru everything I had at shit and a waste of ammo. Heat of the battle. Browning is like John Deer they do not want you to know your own equipment or work on your own equipment. Mine will not lock open on last shot with hand loads using w760. Browning told me not to touch the gas block it could kill me.. Just so you know... Seems to me they would put that in their manual! Not happy with Browning also the screw for the shoulder sling screws right into the gas black how does that make any sense? If it gets loose which mine has it changes cycling.

    I have a BAR in .338 Win Mag (Lightweight Stalker) with the BOSS muzzle brake system. I have a Leupold 3x10x40mm Mark 4 M3 scope on it. The windage dial sticks out about as far as your's does. Does your ejected brass hit the bottom of your windage dial or does it eject straight out to the side and clear the dial?

    • @Paul-wt6ij
      @Paul-wt6ij  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My brass actually hits the receiver, I glued a piece of leather there to stop the brass from dinging it up. You could tune it for throwing the brass. We I first tuned this it thru the brass about 8 feet. Now it's a foot or so. Good luck

    Dear Friend , I have a question for you, as already wrote to you short time ago we have exactly the same Gun, do you have any suggestion for me for a best compatible cartridge for this Gun ? I m still struggling to find the best one lately I tried Winc. accubond ct 180gr but it does nt perform very well at 100mt and more, it seems little be better with Winc. extreme point 180gr.
    (I choses Winchester cartridge because of Browning recommendation )

    HI ! Actually the problem is accuracy I'm still testing the gun at the shooting range at 100mt ( not yet Hunting with it ).
    The shots never go to the same point they are not homogeneous sometime the gap from shot to another shot is approx 10 cm , I dont know how to explain it better, I 'm afraid something wrong with... barrel defect from the factory ? I exclude it depends on the ammunition though I use the manufactured ones that are similar with yours.
    I wanted to share with you all these to understand if you too had this kind of performance problem.
    I'm not new with browning rifle this last one is my fourth purchase and I am experienced hunter as well , but this rifle is disappointing me very much.
    Thank you for your attention and kindness.

    • @Paul-wt6ij

      The only time I have the same problem is when I shoot to much to fast. These rifles will never be as accurate as a bolt action. I shoot one round and wait. Then another round. There is a lot of metal on these and when it heats up alot it effects accuracy. Try this. Shoot a round the run a bore snake thru it between shots, leave the action open and try to keep it from getting to hot. If I pound 5 rounds out of this as fast as I can it happens to me to. Good luck and motogp starts today....yaaaa

      @Paul-wt6ij  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would think you could do this. Not sure about any safety concerns. That being said I would do it in reverse. Loosen index screw and turn in gas regulator screw maybe a half turn and take a shot and work it down slow. I feel if you crank it all the way in at once there is a higher risk then if done slowly. Good luck and let me know how it goes for you. A very interesting approach but I understand advantages to that.

When i went to eject the cartilage it would not eject which caused a another cartilage trying to load and caused a jam. I talk people out of them at this point. If it was me I would send the weapon back, they will most likely be able to make it work, and then I would sell it and buy an older safari grade BAR.

      First and foremost if it is a live ammo jam, bring it to a gunsmith. I have used a wooden dowel like 36 inches long with a diameter that goes down the barrel and tap with a mallet. Before that spray some gun oil down the barrel and let it soak while the rifle is vertical, an extra set of hand will help here next. With rifle vertical one person hold it and pull back on cocking handle and the other put dowel down the barrel and tap the dowel with a mallet. I run a bore snake thru my MK3 every 5 shots at the range to help avoid jams, especially if it is humid. Hope that helps you some, and good luck.
