My grandma and mom made “German Potato Salad.” Vinegar. And hers had bacon in it. Served warm. Brought back memories…
Definitely agree… this is on our bucket list! And German Chocolate cake is my favorite of all cakes!!
A lot of folks call it "Hell in" Georgia, but I love it! Hope you have time to check out some of the state's wonderful waterfalls.
I am 3/4 German and 1/4 Scotch. I have both my German grandma recipes. They both came from Germany before WWII. I almost started a restaurant but others here failed sonI didn’t try. I still do my grandmas recipes. Pork chops in Sauerkraut is one of my great-grandmothers recipes and is part of my birthday dinner every year. She is long passed, but my wife has the recipes. I passed it to my cousins.
Thanks guys! Got to love those mock German towns! Always fun!
Loved the train ride! You guys were clearly having a blast, as cheesy as it may have been. Lots of smiles in this one.
Thanks!!😁
great video my friend. keep update, see you in BALI
Cheers!
Welcome to North Georgia! I live about 45 miles south of Helen. It is a local favorite as well. Camping at the state parks of Vogel or Unicoi is a must for campers. I have been to Helen many times, but it's been a while. This makes me want to head back up there. Hope you saw the Christmas Store? It's open year round. Helen is busy all year round, but during OktoberFest it's mainly just on the weekends.
Hi guys😃 that was very nice! So quaint and fun. Got my new spoon!!! I love it, and that it is light weight. Perfect for stirring up a quick bread. Thanks for making Dave😃. And a rub, rub, rub for Pistol😃 Carey on to more adventurers 😚
Thanks Vickie! Dave is so happy you like your new spoon addition!
Reminds me of Frankenmuth in MI! Thanks for sharing. Need to check it out one of these days.
Y’all are in my neck of the woods. I’m from Blairsville. I love are mountains.
I love Blairsville!
The cake looks wonderful. And the salads and I love the train. Lol! Bless you three and have a great day.
You too!!
Always fun in hellen love the bakery and general store. Been there a few times ,hope you enjoyed it.
We did! Thanks!
Love German food!! Looks like a great place! Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome!
My mom made german potato salad. It has BACON in it. So, that's like a no brainer.
You like small towns you need to check out hot springs North Carolina has camping resort & spa back in the mountains
I could not stop smiling as the three of you rode the train. Having made much of my living through tourism (dude ranches, x-c skiing resort, packer/outfitting) I have an appreciation for tourists. But that said, in today's world, the shear volume of tourists nowadays is just too much. The 1980's-90's were soooo much more manageable where tourism is concerned. Nicole and I tend to avoid high density tourism hot spots. Great video, as usual guys. Be well and... Carey On!
We’re all tourists at one time or another:) We are working on relaxing around crowds;)
@@CareyOnVagabond Thank you got the reminder. I need to work on being less anxious around crowds as well. My biggest challenge has been the near non-stop crowds of tourist here in Bozeman. But you are correct, we are all tourists at some point. Carey On!
I was thinking it looks just like leavenworth too. Idk it was a thing and there were towns similar in other states. Pretty cool.
Ha, been there, done that… “thing with crowds” too. Tubed down that river…uhh, creek. 🙄
Love German potato salad, never made it from scratch so please share your recipe when figure it out
Will do:)
What was the music they were playing on the train? Hilarious!!! I LOVE German Chocolate Cake 🎂!!!! My all time favorite!!!!
It really seems to be like in Europe
Was für ein großartiger ort für wurst und bier! Prost! Carey on...xoxo Cella & Sugar
Cheers!!🍺🍺
I was cheering when I saw Pistol on the train with ya. Next time you’re in the Sacramento area you have to try my German Chocolate Cake. Best you’ll ever have.😉
We’ll remember that:)
That was cool. You aren`t starving.
We do know how to eat😂
Huh! that one was a good one. Sauerkraut and wurst. Delicious. Viel gutes Essen in Deutschland. Auf Wiedersehen!
All of it was sooo good!
Thanks again. Was that beer a Doppleboch? Leavenworth Washington is much like Helen, but with snow. What's that town past Leavenworth? Twelveworth?
I don’t recall what the beer was but that might be it. Leavenworth also has a lot in town that rvs can stay in for free! Or at least they used too. What’s Leavenworth? At least a few bucks;)
When in Helen did you buy Goolashes to keep your feet dry in preparation for Winter?
I see what you did there;)
@@CareyOnVagabond Okay you got me
Search for sausage, shouldn’t you be back in the camper in bed! LOL! Hehehe! JK!
