  • Erick is in for a treat at Helen, GA’s Oktoberfest and it appears he might need an outfit change. Erick learns from Helen Oktoberfest’s executive director, Renee Chacon, that the city used to be a failing lumber town and needed some help to keep it alive, which is why it is now known for its Bavarian-style building. The town now holds the world record for longest-running Oktoberfest of 48 years.

    OH !! the stories I could tell about Helen, Ga. In the late '70's / early '80's when I was the Budweiser salesman for Helen, Ga. The Hot Air Balloon Races / The Budweiser Clydesdales on Parade !! My best memories was the HUGE paychecks I got from Budweiser Sales. Just kidding. I truly loved those days in Helen, Ga. It is a wonderful memory of a lifetime.

    Thank goodness for the veteran that dreamed up a little German town in GA! As a veteran I truly felt a dash of Germany while visiting Helen, but it ain’t nothin’ like the real thing. But Helen, GA is the next best thing.

    I found an abandoned gold mine in Helen, Ga. The Helen and Dahlonega Georgia area was where the 1st gold rush started. I filmed the Helen Ga. gold mine on my TH-cam channel, N.Ga. Mine freaks with my son.

    How is this the oldest Oktoberfest in the world? The one in Munich started in 1810. There are a couple in Southern California that go back to 1969 and 1970.

      The oldest and original is Munich. Nothing close to anything Bavarian but I’m glad they are trying.

      what they mean by longest running is not ending. They don’t mean for it to be first. I think you taking this seriously its all in good fun. Think of it like a theme park of sorts.

    This place, to a certain extent, is what Gatlinburg USED to be like. Nowadays, except for the Village, it is an overrated idiotic tourist shithole trap.

    lol,
    As a german i have to say that this is about as authentic german as disneyland depicts the real USA.
    This is an exaggerated cartoon version of bavaria which maybe corresponds to 10% of reality.
    And bavaria is only one of 16 states.
    That's ridiculous.

      It's all in fun. Something to do if someone wants to get away for a weekend.
      I live in Atlanta, about an hour and half south of there. And yeah it's silly, but it's just for fun.

      This is just the American version of something we’ve altered to make more fun. It’s like our Mexican and Chinese restaurants have just a little to do with the cultures indicated by the sign. Loosen your lederhosen my brother; it’s all in fun. I Love Helen Ga myself and I’ve had some great times there.

    This is cute but nothing close to a fraction of the real thing. Look at the real Oktoberfest on TH-cam. Go to Munich if you can afford it.

  • @AlexDollKWA
    @AlexDollKWA 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You might want to check your "facts" there. The longest running Oktoberfest in the world is certainly not in Helen, Georgia. LMAO
    The original public Oktoberfest in Munich goes back to the 19th century. 48 years in Helen? Really? Dude, you're not going to grow as channel with misinformation like this.

      @amapparatistkwabena 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Calm down, man. "The longest running" in this case means "it never ends". That is, it has run since the time it started, and has ever stopped ergo "longest running". That's all. It's a quirk of many languages that lends itself to many words and phrases conveying a plurality of sometimes even seemingly erroneous meanings. You're all worked up about nothing. They are super clear that they are not the oldest in existence. LMAO
