Vinnie has a huge personality and he's a wicked guitar player. Thanks for sitting down with him because this was super interesting! It sucks that he's out of the band but hope he's happy.
I can tell you that he definitely is. And although seeing him out of Exhorder isn’t great, it’s because of that we will see more of his influence in a diversity that wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.
Back in the day I was very much camp Exhorder & heavier music but a very close friend played in a local very popular hair metal band called Shag Nasty. We were out at Last Stop & this friend came up to us & said “Vinnie from Exhorder just threatened me in the bathroom of Dino’s. We gotta get outta here.” We almost pissed ourselves laughing. If you’re gonna go out to the bars looking like that, with makeup & hairspray even when you’re not playing & be “the rockstar” you had to expect stuff like that. Hearing Vinnie recall his attitude back then made me think of that night. Vinnie is the real deal & an absolute legend.
awesome interview with one of the fastest right hands on the mf'n planet! met Vinnie when he came to Montreal w/Exhorder back in 2018; i was fanboying the fuck out and he & Kyle were so friendly & gracious. i was gutted when the news came out that he left the band, but such is life - they gave us at least one new killer Exhorder album together, something i had been hoping for for years. i heard the new Exhorder song that dropped last month and it ain't bad at all and i got high hopes for it, but MAN Vinnie's tone and soul is missing in the equation.
Hey thanks for the comment. I'm happy you were able to meet him! I agree with you. It's disheartening to see the split. But I think you'll soon find out that it has actually enabled him to spread that intensity further. He's incredibly active these days, a fact which will become apparent in the liner notes of many upcoming projects. Thanks for watching!!!
Been a fan all the way back to when I got a 2nd or 3rd gen cassette copy of the Get Rude demo my first trip through tenth grade at East St. John High School, then a couple years later I was at one of the first shows after the SITV album dropped, at Storyville in 1990, one of the top ten best nights of my life to date. Had a great time hanging with Vinnie at a Crowbar show last summer at Southport too, great dude!
That’s awesome man! Yeah he’s a real cool guy. I just did an interview w Kirk Windstein from Crowbar. Part one is live on the podcast ( Neworleansmusicians.com Podcast ). Videos will be out later.
@@neworleansmusiciansKirk and Robin are awesome people too. Kirk signed my E1.6KW guitar for me, very gracious and generous with the fans. Looking forward to that interview!
lol that’s so cool. When I knew we were going to do the interview, I went and found Crowbar’s self-titled ‘93 album I have on cassette. And he signed it for me before the interview. We had a good talk and I found out soo much history.
Used to go to Exhorder gigs in the late 80's early 90's when I was young. Years later got to see them in Houma 2009 with my son and his friends. Saints won the Superbowl that season too.
Initially, they tracked in person for a few sessions. Later, with some of the guys (Type O), part of the work is remote from Jersey (I believe). But they're still moving right along. I do not believe Vinnie has contributed to this work as of now.
The short answer is he was going to get voted out. So, he sold his interest in the band to Kyle Thomas. A longer explanation is he had requests, Kyle had requests, and the two could not come to an agreement.
@@neworleansmusicians Love-hate is the right word for them. Vinny would be the Exhorder if he were there. I heard the new song and that is not 100% Exhorder.
Great interview. Following Exhorder from back in the day to the last 5 years, I was very excited. Loved the last record. Was disappointed it didn’t last with Vinnie. This video offered some clarity.

OMG this is hilarious! And having this interview bring back that memory is priceless! Thanks for watching!!
Best interview I’ve heard in a long time 🤘🏻🎤
Wow thanks!
Great interview! Thanks for this.
Oh thanks so much!
Nice!!! I remember seeing y’all at autozone in Kenner!! God bless you, brother!! Your riffs changed my life in ‘89

Great interview. Vinnies upbringing is very similar to mine 🤘🏻
I swear it was like chatting with an old friend. Glad you enjoyed it!
Kenner was my home too ! I played little league football for wentwood park Mohawks
Mourn The Southern Skies is Epic! Bravo!
Definitely one of my go to albums!
Hows the Eye Am album coming along? Vinnie producing that one too?

I'm not a good English speaker and I need a summary.
Why did Vinnie leave Exhorder? A difference of opinion?
The short answer is he was going to get voted out. So, he sold his interest in the band to Kyle Thomas. A longer explanation is he had requests, Kyle had requests, and the two could not come to an agreement.
