I have been waiting too long for you to start using shoes trees haha. Your last shoes collection video really bother a lot of people and me due to lack of shoes trees. Nice video by the way.
Do they work? I bought them and they stop smelling after few days. And brushing them with sandpaper doesn't give smell back. And I got moths in my closet somewhere lol. They come out from time to time.
Great video! I have everything except the steamer. It definitely on my list to buy. Plus, it looks easier than ironing which can sometimes damage your clothing.
I must be on the right path, since I own all of the five tools you mentioned :-) I have some wooden shoe trees, and for all the other shoes, I keep them in their original boxes and with plastic shoe trees.
For steaming garments I use a wall paper steamer/stripper. The large rectangular plastic pad gives great coverage and held a few inches off the garment stops it getting too wet.
Great to see you making new videos again! Never heard about the sweater shaver, however I've heard you can use a normal cartridge razor to remove the pilling (never tried though)
We were making videos, just not for this channel. Over the past two months we made 25 videos for an online course. I would be VERY careful with a cartridge razor on a sweater…
Be careful with cheap wood hangers as I hand washed a white shirt and hung it to dry only to find out that the hanger stained my shirt. If hanging a wet shirt, use a plastic hanger and transfer to a wood hanger only when dry. I may get some spray varnish to seal the stain in my hangers. #6 a hat brush (you can make due with a clothes brush but a hat brush is curved for the brim) #7 a good case to keep cufflinks from scratching each other.
Cedar shoe trees are quite inexpensive. If you can afford expensive shoes, you can afford shoe trees for all of them. Also, go for cedar hangers too. They’ll keep pests away and will make your closet smell really nice.
I use a fabric brush that has a black padding on opposite side that does the same as a lint roller with out sticky material, therefore, doesn't run out. It also has a built in shoe horn. As far as steamers; I have an upright home steamer along with a Whirlpool Fabric freshner that quickly assembles and is enclosed that can steam multiple shirts and pants @ same time. Steamer does same thing as LG Styler. The one advantage is that since it collapses, you can take it along on trips when staying @ Hotels.
I used to dry clean my shirts after every wash, until I got my self a quality iron. Now I wash and iron them. They last soooo much longer and I save a boat load of money.
Yes, yes, yes. All good. Got the trees, steamer, hangers and brush. Now just a little thing that you need to work on. The finger nails need some tender love and care.
I definitely keep my leather jacket on a suit-style wooden hanger, too. And unfinished cedar is also the best choice for hangers, especially if you're worried about moths.
Wide shoulder unvarnished cedar hangers are readily available and are the best for maintaining the shoulder shape of jackets. Be sure to get the unvarnished hangers; although the varnished ones may look nicer, the varnish defeats the advantages of using cedar
I can't help but wonder whether all this hype for cedar shoe trees is entirely justified. I'm using beech which is significantly cheaper and there are no odor issues. And it's not like my feet don't sweat!
Any tips for the real issues like armpit staining on ones good shirts, black/navy trousers fading or the inside lining of the back of a shoe rubbing through against socks?
Armpit stains occur when the proteins in your sweat react with the aluminum and other chemicals in your antiperspirant. Personally, I had switched over to Dr. Squatch all-natural antiperspirant.
Very informative and useful video. Many great ideas. I am a big fan of “He Spoke Style”, thus, please take the following comment in the spirit of constructive criticism. I’m glad to see that you are now using shoe trees, however; I do not agree with your recommendation to use shoe trees for 24 hours and then insert the shoe tree into another pair of shoes. I believe that shoe trees should be kept in the shoes whenever a pair of shoes are not being worn. This will help maintain the shape of the shoes. It shouldn’t be that big of an investment to purchase a pair of quality cedar shoe trees for every pair of shoes in one’s wardrobe. Woodlore, a Wisconsin, U.S. based subsidiary of Allen Edmonds frequently has shoe trees on sale and available for $20 to $25 a pair. Just an FYI and one person’s opinion.
Laughing my aas off seeing Vladimir Riché question you about shoetrees in your shoes at 4:18min. That so him. Of course he would notice something like that 😂.
On Ebay you can find cedar shoe trees for around 17 euro a pair, so I got around 30 pairs of them....they might come from China but who cares, it´s just 2 pieces of wood in a foot shape, no need to pay a lot for them :-)......a couple of plastic shoe trees just for travelling are great as well, they weigh like nothing, where the wooden ones quickly bump up the weight and space of your luggage.
Is it an optical illusion or are you wearing the waist of your jeans a bit lower than the trousers? If this is a conscious decision, can you explain why?
I swear by cedar shoe trees. My feet used to smell like- and I’m not exaggerating here- rotting vegetables soaked in caramel. I started using shoe trees and they don’t smell bad anymore at all.
They’re absolutely nobrainers when it comes to shoe health. Also, never wear a pair of shoes two days in a row. Let them rest for 24hrs between wears so they dry out completely.
You are going to want unfinished hangars aswell. Frankly I don’t understand why they are finishing the wood on either when it kills part of its purpose
Hello Brian, I am currently starting my very own custom suit company. The name of it is James Alyn. Its my two middle names. When I finally get things off the ground, I love to send you a suit if possible. If this would be possible please let me know! Thank you for helping me recognize my love for high end clothing and dressing nice.
Assuming you're in Europe, you can get some pretty nice-looking ones from Bexley. They have a bulk discount where you can get 2 pairs of shoe trees for 39€ or 4 pairs for 69€ (not counting VAT and shipping though, I'm guessing).
Lately I stopped watching your videos because your sponsoring are kind of off topic. it seems that your videos are just meant to be product placements to make cash. big quality decrease! I'm sorry for that harsh critique but Im feeling really sad about this development.
I really appreciate your channel because you don't try to act like you know everything.
A true gentleman,love your videos!
I found the advice on rotating the shoe trees very good. Potentially saved a lot of money.
Exactly.
I have been waiting too long for you to start using shoes trees haha. Your last shoes collection video really bother a lot of people and me due to lack of shoes trees. Nice video by the way.
More to come!
I use those hotel bathroom slippers as makeshift shoe trees, and they work pretty well. I learnt this from a video by Luke Evans
Love the pro lighting.
Many thanks! Appreciate you noticing those little details.
Nice take, Brian. I would also add that cedar blocks or rings would also help a lot in maintaining a wardrobe fresh and safe.
Yes, indeed. Thanks for sharing.

This video is just what I needed! This channel continues to take my wardrobe game to the next level 🔥
Nice! Love to hear that!
The image quality is outstanding!
Thanks!

Oh, yeah. But I would still recommend ironing shirts and pants.
@@hespokestyle Agree. My ironing has come a long way since the beginning. That maybe a topic you could give some tips on.
Bro you're so chilled. Definitely subscribing to the channel

I only use those thin velvet hangers for my shirts.
Another hss video means another great day! I would like some more in-depth information about keeping leather and suede shoes looking good.
Great idea! Thanks for the support!
This is great video of essentials, Brian. It's nice to see you back. Thank you, as always.
Appreciate that, Daniel.
Cedar shoe trees are quite inexpensive. If you can afford expensive shoes, you can afford shoe trees for all of them. Also, go for cedar hangers too. They’ll keep pests away and will make your closet smell really nice.
I can agree with this, recently started using cedar hangers and I don't know why I didn't do it sooner.
Thanks for chiming in.
Thanks for the comment!
Most people can't afford shoe trees for all of their shoes. Just use the shoe trees on the ones you wore last.
@@muffemod like I said…..
Great gift ideas I watch your nice videos from Morocco , you spoke style really

Hi Brian
Great Video
Thanks for your Tips
My pleasure!
Well said on the fabric brush and shoe trees! Small price to pay to extend the life of you garments and shoes! 😀
Thanks, as always, Javi!
I was already missing He Spoke Style; I am glad you are back. 😊
Many thanks!
Thanks for the tips Brian 👍🏽

Fully motivated, thank you Brian.

Hi Brian. Back in the DC area after two years overseas. I found my steamer to be indispensable.
Question I was hoping you'd address here; how do you store your ties? Roll them or hang them?
Welcome back, good topic.
Many thanks, Christopher!
Nice video! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Perfect gig line!
Yeah!
Yes, yes, yes. All good. Got the trees, steamer, hangers and brush. Now just a little thing that you need to work on. The finger nails need some tender love and care.
Haha! Cheers. And noted.
Awesome video, thanks a lot !
Glad you liked it!

I remember the "backlash" on the shoes video 😔. That camp shirt is really nice! - Han
Who could forget it?!
I would add the Saphir shoe care line (polish, cleaner, etc…)
Those lint rollers also pull fabric fibres apart, especially more sensitive stuff like wool.
La camisa que llevas puesta esta excelente

I'm a bit surprised that you didn't mention the styler as an addendum for item #4, especially given that you have one. But overall, good video!
Yup! It's a great piece of equipment for sure.
Sartorial Talks did a great episode on this topic recently too.
Cool!

Thanks for the video. Honestly didn’t even know non commercial steamers existed.
Now you do! And you're most welcome.
Is it an optical illusion or are you wearing the waist of your jeans a bit lower than the trousers? If this is a conscious decision, can you explain why?
Jeans are often times lower waisted than trousers especially if they are high rise with side tabs.
Jeans are typically lower rise. My trousers are all "normal" or standard rise, which to many may seem like a high rise.
Yup
Welcome back sir
Thanks!

Keep your shoes in the shoe dust bag they came in and in the original box along with cedar shoe trees
I would add cedar moth balls to this list for storing seasonal garments.
Most useful advice ever "at least keep shoes just worn on shoe trees for 24h".

Haha. Cheers!
I am a bit surprised to see a style influencer wearing Duluth Trading clothes.
Never plastic shoes trees . Only wooden
Agreed! Using plastic shoe trees is equivalent to using wire hangers for your suits
Cheap shoe trees anywhere? Can't spend 40€ on a wooden shoe tree.
Nordstrom rack or Amazon have cedar shoe trees for $20 a pair
Assuming you're in Europe, you can get some pretty nice-looking ones from Bexley.
