This is crazy to see as a 20 year old down to his last few years of baseball in college. I grew up with the gloves kids today call “vintage”. The KP92 was so big in the outfield for the longest time, 1786 with single X lacing (yes they used to make them that way) was on everyone’s hand. I remember when the DatDude (now 1720) was “state of the art” and Pedroia fit was some outlandish thing. Those gloves transitioned us to these thicker, ultra comfortable with perfect round shape gloves we see in modern A2Ks and PPs. This video marks a shift in baseball that the glove community has been embracing these last couple years to the thin, boxy, straight, squared off Japanese gloves. It’s crazy that this is going to start being the new normal. I see Wilson bringing their Wilson Staffs as more than a limited run in the US. I see Rawlings making their Japanese HoH models in hard ball versions. I see mizuno becoming more popular. I see small brands like Jax, atoms, and Zett blowing up in the American market. This video is the future. It is the transition point. Mark my words
I don’t think so. I think the glove markets degrading for stupid stuff like spin control and ice cream looking/smelling leather. Most companies are caught up in the wrong stuff now a days. I just want some classic patterns with nice rugged leather.
@@navalsealsnipersports1199 yea I shouldn’t have called spin control dumb. It’s actually not that bad. I do remember using SSK’s with forms of spin control 16 + years ago though. I just really miss the kp92 pattern, and the old heart of the hide feel. Too many worried about the “drip” on the field.
@@LeatherHeads I’m not gonna go out and say spin control is good either, I don’t personally use it, and I prefer the more durable traditional leather. Could you do a review of the Japanese Wilson models? There are a few models that are only available in Japan so it would be cool to compare them with American Wilson models imo
So I got a Soto baseball glove at a yard sale when I was 5 or 6 and because of how long I've had the glove and it still has good form I'm think about getting another one but all there gloves are 250$ custom gloves and I don't know if there worth it and there are no good reviews on the glove anywhere else. So I'm turning to you the King of baseball gloves to hopefully review it
Right so there’s a big difference between Japanese Wilson’s and American ones. I’m not sure why but they don’t like sending Japanese Wilson’s to the US. The Wilson guys here would love it if they would but it’s uncommon. Anyway yeah it’s really an American glove
Have you reviewed any warstic gloves. They have some nice looking gloves but i would be interested in knowing if they hold up like the bats do before i buy them.
How did you break in the Black Jax DM5 like that? It looks like a Kasukawa break in! I’ve been trying to break them in like that and I have two gloves that I think I came pretty close. Any tips would be much appreciated. And if you can do one like that, I’ll send you a bunch of gloves lol no for real.

Where do you buy Jax glove? Ordered a Wilson teddy bear from Japan for my son and it was a really tough break-in. Still having a few issues with the ball popping out. For some reason.
Search Jax Batting Gloves and you’ll find their website for sure 👌 Ball popping out likely has to do with break-in, size of his hands, or glove isn’t broke in enough
