I've never played Danganronpa so I can't say how this compares, but so far the detective stuff really reminds me of Judgement, which I like, maybe a little more interesting than the original Judgement in that respect. As for the overworld I can't comment. Theres lots of story, the battles of logic in the mystery labyrinth sort of remind me of a more interactive version of the insult battles in the monkey island games. Did I mention the game is gorgeous? I'm not too fussy about graphics but I do appreciate when the image is clean, clear and smooth (regarding framerate ). I don't mind Yuma not having much confidence at first, since I'm pretty insecure myself and so can easily relate to him. He kinda reminds me of Atsushi from Bungou Stray Dogs, though being voiced by Kenji from the same series probably helps.
I believe it's a timed exclusive. I can't imagine they'd just leave this on the Switch. Unless it's a 1st party game or a 2D indie I've been skipping out on some Switch games lately.

Good review! It’s good to hear that it’s a quality game. Been eagerly waiting to get a Danganronpa fix. Hopefully it will come to other platforms one day!
Well, the DLCs are coming up next so we may have hope for the possible backstories and character interactions, wonder if there's a DLC exclusive world perhaps but we may have to wait for it.
Wait. I didn't know before reading your comment that 4 dlc are planned and I don't really appreciate this news since the season pass is not provided in the collector. 😮💨
I like how there’s a pov cutscene where Yuma is looking at a mirror, glances down at the sink, and then when he lifts his head back up his eyes are still closed but he somehow can still see clear as day lol. I just thought that was funny, unless there’s an in universe reason for that, which I’m sure there is lol.
I just have a question about switch etc. I gues you are recording the footage over obs. I wanted to ask is there any way to connect your switch with your pc. I wanted to stream the game for someone over discord, but I just dont know if it is possible. If anyone knows a way can you please tell me?
It's possible but to do it legally you need a capture card, which costs a certain amount of money and is not profitable if you want to stream your gameplay to only one person. If you're still interested, type "how to record and stream Nintendo Switch Gameplay" and you'll find youtube videos telling you how to do it. You also have the option to do like in the 2000s and record your TV screen with your webcam. 🙃 Of course there is another less legal option that does not require the purchase of a capture card for hd gameplay but you need at least a mid-range gaming pc for that.
@@Gonzora hmm I am not intrested in spending more money XD. I think my pc is okay, but not the best. I just looked into it. I do not have a xbox and I think stream labs seems a little bit to anoying (how I understood it you are basically just fillming your switch screen.) It also isnt that important to me. I just thourght it would be cool playing a game while chilling in discord.
Well, the game is a Switch exclusive: the co-writer himself said he didn't want to compete with A and AA games on other platforms, hence the choice of the Switch. In short, a legal pc version is not currently planned.
That reason sounds really dumb, wondering if it is really true or some timed exclusivity is in play. Anyhow I will play it on Steam Deck, one way or the other, it is on publisher to decide. ;)
My only annoyance of the game is that the voices didnt always align with the character's mouth but its a small nitpick and doesn't ruin the game for me. Overall I agree with this review.
But is the actual mystery itself more like dangle romple, or like ghost trick that just came out?? I can only afford to buy one of the two but I just can’t choose and no review is telling me how good the mystery is, just the gameplay!! 😢
Sorry. I’m trying to avoid any spoilers. So I won’t know if you answer this in your video yet: Do you know how the game is supposed to be Azario? Or anyone?
@@NoisyPixelNewsNo delay in my country, however the collector will not arrive until tomorrow at home because Amazon sends new games on the day of release here.
Only thing holding me back from buying the CE is the performance. I can deal with the quality, I assume that would be better docked. My concern is the frame drops. Is it a big deal?
I played it on the OLED Switch so idk if that'll change anything, but I think I might have gotten like one frame drop throughout the entire game? It ran pretty smoothly.
Nope. Kodaka, the co-screenwriter, said this: "While releasing the game on a variety of platforms was discussed, it was ultimately decided that doing so would force the game to compete with other A and AA titles, likely resulting in Rain Code getting buried and lost." In short, the developers believe that the game (or rather its budget) is made for the Switch.
What I meant is that the release day is today and this is the first video I see talking about the game: IGN, GameSpot etc. didn't publish a review yet, and usually they do before the release date
@@pierrotcristian oh but that has many reasons :) the game in general is pretty niche and they also didn’t really do much marketing. It’s more of a *if you know how good these games are you know* kinda thing I would say haha
@@pierrotcristianWell, the two games do not target the same audience so it's normal that the most casual game AND developed by Nintendo is more highlighted. Also, since you're talking about reviews, maybe the embargo says it's not allowed to talk about the game before the official release, hence the lack of reviews until today.
Well, in terms on evolution Danganronpa was nice. The cases were a bit stupid with the timing, making not a logical sense when the game wants you to interupt, and in a few cases where I could have made a case with evidence the game didn't allow for it. The sequel was complete garbage. I couldn't even force myself to get to the end of the first case. I didn't like any of the characters. They were all very obnoxiously cliche, and two dimensional. No point picking up the 3rd on since I never completed the second one, and if quality shows from previous two games, I expect it to decline further. This video still doesn't convince me this is any good.
Danganronpa 2 was garbage??????? It is the most popular danganronpa game well I guess that depends who you ask but you did not give it a shot you thought the first game was meh so you tricked yourself in to thinking that 2 was going to be meh also the characters are two dimensional?????? 2 has the best characters in the franchise give it a shot by at least getting to half way through the 2nd case
@@aidanmajor7269 First game was alright. Meh means means all the good it had matched all the bad it had. That was already mentioned elsewhere. The main plot had me invested, and with that known along with very unlikable characters from the get go for 2 I felt no desire to torment myself with more of the same gamesplay with less enjoyed substance. I did play it enough to justify my opinion of it. I'm not alone either in this opinion. It might have good aspects somewhere within, but this isn't worth my time to put up with trash. Put it this way, a game that isn't good from the get go is poorly thought out. The whole point of making a great opening is to draw attention to the rest. Danganronpa 2 failed to make a good early impression for me. From recollection the teddy from the first game overthrew the teddy from the second, announced changes, and characters were doing their cliche things as normal. Pervs being pervs, angry ones being angry, naive being naive... etc. Very 2d introduction. Power to anyone who likes this kind of stuff.
@Zelknova Thanks for info. I've already taken it off my watchlist. I don't have time for sub-par games, nor the money for them. It looked kinda kool, but visuals aren't what matter to me most.

Good review! It’s good to hear that it’s a quality game. Been eagerly waiting to get a Danganronpa fix. Hopefully it will come to other platforms one day!
Fingers crossed
I almost spit out my coffee when i heard Yuma's last name was 'Kokohead'
Looks amazing
I'm just on chapter 1 and it's been quite the intriguing game so far ! anyone else getting persona 4 vibes from this?
Well, the DLCs are coming up next so we may have hope for the possible backstories and character interactions, wonder if there's a DLC exclusive world perhaps but we may have to wait for it.
True!
Wait. I didn't know before reading your comment that 4 dlc are planned and I don't really appreciate this news since the season pass is not provided in the collector. 😮💨
I hope there is sequel for this game even if they put new main character or the same
Just pre ordered it looked good from the start
since this was made in Unreal Engine, I'm going to play this in full VR using UEVR
Getting my Asian limited edition today! ❤
Lets goooo
Good to hear! Puzzle mystery we need more
I'm down
I like how there’s a pov cutscene where Yuma is looking at a mirror, glances down at the sink, and then when he lifts his head back up his eyes are still closed but he somehow can still see clear as day lol.
I just thought that was funny, unless there’s an in universe reason for that, which I’m sure there is lol.
Master detective rain code aka a Danganronpa spiritual successor! Awesome and im getting my copy today
thx 🙏🏻
finally a game to play
i love these type of games
how long to beat the story ?
About 25 hours according to his response to another comment.
Of course there is another less legal option that does not require the purchase of a capture card for hd gameplay but you need at least a mid-range gaming pc for that.
@@Gonzora hmm I am not intrested in spending more money XD. I think my pc is okay, but not the best.
I just looked into it. I do not have a xbox and I think stream labs seems a little bit to anoying (how I understood it you are basically just fillming your switch screen.)
It also isnt that important to me. I just thourght it would be cool playing a game while chilling in discord.
looks cool. hopefully we get a PC release at some point. I dont own a switch.
I couldn't get into the Danganronpa games, but I might give this a try.
Can't wait for this to come to PC
Well, the game is a Switch exclusive: the co-writer himself said he didn't want to compete with A and AA games on other platforms, hence the choice of the Switch.
In short, a legal pc version is not currently planned.
That reason sounds really dumb, wondering if it is really true or some timed exclusivity is in play. Anyhow I will play it on Steam Deck, one way or the other, it is on publisher to decide. ;)
Anyone know if you need the dlc? There are like 4 of them. Just skin? Story content?
Aren't there any descriptions for the dlcs?
Danganronpa is one of my favourite series of all time, very happy this is a great spiritual sequel!
Does anyone know whether this supports 5.1 surround?
this game wouldn't have any problems on the pokemon switch lite right?
Can you please do a legit side by side comparison of the Switch/PS5 version.
Japanese voices all the way,🖤
How does a game that released last month be sold out in most stores?
I only played ai The Somnium Files (both games), how does this compare to them? I loved ai, need something similar, is it?
My only annoyance of the game is that the voices didnt always align with the character's mouth but its a small nitpick and doesn't ruin the game for me. Overall I agree with this review.
Hearing this is a switch exclusive I was immediately disappointed. I'm going to have to see how well it emulates. (I'll still buy it legally)
8:36 Damn. Shinigami has the void in the retail version.
Wait was it not always that way?
Why is nobody talking about the music haha thats like the biggest thing for me in these games.
Oh it’s so good!
Thank you for saying that mate haha glad to hear it! I still have danganronpa music up at my office every day so I’m ready for more :D
Still not released. I can't download it from pixel shop
this game was so fun and then chapter 4 hit and I could definitely tell that spike Chunsoft knows how to make sad games, bc chapter 4 HURT.
I want this on pc so bad
But is the actual mystery itself more like dangle romple, or like ghost trick that just came out?? I can only afford to buy one of the two but I just can’t choose and no review is telling me how good the mystery is, just the gameplay!! 😢
Released Oct 1st 2024 for Xbox Series consoles
They had me at bikini
This is my next game after ff16
I'll play this game one day, prolly when a sales hit.
Sorry. I’m trying to avoid any spoilers. So I won’t know if you answer this in your video yet: Do you know how the game is supposed to be Azario? Or anyone?
How long? 25 hours
@@NoisyPixelNews Yes. Thank you so much!
Wish you didn't spoil the culprit of the first case in the review.
Recent releases + huge backlog too big. This looks ok, will wait till it’s no more than $30 in case I never get around to playing it.
These kinds of games usually only go up in price since it's a niche game and will probably only have so many made.
@@saysoun752 oh I am 100% digital, but thank you. I had no idea that they were limiting the production QTY.
Did anyone physical copy delay?
the limited edition was delayed
@@NoisyPixelNewsNo delay in my country, however the collector will not arrive until tomorrow at home because Amazon sends new games on the day of release here.
I’m really interested in this game, but is it worth the full price? I’m really interested, but there seems to be no demo or options like Daganronpa.
it is worth it
How does the story and characters compare to Danganronpa the games?
Only thing holding me back from buying the CE is the performance. I can deal with the quality, I assume that would be better docked. My concern is the frame drops. Is it a big deal?
I played it on the OLED Switch so idk if that'll change anything, but I think I might have gotten like one frame drop throughout the entire game? It ran pretty smoothly.
@@kewol5901 switch oled is just better screen right, actual chip is the same? In that case I'm sold, thanks.
@@Elementking990 I'm pretty sure that's the case, So yeah, Just finished it myself, so hope you enjoy it as well~
Why does it have to be on the switch. I'll wait for the steam release
I'm sorry but I think that the devs said that it will only be on switch
I understand its not the genre, but if this game had combat id be all over it
Is this voiced by ai or something?
Omg danganronpa V4 is real
God I hope
I love the game except the Mystery Labyrinth. By far the most annoying and tedious part of the game.
Hopefully its just a timed exclusive on the switch, it would be so much better on newer hardware
Nope. Kodaka, the co-screenwriter, said this:
"While releasing the game on a variety of platforms was discussed, it was ultimately decided that doing so would force the game to compete with other A and AA titles, likely resulting in Rain Code getting buried and lost."
In short, the developers believe that the game (or rather its budget) is made for the Switch.
Only down side of this is it's only confirmed for the switch. I really hope that changes.
i wish this was release also in ps5
October 2024
This game has been completely overshadowed by Pikmin
if you have a bad taste in gaming maybe
oh...maybe
What I meant is that the release day is today and this is the first video I see talking about the game: IGN, GameSpot etc. didn't publish a review yet, and usually they do before the release date
@@pierrotcristian oh but that has many reasons :) the game in general is pretty niche and they also didn’t really do much marketing. It’s more of a *if you know how good these games are you know* kinda thing I would say haha
@@pierrotcristianWell, the two games do not target the same audience so it's normal that the most casual game AND developed by Nintendo is more highlighted.
Also, since you're talking about reviews, maybe the embargo says it's not allowed to talk about the game before the official release, hence the lack of reviews until today.
danganronpa 4?
sadly no :(
Framerate drops yikes…

Hater
Bruh. I'm not a fan of American dubs but refusing to listen to a review for this reason is stupid.
@@Gonzora consuming japanese games with dubs invalidate your opinion, sorry no sorry.
@@warcatbattalionFfs. It's a review, no one cares what language is used to illustrate a 10 minute video. Japanese audio is available on the game, it's already much better than when American dubbing was IMPOSED back in the day.
Now stop doing your elitist weeb when you probably can't even read Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana. With that, bye little troll.
@@warcatbattaliongrow up
Why do they even bother with these dubs
Well, it's not my case but there are people who don't like to hear Japanese and prefer to understand what is being said.
Does it have the original Japanese audio? The English subs sound terrible.
Yes it has Japanese audio. I like that it's got Takehito Koyasu.
I think the English dubs are good but ok
