This is one of many terrific live performances by Mamamoo. They're one of the few groups who can bring this curmudgeonly old fart to tears when they sing a ballad. I also love almost everything they've done as a full group, subunit or as soloists and they've released a ton of music in a wide variety of styles over their 10 year career. They seem to be able to pull off any musical genre with ease and conviction and they have one of the most diverse discographies I've ever encountered, ranging from r&b, jazz, hip hop, and latin pop to bossa nova, reggaeton, EDM, rock, blues and more. The singer you liked is MMM's leader Solar and she even sang a country song for a kdrama OST that sounded like it could have been recorded in Nashville.
This performance is from a 2019 competition tv show called Queendom in which 5 girl groups and a female soloist competed over multiple rounds with different challenges. In this "Fan-dora's Box" round they had to perform a song suggested by their fans. Mamamoo took the spirit of the fan round to heart by turning I Miss You into a love song to their fans. They included video clips going from their audition pieces to their trainee days to shout-outs to their fans (moomoos) when they became successful and Moonbyul re-wrote her rap verse as a heartfelt message to moomoos. MMM was the only competitor to take this approach to the challenge. Mamamoo was the winner of Queendom.

Mamamoo is definitely at the top with the best vocalists around the world and certainly they are considered top tier vocalists by the rest of the kpop industry. They are known specifically for doing near perfect vocals as you saw, live. I saw them myself here in los angeles last year and their vocals are better live then even the live video you just saw. Solar is my bias from this group and she is in fact my favorite singer alive today(Prince is my favorite). These ladies are also heavily involved in lyrics(Moonbyul(rapper) is the most credited female lyricist in korea) they also compose music(in fact you can see Solar do a version of her rock song But I, entirely on piano) and especially now since they are ages 28 to 33, involved in MV production, concert production and etc. They can sing this well because they practice a lot, to the point of things like practicing belts while doing lunges and other exercise so for example Solar can belt perfectly in a 4 hour concert all the way to the end with the choreo. They have over 400 videos to watch. Besides their mamamoo songs, Solar and Moonbyul have mamamoo+, all 4 have multiple solo albums. Hwasa in fact just released her latest only last week(moonbyul, wheein and Solar released theirs earlier in the year). They also have a lot of OSTs and yeah their idea of a song for a TV commercial are album quality) they also do a lot of awesome covers. Solar has one of the best Michael Jackson Man in the mirror covers on her youtube (solarsido) or you can find the original charity concert a few years ago where she was asked to sing with michael jacksons original backup singers and musicians for the song. The other 3 also have youtube, Moonbyul2da, whee in and Hwasa.
Well, hwasa just released a new album with the title track 'NA'... It's a banger as always.. I hope you guys react to that....
Thanks for reacting to mamamoo! IMO in the 3rd generation of kpop (which mamamoo are part of) they have 3 of the top 5 female vocals in that generation. Solar is who you guys really liked and she is amazing! Wheein (who is the third from the left) is my bias and if you’re looking for RNB she consistently makes rnb music. Her Red album is a no skip rnb album!
Btw moon is also a singer so she sounds amazing. Moon won second world
There are not enough superlatives to describe how good Mamamoo are, either as a group or as individual solo artists. They are the most credited kpop girl group and Moonbyul, the rapper, is the most credited female kpop lyricist.

This was a competition show between female artists…so I think some of the other girls were crying cause they realized during this performance that they were competing for second place.
