The title of the first song is Mr Ambiguous, or Mr Ememoho in Korean. It was written by the co-CEO of RBW (MMM's label) for Quincy Jones and it was originally called Mamamoo. The girls auditioned the song for Quincy when he was in Seoul for a concert while they were trainees and didn't have a name for their group yet. QJ decided not to use the song so it was given to the girls for their debut single after being partially rewritten and retitled Mr Ememoho and the group's name became Mamamoo. As you noticed, the new title sounds like Mamamoo. Each member has a successful solo career. The full group hasn't released an album since 2022 and after their world tour ended in the summer of 2023 they've been focusing on solo and subunit records and tours. Your bias Hwasa (on the right) just released a 7 song mini-album called O featuring the single Na (me or I in Korean). Mamamoo has done lots of ballads. Here are a few suggestions for group and solo ballads out of many possible recommendations. Paint Me and Where Are We Now are up there with I Miss You as MMM's main vocal masterpieces. They're always best when they're live so you should also listen to some of the ballads they covered on the singing competition tv show Immortal Songs 2 such as Backwoods. Hwasa's ballad LMM (Lost My Mind) was my personal pick for 2020 SOTY. Solar (2nd from left) is indeed a spectacular ballad singer and she's covered a lot of them over the years including Whitney's I Will Always Love You and Celine Dion's My Heart Will Go On, along with original songs like Hello and Image (5:52 AM). Two of Wheein's solo hits were ballads - Anymore and Goodbye. Wheein's solo stuff is heavily influenced by r&b and a good example is the beautiful b-side Butterfly, which features male r&b singer G Soul. Wheein's falsetto takes center stage in her cover of Code Kunst's song Flower. Main rapper Moonbyul is a good singer too and I think you might like her song Absence.
U need to check out the Immortal songs medley live!!! They sang famous old songs and u can really appreciate their range there. It’s more than safe to they crusheeeedddd it!!!
I came to kpop by way of blackpink, who I liked, and saw a couple other groups, but nothing really caught my interest until this killing voice. I was addicted for months, especially on I miss you and now I'm officially a Moomoo. Their music and solos are mixed in with my regular Playlist which are mostly rnb because their amazing. Still learning a lot about didn't groups but they're my absolute favorite with red velvet next. But if you like ballads, listen to davichi. I don't know if they qualify as kpop but they're amazing. Also they're all doing their solo careers, all of them, and I'm trying not to think that they might never come back together again. It's been 10 years and I just missed them and I'm honestly heartbroken. Solar, Hwasa, and Moonbyul released albums this year and Wheenie just finished a world tour. I saw her in Brooklyn and the show was dope.
Loved your reaction and so happy you enjoyed it! If you want more ballads to check out, they have a ballad title track called “where are we now”, they do stages and live performances of it too. Hwasa (the one in the tracksuits that you liked) has a few ballad solos (as do all the other members), my favorite of hers is “LMM”. Hope you enjoy more of mamamoo!! :)
@BnB Reactions there's an amazing documentary about everything Mamamoo that released last year; "Why mamamoo is most underated group in kpop" its worthy of being netflix special. So well done.
