Satellite TV - Switching From SKY-HD or SKY-Q
How to Change your LNB on a UK SKY Satellite Dish, For using Freesat UHD 4K or Downgrading to Older
We cover how to unclamp and disconnect your old LNB for replacement of a different type. Wideband or Universal for the last few years most SKY satellite Dishes have the same brackets and attachments
THIS IS FOR SKY DISHES INSTALLED IN THE LAST 10 YEARS OR SO - FOR STANDARD HOUSE INSTALLS IF YOU AHVE A SHARED SYSTEM IN A BLOCK OF FLATS THIS IS NOT THE VIDEO FOR YOU.
Switching from SKY-Q? - this will help switch from freesat - this will help need parts or things to help check out www.freesatspares.co.uk

I would have noted the skew on the old LNB before removing it. Then set the replacement LNB to the same Skew. You don't want to be climbing the ladder to set the skew when installed. Also it does make a difference if you are in the North of the England or Scotland.
Also if you are switching from Sky Q to the latest Freesat Boxs (Arris) you do not need to swop the LNB as they both use a Wideband LNB.
Thanks for this video and info. Will use it when the time comes. 🙂
Great video, extremely useful, definitely saved me time and money.
Really useful video. Thanks.
I go straight from the dish into the TV which only has 1 sat input, I assume this LNB would not be suitable ? Or would I need to ad a box to receive all channels ? (prefer to avoid this if poss)
@@Gmh6477 most TV satellite inputs use a universal type so if you had sky HD that's what you would use right away. If you had sky q you need to change the LNB to a universal type.
I need to use my existing sky L&B until December, then I will switch over to Freesat, can I change my LMB now for a universal and still get sky or do I need to wait until I change over to freesat? I don’t want to be on a ladder in December
if you are goingt o use a FREESAT ARRIS UHD box, no need to change anything. if youa re going to use an older box (humax or manhattan) maybe switch to a hybrid LNB, which can do both WB and UNI outputs
Thanks, it’s an old Humax HDR-1000S
The Sky installer used my existing dish which i was using for my Freesat box he swapped the Universal LNB for the Sky Q wideband LNB then he installed the original cables belonging to the Freesat box but now the signal test on my Freesat box says 'not receiving a signal' and 'only one cable inserted' even though the two original cables belonging to Freesat box are currently inserted. Should I contact Sky to resolve the issue?
what freesat box model do you have?

My wife hates her new Sky Q mini box, she says it's too complicated. Unfortunately the original cable feeds that connected her Sky + no longer receive a signal to the changeover from Universal LNB to a Hybrid LNB. I already have a Sky+ working off the Universal section of the Hybrid LNB going into the living room, there's two spare ports remaining on the Sky's supplied Hybrid LNB and was wondering if those remaining ports will work on the previously-used Sky + box which I want to relocate to the kitchen.
Sorry, i meant Humax1100.
@@n49martin OK, if you want to run SKYQ and a Freesat Humax box you will need a Hybrid LNB. we made a video on this th-cam.com/video/SyECp8O_OCI/w-d-xo.html
