I always love seeing the comments from others here in the US who want to take a holiday and/or eventually own a narrowboat or at least 'visit one' regularly :) I've seen Ohio, Florida, etc, and I'm in Kentucky/Indiana (right on the Ohio River in a port city) here. Maybe we should coordinate a "Narrowboat Experience Group Hire event" and just hire up a pile of boats from the same place for a week or 2, and let Kath and Anna be 'friendly local guides' and lead us down whichever canal that hire place is on in a crazy procession with "Through the Hedges" (and of course, we'd get chances to buy art to take home, and to have fun ensuring their being unable to spend a cent in any pub, heritage property, etc along the way!)
Yay, our trip together made the top three things woo hoo! I loved our few weeks together and all those locks! Sorry Kath for the beeps whilst crossing the locks (note not all of them made the cut!). Had a fab time and Molly and I would like to wish you a happy new year and here’s to 2020!! Xxx
Happy New Year! One of my 2019 highlights was discovering the world of narrowboating. I follow several youtubers, but you two were the first. Now my husband and I fantasize about leaving our suburban Ohio town one day and becoming narrowboaters. In the meantime, I will be content to experience canal life as an armchair adventurer. Thanks for the entertainment.
I would encourage you to rent a boat for a week or two. My wife and I did, a couple of times actually, and it was a wonderful holiday. No experience? No panic! They teach you all you really need to know before they let you go from the base and you really can't get into too much trouble can you. Can't do it these days, too old, but fond memories indeed - as you can tell because I'm watching this.
Wonderful pace of life to take in nature and your surroundings. Definitely agree buying the new boat was a new journey and so pleased it has worked out so well for you
A five week narrowboat trip was the main highlight of 2019 for me. I had been interested in narrowboats for quite a while, and then I started doing research on them. I found your channel, as well as Cruising the Cut. Both channels helped convince me this is something I should do. So then I started looking into hiring a narrowboat & it wasn’t long before I had found one. In early September I locked up the boat I live on in Seattle, flew to London & went on a narrowboat. I traveled 361 miles and went through 294 locks in five weeks. I loved it and I am already planning my next trip.
A very happy new year ladies. Thank you for all the wonderful vlogs. It’s a highlight of my week when they arrive in my inbox. Hugs to you all and Lily and Molly send kitten kisses to all🇨🇦❤️👍😎
Just beginning to recover from the seasons festivities, so a little late in responding, hope you have a wonderful 2020. More narrowboat experiences, more AM & Kath nonsense, more marvellous vlogs and interaction on all things canal. Keep warm, keep safe, be happy. xx
A highlight for me was your visit to Seven Valley Railway and the art work you produced. Watching you cruising I have experienced a little of my life had I managed to fulfil my dream of spending some of the year on the canal and the remainder in my adopted country of Australia. Thanks to yourselves, Jono and David plus a few others for your vlogs.
It has been a joy to see you and learn about your travels. I would love to visit the places you show, but sadly that will probably never happen. I’m retired and no longer have the money to make such journey. So you are my eyes! It’s good to see you are feeling well again.
Happy New Year to you all. Anna Marie, love the ears. Kath I really want to hand you a cocoa. You two are my first watch of the New Year. A real treat and a great start to the year. I'd call you're boat buying the number one. To do it once is explainable. To do it twice means you love it. For all of you, Anna Marie, Kath, Alice and Munchie only the best of wishes for the bright New Year. (and if you can bottle Anna Marie's bubbly you'd be world famous)
Love your channel. I'm starting from your first videos 3 years ago. It'll take some time to watch them all. You both are so down to earth with your video style, happiness, rants, good and not so good times. Thank you for bringing me along. Happy 2020 to you both...and Alice and Munchie!
Thank you for a wonderful year with you, the cats and your adventures. This year my wife and I got our first travel trailer (caravan) and began seeing the USA. We made many choices with the trailer based on yours, David’s and Jo and Michaels boats. A little of our journey brings you all with us. I am not often drawn to buy art but when something speaks to me I will. This year I purchased my favorite piece from Anna. The boat and train. Anna is a real talent and should be proud. My wife loves her bird pictures and I am going to try and get them for Valentines. I can’t wait to see your adventures in 2020. Cheers C
Happy new year to you two. We have enjoyed following your vlogs from over here in New Zealand. The highlight of 2019 for us was travelling to England to our son's wedding earlier this year in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. It was the first visit to the UK for us and when we were staying at Henley-on-Thames we watched the narrow boats on the river, we thought what a great way to cruise around the country. Similar to our caravaning trips here in NZ. So since we have been home we have followed several narrow boat vlogs, yours, Cruising the Cut, Journey with Jono, and others. So next time we are back over in the UK visiting our son and his new wife, hiring a narrow boat for a while will be at the top of the list of things to do. Thanks for inspiring us. Meanwhile we will continue to enjoy our warm summer holiday in our caravan by the beach.
I got events number 2 and 3 reversed but I got number 1 right. I would have to say the highlight of my 2019 would be watching as many of the narrowboat videos from you ladies, Minimal List, Cruising the Cut, Jono, London Boat Girl and many others as I could.. You ladies have made made my days so much more enjoyable with your vlogs and the through the hedge videos. I hope 2020 is very good to you and that it is very prosperous for you as well. 🎉 👍 Almost forgot... happy new year Alice and Munchy.
Our highlight for 2019 was buying a narrowboat last month after having to wait 20 years before it all fell into place. So now we are super excited to take her out :) you have both helped to keep our dream alive, watching your channel really kept us focused. :) I maybe one day I will see you both cruising along , I will give you a little wave of thank you:)
Our highlights! 1) camp quirky 2019 2) buying and starting the luton build! 3) sharing the year with many wonderful youtubers, of which we got to meet many in person! For 2020, we would love to catch up with yourselves 👍🛥🚐 Your getting closer now 👍😉
happy new year ladies hope its as good for you as this 1 ,my highlight is seeing 2 gorgeous faces brighten my day every time I see you 2s ,painting the boat was awesome much more patience than I ever could so keep it up girls n all the best for 2020
Our first favourite in 2019 was coming across you girls, Jono and the Foxes, next was the wonderful portrait of Melody and Kane, Ann Marie did for us and lastly we looked at our first 6 narrowboats Tuesday....... Didn't buy but it will happen at some point.
I'm glad that you collaborated with Cruising the Cut, because that's how I found you and I've be delighted. You are such a lovely couple and the cats are adorable. And your vlogs have been one of my happy times during this year which has been difficult for me. Thank you for that. Have an awesome 2020. And Earl Grey (my cat) says hi to Munchie and Alice.
Having Anna-Marie well again and Kath uninjured is the best way to start out 2020. Cats are Smart....Under the Duvet sounds like a wise choice for riding out the day! Happy New Year from the other Side of the Pond. Love & Warmth [especially for Alice n Munchie] Mike and Patty (and our Horde of cats).
Happy New year to you both. I think you are so right to go with the boat buying for your number 1 of 2019. I don't think that people realise what a hard thing it is to do, equally as hard as buying a house sometimes. Our personal high light of 2019 is finally getting the planning stage of our new boat finished and the deposit paid, it has taken us a whole year, so long that we missed our first build slot for 2020 and she won't now be started until September an will be ready in April 2021. We are so excited and I have to say that half the delays were caused by watching 'TH-camrs' like yourselves. Any way we will enjoy renting again this year and as our boat will be 65' we are doing some of the places this year that we will no be able to do with our own boat, Starting in June in Scotland. Wishing you both a happy and safe cruising year we will be with you all the way.
Thank you Annamarie and Kath for your wonderful photographic videoing of our gorgeous British countryside and your adventures, it has given me such appreciation of what this country has. Also for Over The Hedge, love them. My goodness seeing you both turn your hands to so many projects and all with a smile and lots of humour. You have been a wonderful bonus to my 2019. All the very best for 2020.
Happy New Year from South Australia. I agreed with your top 3 events. I especially liked your journey with Jono and Molly. I also liked watching Annamarie paint. I find doing watercolour difficult and you make it look so easy. Watching Kath work inside the boat and just your day to day routine inside was interesting for someone who will never see a real narrowboat. 'Through the Hedge' was always fascinating and watching Alice and Munchy is always a joy.
First, my warmest greetings for the New Year and thank you for being 'The Narrowboat Experience'. Second, your choices are spot on, because they are yours, but they are also slightly obvious, relevant and significant for TNBE. I was impressed at the results of painting 'Ewart' and that, coupled with the thoughtful determination to mechanically maintain and repair your boat/s, instead of just leaving it to boatyards dotted around the country, I remain impressed. What is interesting, from outside looking in, is the fact that TNBE is actually you two, not really the boat. I wondered if 'the move' would change things, but not at all. Still the same Kath and the same Annamarie, still the same high quality vlog with its own 'flavour' and even more inter relatedness with other vlogs. That seems inevitable, but actually the network is so large and your itineraries so diverse, it wouldn't happen by chance. Just one question; what happened about changing 'Lazy Days' name to 'Ewart II'? (Personally, I'm glad you haven't.) I have no idea how many narrowboat vlogs there are - certainly too many to watch them all, all the time - but I have 'gravitated', as it were, to just four regulars. Yourselves of course, David, Michael and Jo' and Shaun and Colin on Silver Fox. I can't watch every vlog, all the time even then. That's not to say I don't watch others, I do, but you four are my regular visits. Mostly what I feel is a kind of 'envy'. As Enthusiastic Hire Boaters, we can only 'snapshot' relatively small chunks of the network and most of the time it's 'out and back' so, actually even smaller chunks. (Our last trip was Napton - Stoke Bruerne - Napton via Blisworth and Braunston and when you look at it on Jo's "Beck Map", it looks totally insignificant.) You and the others take us to places we are unlikely to ever travel. I hope we will meet up sometime in the future, when we are on one of our fleeting visits to 'canalland'. Happy New Year once again; may there always be a nice mooring and locks set your way.
You're such lovely spirits and I adore your channel! Thank you, so much, for sharing your experiences with us! Best of luck to you both and your fur babies in 2020!
I remember passing your boat in Shugborough on my way to Great Haywood and saying ''Hi'' to you two and David talking on the walkway in July. You're the first boat tubers I've actually seen. Happy new Year.🍷✨
First video I watched this year!! The Blue Rope Fan Club has voted and you guys are the winner of the first ever. "Two ladies cruising on a narrowboat in England with 2 cats and having adventures " of the year award. Congratulations, can hardly wait to see what this year brings.
Thankyou so much for all the enjoyable vlogs over the year, it's been fabulous :). 2019 for me was the first time I had been on a narrowboat since the 70's and I was lucky enough to do it twice! I have a couple already booked for 2020 with my wife and it's going to be awesome. We live close to the Lancaster canal and often walk the towpath when the weather is good. Also, starting to make TH-cam videos about the canal has been wonderful and I have more plans for that in 2020. One day it would be lovely to own our own boat but as we have a 14yo house cat (Kai), it would be unfair to expect him to go between homes. We can hire and the joy of the Lanky is that there are no locks on the main canal. My wife (Linda) is partially disabled, so getting on and off the boat can be tricky. The Lanky makes it a joy for her and it is such a lovely canal. All the best to you both as well as Munchie and Alice for the roaring 20's :). Ian
One of my 2019 highlights was finding you two lovely ladies on TH-cam! You filled the year with joy, delight and adventure... and gorgeous Munchie and Alice are the icing on top. I agree 100% with your picks...I had the feeling these would be your choices. From a viewers perspective I’d have to vote for your collaboration with Jono as the most enjoyable videos you shared with us in 2019. May the New Year bring you many more happy adventures and good health to all four of you. Happy New Year! 💕❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖. 🎇🎆🌅
Happy New Year girls,it has been a pleasure following you both in 2019,lets see what you have in store for us in 2020,meanwhile Carry On Cruising and we will Carry On Following.x
A happy new year to you both ( and the cats ) and hope you have a happy, healthy and successful year with lots of adventures on our waterways. Regards from Redruth Arnold
A highlight of 2019 for me was finding your channel, cruising the waterways I grew up on & around, would love to see you do a few vlogs with the Foxes Afloat boys in 2020. Thank you for great vlogs and invoking some lovely memories for me - Oh and a special Happy New Year to Alice & Munchy from my 2 Pippin & Sam(uel L Catson)
Thanks you so much for letting me see England vicariously through you two. So different from the west coast of British Columbia but oh so beautiful. All the best for 2020.
Hi there and a really Happy New Year to you. I wish you all the very best for 2020 and look forward to each and every one of your upcoming vlogs. Here in Thailand we have just finished the Calendar New Year celebrations when the whole country has its first of 3 new year festivals. This one is the festive season main holiday when vast numbers of people go home or on holiday. In 3 weeks time we will have the Chinese New Year when Thai Chinese people celebrate their lunar calendar change along with many visitors from the PRC. And in mid April we have the Buddhist New Year when for 3 days the whole country parties again and during the day throw water at each other and passers by! No one escapes. It is a huge amount of fun but has a deep religious meaning as well. So the start of each year is one heck of a blast here.
Fantastic video , wonderful to hear your highlights. Mine is today when that cheeky smile and twinkle is back in Annamaries eyes having been poorly! Kath did her best but you are a team. I loved the vlogs with David and Jono too so warm and playful. Munchie and Alice are always stars. Cannot wait for the adventures of this year. Thank you for sharing ....Happy New Year and every happiness to you all ❤️
Happy New Year Anna, Kath, Alice and Munchy. I can’t pick a top 3 from you because they’ve all been great to watch all year. Really well done with your superb collaborations and sorting out your lovely new boat. Our 2019 highlight was a week on the Lancaster in June, which was brilliant - you’ll love it when you get there. We have a week planned from Ellesmere in March and a trip on the Trent and Mersey from Anderton in September which we are looking forward to. Best wishes for 2020 - can’t wait to follow all your new adventures.
I think my high like of 2019 is the 1979 re visits of kaths mum and dads trips think this it the best and the most warming of all that a child of a mother and father can do this, well done Kath love you for doing this.
My highlight for 2019 was a canal boat holiday on the Llangollen canal, inspired by both yourselves and David from Cruising the cut. It was the best holiday ever and my wife and myself will be doing it again this year and we cant wait ! Thanks for everything girls, we shall be watching through 2020. Happy healthy new year to you both
We love watching you gals!A highlight for me was all the clolabs or teaming up with others, like David or Minimal List ,or Juno it wad all great fun.It was great to learn about the canals in England!Looking forward to 2020.
🎉Happy New Year to you both, plus Munchy and Alice. My highlight was being able to talk with you two lovely ladies in Stourbridge when we moored up for the night there! Also I'm sporting one of your hoodies and a t-shirt courtesy of birthday and Christmas presents so support you all the way👍 Definitely looking forward to seeing your vlogs in 2020 - keep up the good work and the videos❤️
Happy New Year Ladies x My highlight is settling down to spend my time enjoying well-made narrowboat videos, and yes even your vlogs too lol, my dog Tinkerbell still goes nuts every time she spots your cats.
Happy new year ladies. Totally inspired by the Painted lady Christmas pantomime, theme. Totally captivated by the scrumptious pupa, Kath utterly gorgeous, Then the beautiful adult that in seconds lost her head, as they do! But was this planned, the toe path mallard, David, the lock demand. Cheers
My best 3 moments for me were Looking at and putting in an offer on a narrowboat at Crick Boat show. Picking up the boat and spending 10 days bringing it home. Moving on to the boat in August with my 2 cats Daisy and Rosie 🙂🙂
Highlight, getting notified about your latest adventure and having you add a bright spot to my day. Happy New Year, looking forward to more adventures with the four of you. Take care
One of my high lights was finding your channel, and a second was our Camping trip last summer we have a 17 foot caravan which enjoy. traveling around Vancouver Island.
Happy New Year to you both. 100% agree with your choices of best highlights for 2019. Love your volg,s as with all the other contributors. Volger,s barbeque 2020 when you all get together with everyone on the network is something to look forward to. Your lives on a narrow boat is an envious one. We used to do it and miss it.We hope to book narrow boat holiday in 2020 ( not cheap ). Keep safe and dry.
Hi Guys, Thanks for all the hard work running your channel and keeping us entertained! We love the content and appreciate the effort you guys put in, sharing your experiences throughout the year. I was interested in the running costs of a narrowboat, but after watching your episode on the cost of heating, it was quite a surprise. The temptation to plaster every square inch to the roof with solar cells and windmills at either end to try and keep the batteries charged without the engine would be high on my list. If I was brave enough to take the plunge like you guys have that is. Anyways, all the best for 2020 to both of you, and keep up the very good work.
Nice job on the paint work girls .If need be there are lots of boats to practice on before you do yours .Happy New year .give the cats a hug from me xx
Happy New Year, Ladies 🎉🍀🐖🍀 the best of luck, health and love for you. I really enjoy watching your vlogs. Can‘t wait to see, where your journey is going to take you next. Keep on the lovely work and the enjoyable vlogs. My personal favorites are the „through the hedge“ series :)
At 3:07, the Shirley Drawbridge - my wife and I went through there on our Avon Loop trip in 2018. We decided to stop for lunch at the pub there, so my wife raised the bridge, I pulled through (the opposite direction from your travel), and tied up just past the narrow bit. When she lowered the bridge, she didn't wait quite long enough and didn't notice that the gate of the bridge didn't go back up - I only noticed after I tied up the boat... There were a few frustrated drivers waiting when I ran back up and opened the gates! I'm glad that you're both well, and had a great year!
Wake up @ 0245hrs to let the dog out and now I have a treat to watch before I return to slumber. Your 3 choices were solid, I'm sure we all agree with 1 & 2. Happy New Year and may your new year be healthy.
My highlight of 2019 was coming to England in May. What a wonderful time we enjoyed. I really hope to return in the future. We visited Foxton Locks while in Market Harborough and saw several narrowboats as they came through the locks. Such a great experience. I look forward to many videos of your travels in the coming year. Happy New Year!🎊
Cruising over the very tall viaduct and the amazing views you had from the top. You are also great at not letting problems stop you enjoying what you do. Have a great New Year’s Day.🙂😺😺
Happy new year girl’s great video again , love watching all year some great stuff , looking forward to getting our boat which is being fitted out now and should be ready in March . Never been cruising before so excited ,xx
It’s always a highlight for me when I’m around you four! All the best for 2020 and beyond.
So kind- same!
Thanks for all the inspiration, and all the excellent videos and advise over the last year. Happy new year !
I always find it easier to count the legs and divide by three. Happy New Year to you all.
The wife and I had a fantastic week in a log cabin near Boston (uk) with our little Pomeranian dog

Thanks for sharing so much, I’ll be looking for at the next Crick Boat Show, selfies, selfies... 2019 is gone, long live 2020

I agree the Severn valley railway was such a highlight.
For me, the highlight is the anxiety of the cats seemingly toying with the idea of leaving home - but then always returning. Thank goodness!!
It has been a joy to see you and learn about your travels. I would love to visit the places you show, but sadly that will probably never happen. I’m retired and no longer have the money to make such journey. So you are my eyes!

I think because the collaborations were so extensive they had to rate higher, but in actual fact the top three are pretty even.
Happy New Year from Indiana. I hope you have the best of years. Happy traveling. My husband and I love watching your videos.
Hppy new year to Munchy , Alice and their servants.

Thank you!! Your camera work is superior. You bring in the views of the countryside. Who wants to look at the canal during the whole vlog?
Kind of you to say x
Happy New Year from Upper Montclair New Jersey! And to Alice and Munchie....meow!
Happy new year ladies, looking forward to hearing about your adventures next year
Happy New year and looking forward to more adventures and experiences from you lovely gal's! XXXX 💕
(Personally, I'm glad you haven't.)
I have no idea how many narrowboat vlogs there are - certainly too many to watch them all, all the time - but I have 'gravitated', as it were, to just four regulars.
Happy New Year. May 2020 be filled with happiness and I look forward to watching your amazing videos. 🍾
You're such lovely spirits and I adore your channel! Thank you, so much, for sharing your experiences with us! Best of luck to you both and your fur babies in 2020!
Liked through the hedge to the steam train and crossing long aqueduct, but really like everything!👍✌️😊🙏🏼 Happy New Year🥂
I remember passing your boat in Shugborough on my way to Great Haywood and saying ''Hi'' to you two and David talking on the walkway in July. You're the first boat tubers I've actually seen. Happy new Year.🍷✨
Happy New Year to the two sweetest people on TH-cam 🎊🍾🎉🎆🌹
First video I watched this year!! The Blue Rope Fan Club has voted and you guys are the winner of the first ever. "Two ladies cruising on a narrowboat in England with 2 cats and having adventures " of the year award. Congratulations, can hardly wait to see what this year brings.
Finally we are winners.
Been loving your adventures, for a Tasmanian who will never get to the UK, I can live vicariously through the both of you.
Happy New year you two I have loved your vlogs all year I agree with your top 3. We are planning a narrow boat holiday this year. Can't wait.
Ian
Thank you for sharing your time with us. X
💕❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💖. 🎇🎆🌅

Thank you for sharing ....Happy New Year and every happiness to you all ❤️
My favorite moment was just being to live vicariously through the two of you. Happy New Year
Love U Both, Love the kitties and thanks for the ride !
I live in the Pacific Northwest of the USA (-8 gmt) so got to watch this at the first of the New Year. Much fun to you all in the coming year.
Happy New Year to my two favourite ladies.

Cheers
My best 3 moments for me were
Looking at and putting in an offer on a narrowboat at Crick Boat show.
Picking up the boat and spending 10 days bringing it home.
Moving on to the boat in August with my 2 cats Daisy and Rosie 🙂🙂
I'm with the Munchykin:

Your lives on a narrow boat is an envious one.
We used to do it and miss it.We hope to book narrow boat holiday in 2020 ( not cheap ).
Keep safe and dry.
Wishing you both and the cats the very best year to come with more cruises to come with happiness and love.
Congrats to you both from the Oregon Coast! Best of luck with 2020! Stay warm, stay happy!
Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the hard work running your channel and keeping us entertained!
So glad to see you both well and happy again. All the best For the new year.
Nice job on the paint work girls .If need be there are lots of boats to practice on before you do yours .Happy New year .give the cats a hug from me xx
You ladies are the best. Happy new year to you both and I hope 2020 is as bright as your smiles
I wish you a very healthy 2020. Keep on posting your delicious vlogs!
I'm glad that you're both well, and had a great year!
oh wow, did they beep at you?
@@TheNarrowboatExperience There was no beeping, but I'm sure that they weren't happy... There wasn't much traffic though.
Wake up @ 0245hrs to let the dog out and now I have a treat to watch before I return to slumber. Your 3 choices were solid, I'm sure we all agree with 1 & 2. Happy New Year and may your new year be healthy.
Lucky dogs. Lucky us.
Have a great New Year’s Day.🙂😺😺
Joy and optimism - i'd drink to that!!!!!! Happy New year, may 2020 it be even better than your best year.
Happy new year girl’s great video again , love watching all year some great stuff , looking forward to getting our boat which is being fitted out now and should be ready in March . Never been cruising before so excited ,xx
