It's bittersweet!
When we stopped filming to take care of personal matters we never envisioned 'stopping' for good.
But things change don't they?
We wanted to make this short talk to you, just to say goodbye, and thank you.

This one will just get lost in the noise but I wanted to say I spent the very long lockdowns alone. I had an entire year when my particular circumstances made it illegal or medically inadvisable to visit friends and family.
Although they wouldn't know me from Adam, a small number of TH-camrs and podcasters helped me through that period.
You two were among their number.

I began narrowboat videos in autumn of 2020 because I saw Zomboat! (lol), and desperately looked it up to see wtf that boat was. And got hooked on the genre. This channel was on the short list of religious lockdown watching.
Sadly when they abruptly stopped and I began grieving for someone that winter, I abruptly stopped watching the genre too.
Glad for the closure. NBE is permanently part of mine, yours, and so many people's lockdown memories. Forever grateful. ❤
Oh yes, so much this! ^^^^ I stumbled across this genre of videos almost at the beginning of the Pandemic WTF Times, and one led to another which led to another yet. Even from off in the wilds of the western colonies, I took great comfort in the peaceful, friendly, occasionally confused, but always intrepid antics & adventures of The Ladies and their fellow adventurers. I hope they reap the peace and comfort they have so generously sown.
One by one, my favorite narrowboat channels are leaving and I'm sad to see you go, but I fully understand that five years (has it really been that long!) is a good spell to be living on a narrowboat and producing these brilliant vlogs. You two have made this old man very happy and on behalf of all of us out here - God speed and have a happy life.

As I sit here having just watched you "hoofin it" to the next lock while Kath is driving the boat I think to myself while crying like a small child how many times have I watched this same scenario with you guys and how much will I miss this same scene? It's astonishing to me how much you guys have impacted me. I have had such huge health problems in the last 10 years and because of these issues I have not been able to do anything except sit in my basement and try to find new things to watch to keep myself occupied. As I have looked through TH-cam I ran into this thing called The Narrowboat Experience. I watched these two amazing women and their cats take on the world of Narrowboating and I was fascinated as I watched poor Kath dig out the stuff wrapped around a prop and you drying off a cat that had taken a spill into the drink one night and all the other adventures you found yourselves experiencing and you took us all along for the ride. Thank you for taking a guy from Utah USA to places I will never be able to travel to and making it so interesting. You are such amazing people and it has been a pleasure and an honor to be able to share your lives with you. I love you both to bits and I want you to know how much it has meant to me to be able to know you and your cats just a little. It has been such a fun journey and I appreciate you both more than I will ever to be able to say. Thank you both so much and I hope you both continue to enjoy your lives you have been incredible.

I'm crying right now. I don't know what has been going on with you at all since that last water point vlog, other than you decided to focus more on your art tutoring. I just know you were the first TH-cam narrowboat channel I came across way back at the beginning and you got this middle-aged American woman excited about something I was never even aware of. I really enjoyed following you two and Alice and Munchy on your adventures. I wish you all the best in the world. May peace and love surround you always.

Kath and Annamarie. Since I didnt find your blog until February of this year This was my first notification ever on youtube. Unfortunately it is your last. Thank you for the many vlogs you made. I started watching them backwards and was blown away on the content,scenery , music and info you showed. Being a conservative male from the midwest of the US the thing that stood out the most was your loving and caring hearts. Not only for each other but to almost every stranger you came upon (fishermen excluded lol) After seeing the bond between you two it has made me rethink the way I view non traditional marriage. Thank you for that. It was not the narrowboat lifestyle that drew me to you it was your humor and honesty. Good luck in the future. 2022 seems to be the year we are losing a lot of boaters for whatever reasons and I know you two and the cats will be missed out on the water but like you said life changes and you need to put yourselves first. So glad I was able to meet and interview you on the old boat. I'm sure some day the draw of the water will be too much but until then enjoy whatever the future has in store and take care xx
I still remember watching your first video that I saw maybe a week after you put it up. I followed along and enjoyed just about everything you put out, and now I am sad to see it end but as you said, the next adventure is upon you. I will miss you all best of luck to you Anna Marie, Kath, Alice, and Munchy, and all the people you had as visitors. You will be missed.
I hope you are both doing well. I still watch your old videos regularly. I do enjoy them. Thank you for sharing your travels on Lazy Days with us. I use your coffee cup every day and often think about you both. I have my pin badges too, and just wanted to say you made a difference for me and many of us who watched you. In fact, I know you did. I hope you know that and keep that in your hearts now. Your watercolors are beautiful, Anna, and to Kath I would like to say how much I admire your steady and gentle demeanor. In all situations on the canals, you are so competent, and I admired that about you. I hope all your dreams come true, and that a narrowboat in the future won't be left out of your lives. Lives change, I know, but memories don't. I just wanted to write and say I miss seeing you both on TH-cam.
This channel helped me through a really tough and lonely time in my life a couple of years ago. It's sad that it's over but glad Annamarie is giving us some closure.
Thank you for saying good-bye. I remember when Kath first moved from behind the camera to sort-of in-shot to Kathsplaining, being completely taken in by your message-in-a-bottle episode, admiring your gorgeous photography of the Peak Forest Canal and the Llangollen aqueduct. We looked forward to each of your weekly episodes for years, my wife and I, and loved your joyfulness and openness. All the very best in your new adventures!

Sad days all around.
Not sad because we have all been carried along as part of their journey. There's a slogan from year's gone by, "Getting there is half the fun". Another I have read sums this up nicely,
"The Journey is the Reward."
We have been on a journey but here we have to split away from them because we just cannot be part of their journey any more. We must express gratitude for all we have seen and all we have experienced. What a ride!

Crazy how I’m just seeing this. I watched your channel 2 years ago and I just came looking for it again. I’m from America and it interested me to see your canals and the narrowboats, before finding your channel I had never seen this type of boat or way of traversal. I enjoyed learning about the life and the way the locks operate using water. I haven’t watched for a couple of years but I just remembered you guys a little bit ago and came looking again. It’s sad to see you go

So many travel vloggers are settling back into stationary housing. Covid has made travel so difficult. I'll miss your adventures. But you have a wonderful life. Give the cats lots of pets and treats.
Another one to go but I REALLY appreciate getting the closure. A few vloggers I follow have just dropped off, not realizing how unsettling that is to their followers. I did wonder what happened to you and feel better you having brought it to an actual end.

I can't tell you how pleased I am to hear from you both again. I was worried that something had happened between you, causing you to stop posting. I don't know your current situation, but the important thing to my mind is that you still have each other. Anna-Marie, I have heard your message before, from friends and family members in the later stages of advanced cancers. Hoping that your revelation is not driven from the same source - this world would be a duller, dimmer place without you in it. Love you both, and best wishes.

I enjoyed following your Narrowboat Experience for the uniqueness of canal living but more so for the two of you… your sweet personalities, caring relationship and realness. I will miss you. And, in all things, I wish you joy and peace.
You were both such good characters and left a legacy of brilliant videos. You will always have these to look back on. I think you encouraged a lot of people to travel through Birmingham. And Kath’s fireplace was inspirational to Jo of Holly the Cafe Boat. Always positive, uniquely funny humour and really capturing the wonder of travelling on the canals throughout the year. You are so right about doing what you need to do. It’s easy to waste years in the wrong activity, like most people.

sorry you are ending this but it happens, life changes. been a good ride, and now you are on another journey. I once had a sailboat and there came a time when life and what was going on meant I couldn't use it the way I would want. someone else bought it and has had great times w it,so it wasn't in vain:). hopefully your next phase brings comforts and joys!

So thankful in one way to see this message because I had feared that something quite terrible had happened either to the pair of you or between you with the channel going 'silent'. So to see this, even if it is a 'goodbye', at least quelled those darker thoughts.
Unfortunately I've only just discovered your channel and got into narrow boats as a mate bought one to live on and I delivered it for him, but good luck to you both! I wanted to endorse what you said about if you have an idea, or a dream DO IT! At 25 years of age after a few years and good career in London we sold up (I was married at the time) and bought a boat, with crazy plans to sail around the World (I'd never set foot on a sailing boat!) OK, I don't live on a boat now, but I had a good 30 or 40 years of adventures. Sailed 70,000 miles, including transatlantic in a 30 foot boat, I instructed, skippered, wrote for a magazine free lance for 9 years and lots more. Caribbean, Mediterranean, UK, and Scandinavia once, and although it wasn't always easy at times I wouldn't swap it for commuting into London and a boring office career. The last 20 years I switched to flying, but that's another story still going on at 75! Have fun whatever you do.

It’s hard but also very fulfilling to make and experience new beginnings. Life is short especially for us 60 year olds. Will miss seeing you both and your lovely kitties on this medium, well after I finish catching up on your older videos (I started watching you during the beginning of the pandemic and at one point went back to the beginning and started forward from there so I have a little bit of that catch up left). I've loved every minute and will miss you both, and Munchie and Alice too, but I understand. Life changes and sometimes takes us to unexpected places. You have to follow your heart and do you. I follow Art By Annamarie and although I am not very active there, I do enjoy the posts. I keep telling myself that I must make the time to participate in the classes and exercises more.
