I collect recipes digitally, but when I make a recipe, I print it out and write notes in the margins. The notes are about different techniques and my review about how my family liked the recipe and how I would change it. I keep these in a note book that has a clear pocket on the outside of the front and back cover (The front cover pocket I slipped in a graphic and in the back outside clear pocket, I slip the recipe that I'm making so the binder can stay closed and the recipe stays clean while I cook.) When the notebook gets full, I purge all the ones my family wasn't crazy about or that was difficult or had too many ingredients. This way when my daughters get married, I'll have an annotated recipe book of their favorites all ready to copy and give to them at their wedding shower without much effort because I've complied the recipe book over the years and not at the last minute! 💖🌞🌵😷
I recently started a weekly meal planning system. I posted a list of favorite meals. There are 3 of us, so everyone picks 2 meals. Then we add in our weekly Breakfast for Dinner. I don’t assign a night, but I get all I need in my weekly shopping. Then the week is flexible. If hubby wants to cook his meal on Tuesday instead of his planned Thursday, no problem. Great video as usual!
I’m working on meal planning but here is what my mom does (she lives with me and is the cook 😉). She numbers her recipes and then has them listed. We plan for two weeks at a time…she writes out the meals by day on a piece of paper and places it on the freezer. The grocery list is made based on the meals selected. Then at dinner time, the recipe is usually on the table to review, especially if it’s new. I’m wanting to incorporate more variety (ie ethnic meals, weight watcher friendly, chicken nights, casserole, etc and also favorites, taking turns to cook, etc). We’ve also done hello fresh and those are incorporated into the weekly meals. I am looking forward new meal services.
