    I love all of your videos, but I think your food preps are my favorite. You're one of only a few TH-camrs that I've found that use whole food and gluten free ingredients. I can't just open cans and seasoning packets and throw them in a crockpot anymore, so I find your cooking much more relatable. Thank you for sharing =)

    CARPEL TUNNEL WARNING ! I am old and wise now and full of experiences: like carpel tunnel syndrome. Per the hand surgeon's instruction, I no longer use the butt of my hand, as you are doing here, to crush my garlic under the knife blade. I ball up my fist and smash the knife with the fat outside edge of my hand. Smashing the butt of your hand smashes the carpel tunnel nerve hard, and doing that will cause damage to the nerve in the long term. Just a loving tip! Be mindful, be happy! Wonderful video and wonderful tips. You've taught me a whole new way of cooking and prepping! Thank you so much!

    This is my dream refrigerator lol. I just moved to Florida and will be working at a high end restaurant at Disney Springs. Bc of the menu's high price point, I'm definitely bringing my own food and I plan on making this salad a staple. The ingredients appear very affordable, it's easy to prepare, probably travels very well and I can mix up the ingredients by tweaking the recipe periodically. Thank you for a very yummy and inspiring video!!

    I'm glad you know how to make a stainless steel pan non stick by properly preparing and heating first. I don't even own a non stick pan. No need for one. Even fried eggs slide around nicely when pan is prepared correctly. Also, great idea for preparing a salad ahead of time for a few days meals. Apple cider vinegar cleans fruits and veggies extremely well!! You can actually see a film of the gunk from the fruits and veggies appear at the surface of the water once the foods have been sitting in that for awhile. Then just wipe them down with water and fry them!

      That's odd because I found the food waste excruciating! I use a proper strawberry huller rather than waste fruit by chopping the tops off them (which doesn't remove all the inner core anyway!). I would also waste way less of the onions when chopping. #Frugality 🙂

    Have you ever thought of getting a large bone cutting/butcher knife? They have a large rectangular blade and they are great at cutting hard stuff like bones, sweet potatoes, and large meats. I bet it would help you on those sweet potatoes. I always pray you don’t hurt your hand pressing down on the knife or having it slip and cut a finger. I got one really cheap on Temu for around $7-$16 free shipping and it was a great quality. I use it to chop up bone in chicken for soups or casseroles. Really like your videos, so I finally subscribed. 😊☺️

    New subscriber here! Love how you prep REAL food ingredients for later use. How do you keep your stainless steel pots looking so good? I have always used nonstick pots/pans but I want to switch to a more healthy option. Stainless steel is winning on my research but the maintenance and the "how" to cook with them intimidate me a little.

    • @27foxplace
      @27foxplace  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Good stainless steel should last forever, and its low maintenance. If you need to, deglaze the pan with a little water when you’re done cooking and put the lid on to let it cool down. Barkeepers Friend is my last resort, but it works well on stubborn grease. When sauté, the trick is getting the pan hot enough. Water should “dance” in the pan before you add oil.

    Just stumbled upon your video and enjoyed watching something l can relate to. I just wanted to ask though why you are not cooking the garlic at the same time as you are roasting the squash?
    A slight adjustment to your shelving could maximise your time and energy considerably.

    How come you don’t freeze the garlic out of the skin? If you slightly mash into a single layer, it makes it easier to score out a chunk for cooking or soups. :)

      Hi Kathy! We basically cut out processed foods. It turns out, I'm sensitive to most grains and dairy. Skin problems, joint pain, etc... My husbands blood pressure was too high. We still eat a lot of carbs, just not refined carbs like breads and pasta. 😩

    I am switching to glass meal prep containers also. Love them! but they are pricey so I am building up my collection (have 6 for breakfasts ). I like this ingredient prepping instead of making 5 or 6 meals for the week. Breakfast and lunch is OK to do that but dinner, by the third fourth and fifth one it’s terrible and I’m tired of it. So that meal prepping didn’t work out for me I like this ingredient prepping better. 😁. Thanks for sharing.

    Are those mason jars for frozen soup? I have cracked many both in the freezer and also thawing. I found better result to allow couple inches head space and place frozen jar in frig to begin thaw. I live in high dessert so perhaps that is a player.

    • @27foxplace
      @27foxplace  ปีที่แล้ว

      I leave a few inches of space (or more) before I freeze mason jars. I haven't had a problem defrosting. That could be altitude. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Great video! The only thing to note: the glass can break even if you don't put the lid on, it has nothing to do with how much you put in the container, it's just how quickly the liquid freezes and how good glass is. Also, putting lid in this case makes it even worse cause the air gap you created has nowhere to go in case the liquid expands -> more likely to break the glass
