    I updated the full guide to include the newer version of the kit (using the newer Raspberry Pi 3B+): howchoo.com/g/zdg4zmy4yze/how-to-choose-a-raspberry-pi-starter-kit -- the video is still accurate though :)

    8:26 not necessarily, some kits come with SD cards pre-installed with software like noobs. However, if you want your own custom boot loader I guess it is useful to have one.

      The Raspberry Pi 3 B+ is the only one that runs RetroPie currently-but when it comes out for the Pi 4 (the latest Raspberry Pi), I'd recommend using that model.

      Hey Andy!
      Thanks for the suggestion -- I have a huge backlog of videos I want to make, but this one probably isn't a high priority. I'll try to get a normal non-video Howchoo guide posted on our site soon.

    I look for Class 10 SD cards

  • @drummer4hire12
    @drummer4hire12 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I simply DESPISE that exact card reader. I had 2 that were my first ones when I started in Pi-land. It took over 7.5 hours to flash 400g's. Either I got 2 bad ones, or that is how they work. However, I purchased a USB3.0 reader.......same file flashed in 1.5 hours.

      My mom wanted to get me a programming kit for $130, so I looked into it and found out I could get 5 times the amount of stuff for $85, and with a pi 4 instead of a 3. So it's ok, there is no way of actually knowing what to research unless you know a little bit before hand.

    You don’t need to buy SD adapter, its already built in pi 3

    • @Howchoo
      @Howchoo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’ll need one to put the SD card in your computer - either a USB adapter or, if your computer has a full-size SD card slot, a micro to full SD adapter. I’ve never seen a computer with a built-in *MINI* SD card slot.
