Thanks for doing this tutorial, I have always wanted to have a go at computer programming and projects but never had the guts to do so as I am 61 years old and dyslexic , I have problems spelling IT never mind doing it, but now feel it is time to have a go, so Raspberry Pi added to Christmas wish list.

    FYI
Picked up a CanaKit Raspberry Pi 4 (4GB). And it included Samsung EVO+ 64GB MicroSD w/NOOBS.
Not sure if you got a old kit or not. Thanks for sharing your ideas
Last point. Tell people to put that Pi in its case before plugging everything in.
I can’t tell you how many people I know that have blown up there Pi by shorting it out by having A piece of metal touching the backplate.
You have a great channel, keep up the good work!

Dude (and I mean that with great respect) you are the man. I started out back in the 70's with the TRS80 then the TI 99/4a from the I went to the Ohio Scientific unit with the 3 processors (6505 / 6800 / Z80) with a Winchester 74meg hard drive that was bigger than a dell rack mount blade server. I remember the lights dimming when I power it on. Then of course the IBM PC (win95) up to now the Win 10. I've learned programing in all those CPU so when I bought the first Rasp for so reason I was lost nothing seem to work right from download to installing. 67 years old and this You Tube was a great answer to understanding the process. Thank you so much. I'm big into Hydroponics and now I think I can use the Rasp to help with my system. Ordering the Canakit and the Ultimate Starter Kit.

I was pretty confused about many things in raspberry Pi before watching this video and it has cleared most of my doubts.

The "servo" you was turning is a potentiometer, a variable resistor. A servo is a device that normally physically controls something and provides feedback. An example would be computer remotely opening/closing a valve in a factory by signalling a servo called a MOV (Motor Operated Valve). The MOV would provide feedback to inform the computer how much the valve is opened. Did enjoy your video; was looking or a video to recommend to a teen interested in the Pi.

    Thanks.
Just saw Getting Started With The Raspberry Pi 4 - Use It As A Linux PC by ETA PRIME and that intrigued me so I came here.
Had heard nothing of these since the first one yers ago.
I am not a tech' savvy user, but I enjoyed your video, and I think it's very cool that people can learn all about this stuff at a relatively very low cost by getting one of these.
As someone who uses his computer just to use the 'net and make activities for the classroom with regular office software, one of these would be perfectly enough for me if my current computer died again and could not be brought back to life.
The fact that we can now get a computer to plug into our monitor, keyboard and mouse and get set up for so little money and at so low a cost astounds me.

I appreciate the tutorial, everything I found online was images of Raspberry Pi boards, and I had no idea how it would look like once I finish setting up and once I placed it near my router.
I often felt like "Yes, I get that, the pi is the board itself, but that's not how it would look like after I set it up. Just show me the damn thing once it's set up, because if it's too big or something then there's no point in getting the pi :)"

For those of you coming coming to this in the present day, I am just starting as of 2023... Noobs seems to be replaced.
"What Happened to NOOBS? First launched in 2013, NOOBS (New Out Of Box Software) was designed to make installing an operating system on a Raspberry Pi easy. But in 2020, Raspberry Pi Imager was released. This features most of the same functionality as NOOBS, while adding support for larger SD cards."
So basically Raspberry Pi Imager is equivalent to Noobs, as the link on his blog post doesn't bring you to download Noobs anymore, just the many options of OS downloading for the Pi.

I have been using them for various things since the early days but I have no coding skills as such. Would love to see some examples of how you use these to do monitoring or maybe even replacement of cloudkeys etc. Closest I have come to using these for network monitoring was to have one of this display a web page on a monitor from a remote network monitor or weather map. These do make it very easy to have 16 monitors on the wall watching a large corporate network.

You mention you use Raspberry PI s as network monitors. Any packages that you have had success with? I was hoping to implement something like that on my own network.

Do salespeople know that developers got "round up" function built-in in their retina?

This was an awesome video. Have been looking at Pis for a while but was terrified having no Linux knowledge. Thank you for a great intro.

I started this week with a Raspberry PI 3B.
I chose this version because a PI 4 here in the Netherlands is very difficult to get new and second-hand, very ridiculous prices are asked (more than double what it normally costs)
The PI 3 version is a bit affordable second-hand
I made an emulation station from the Raspberry, its super funny!
