I lived in an old temporary flat once when I was a kid and the hallways looked so scary no matter at night or in daytime… there are some old footages of the Kowloon Walled City you can search for if you’re interested.
I love these kind of horror games where the lighting isn't dark enough to not see anything and not too bright to ruin the horror atmosphere. Just the perfect amount

The game isn't based off on the Kowloon district as a whole, but rather a specific area that once existed in Kowloon known as the Kowloon Walled City. There's another horror game that was developed based on the same premise called Hong Kong Paranormal, I think? Really good stuff.

For me @ 2:30 the head bobbing in games is cool. It's the initial high sensitivity of camera panning that certain gamers have adjusted to their settings that makes me dizzy.
i like the little detail at 32:19 where the railings shake as you walk up the stairs and then later you hear them shake again as if someone else is walking up the stairs, and then you come to find the creature at the stairs.
the small things you do and say in this video made me like you even more. "why are we smoking cigaretts, you guys gotta love yourselfs." i just felt like you made me think and made my day better by just those few words.

I'd rather sleep outside than sleep in there wtf. I've been homeless before, slept outside, in abandoned crack houses, taken shelter Inside public toilets for the night to escape the snow and freezing winds. But this place takes the cake, man. Not only does it look scary AF, it's also filthy, moldy, looks *moist*, smelly, trash everywhere, seems more unsafe than the crack houses I snuck into to sleep. Fuck.

Great Video as always! It's just kinda odd when the devs named their game after a location from HK but all the elements from the game (eng letters/puzzle using eng/tall and scary monster) that doesn't really fit into HongKong's culture. When it comes to developing games based on a real location, i think ParanormalHK did a better job. You'd expect there to be references to Kowloon and the history behind it and whatnot, but other than the fact that the game showed really tight spaces (similar to real life), i dont see much of a correlation. Still very much enjoyed watching your reaction to the game :D

I totally agree that indies are way more scary than the aaa titles! I also think the storytelling, both through the environment and characters, is more cohesive and immersive. Sometimes. And I’ve noticed it doesn’t matter if it’s got great graphics like this, or is in an 8bit style. Great work! Keep it up!
