It’s definitely accurate, I deal with this but I’m very spiritual so it doesn’t happen a lot but rarely does. But when it does it’s weird like your dreaming but not idk like I said very weird your stuck laying down can move your legs or arms only thing you can move is your head to look around but that’s literally it.

The last time I had sleep paralysis I woke up and realized I couldn’t move and for some reason I felt like I was being watched. I made my best effort to look around the room , and behind my tv I saw something. Scared to death I tried to call out, but couldn’t. Suddenly my cat came strolling into the room and then stopped mid stride. He looked towards the tv and hissed( it was the first time I heard him hiss) and he ran around the room , up the bed , and across my body , digging his nails into my chest , springing me from my paralyzed state. I immediately turned on the light and looked around the room. I’m a pretty tough dude, but this experience shook me. Some of the worst experiences are when I’m on sleeping on my stomach and i feel something in the room but I refuse to open my eyes. Like as long as I don’t look at it, and just allow it to make a meal of my fear, it won’t kill me…,

I think that reading about the science behind it helped me a lot. I made a comment about my experience with it but your comment made me think - i feel like we usually hear about sleep paralysis as a horror/folklore thing - I don't think I looked at the science until into my late 20s at least but have had it since i was a kid.

This is very accurate. I just had sleep paralysis a couple of days ago. You can't move your body, and you can't speak. The only thing you can do is move your eyes. It had been a while since I last suffered from sleep paralysis, so when it happened a couple of days ago, I panicked. I screamed at the top of my lungs, hoping that my parents would hear me, but nothing happened. I just remembered from previous episodes of sleep paralysis that the way to escape from it is to relax your body and try to slowly move your fingers, both hands, and feet. Eventually, you will be able to move your body and wake up.

I've had sleep paralysis multiple times myself and the sleep paralysis in the game is mostly accurate but there are 2 main things I'd critique
    1. The lights weren't completely off throughout sleep paralysis, one of the scariest parts about it is that you don't know what's lurking around because of the darkness and your complete vulnerability
    2. The freedom of being able to move your camera so much considering you shouldn't be able to move your head but only your eyes or sometimes not even be able to move your eyes, one of the scariest parts about that is how you'd see stuff in your peripheral vision which is a lot more terrifying
And one honorable mention which can't possibly be added into a game obviously is what you feel, like tingling feelings on your feet or parts of your body, a feeling of not being able to breathe every time you try to make a noise but absolutely nothing comes out, and being able to physically feel pain in your dream which is very much possible

  • @andyguzman6125

I used to have sleep paralysis as a teen. My fear of aliens, witching hour at 3AM, and home invasions contributed to my terrible episodes. At first, when i experienced my sleep paralysis, i heard noises, nothing major. It was different but not scary. Then on another night, i slept on my stomach and had another one. This episode scared me till this day. I felt something slowly caressing my leg. I felt some long appendages. After the leg touches were done, i heard some noises as like from the alien making noises from Signs. I was terrified. I closed my eyes and forced myself to think about anything. I repeatedly thought of chicken. I just kept thinking chicken, chicken, chicken, and chicken. I lost count on how many times i said chicken that night, but it stopped. Everything i experienced just disappeared and felt some movement in my leg or foot. Kept on thinking of chicken until any muscle in my body can wiggle. This is when i learned you need to think really hard because you're trying to snap your brain fully back on. I woke up and cried. After crying to my parents that night, i could not sleep properly. Then, i noticed my sleep paralysis would approximately start at 3AM. It didn't help my father loves showing horror movies since i was a child. I was shown the 4th Kind pretty young. The side by side footage made a terrifying impressionon me. It caused so much sleeping issues for me. I was taken to doctors and secondary professionals. None could help me besides meds or egg rituals. I researched and had bought me dreamcatchers. It was somewhat reassuring but not completely satisfying. But anyway, this is where my fear of aliens derived from. However, i made sure i had my chihuahua with me on my bed. This time i felt i was prepared. Third night, i had another one. My chihuahua sleeping on my legs. Same static feeling all over my body. Same difficulty breathing and rapid eye movements. Then, it tried once more. Idk what it was but it tried. However, i closed my eyes, repeated chicken, and then focused my attention to my dog. If my dog would hear or see what i am feeling he'll surely bark. But he did not bark. He was asleep, it gave me some relief and quickly awaken me from the trance state. After that, i have my dog on my bed when it is time for me to sleep. Going to college, i would had a few but my roommates were there so it didn't scare me often. Then, i decided to face it because i would be moving in alone at college. I induced a sleep paralysis but i was able to close my eyes and think of chicken. It would come sporadically but less and less. I was able to fight it and fully wake up. Now, i dont have them as much anymore. However, i think i am somewhat prepared if they do come back. Now, i have some crazy vivid dreams. There were some nightmares but it would last a couple seconds. My dreams are more complex and lucid. Idk if there are some correlation but it is important to see and understand your brain. Overall, sleep paralysis are the worst.

I've always wanted to expirience that fear wow. That sounds traumatic. Could you tell me things you might've done to trigger the paralysis? I have insomnia from anxiety but it's not like I dread sleeping and it might be because of that. I get startled easily and avoid horror movies, no one in my family is interested in them (or too scared) but I remember being scared of things when I was younger that I recall being not scary. For example, I had nightmares about superman killing a witch and she melts and recurring nightmares after watching someone on the TV have their wig removed by a drone. Strange but I don't get nightmares anymore. The closest thing I get to nightmares is when Im so tired that I don't need the extra 2 hours of trying to sleep (anxiety) and dream immediately, I would wake up startled, heart beating, sweaty ans heavy breaths. I then remember, what did I even dream about to make me like this?? And it would be nothing scary. I remember one of these short nightmares being 3 Angelina ballerinas dancing and I immediately woke up after seeing them for a split second. I calm myself down and then go back to sleep.

I'm 30 years old, and I still remember *_every single second_* of my encounter with sleep paralysis when I was 8. I still remember what she looked like. The hair, hair color, the wrinkles, her eyes and her teeth (and the way they shapshifted) and the style/color of her dress. I remember the way she would lurch at my face, with black voids for eyes and thin, razor sharp teeth, but when she pulled away from my face her eyes and teeth would go back to normal. This happened on repeat for only God knows how long.
I remember waking up from it, and not being able to move right away.
After that encounter instarted having nightmare after nightmare after nightmare, for literally weeks, and my mom made me a dreamcatcher from scratch because she read somewhere that they can make nightmares go away.
Well, it worked, but only too well. I stopped having nightmares, but i also stopped having dreams.

I went through a long period where anytime I would manage to doze off I would immediately "wake up" lying on a slab with hundreds or thousands of needles inserted all over my body and an unseen thing would pull them out slowly and painfully until the agony woke me up screaming. And then if I managed to get back to sleep I'd be right back there again. That and a lot of other things that kept me from sleeping properly have made long periods of time in my life a fog that I don't remember very clearly, but I'll never forget those needles...

I love watching horror movies until morning, which gives me recurring nightmares where it starts off the same, but the story continues! At some point, in the first dream, I wake up in my room, i kick my duvet so hard, but can't move, I also can’t scream for help. In the next, I still couldn’t get up, and praying helps me wake. Each nightmare gets worse. Eventually, I wake up with someone beside me, her long hair facing away. In later dreams, she starts to turn her head slowly towards me. Finally, I know I'll see her face on that time and I feel like I'll die, but I wake up. I have sleep paralysis regularly- about twice a month- and it's a little different than this. Though I have heard people have experiences where they hallucinate and can open their eyes. I cannot, it'll be like waking but not being able to move. It feels like I'm breathing too slow, but I can't control my breathing, It's very suffocating. Usually the quickest way out is to start trying to move immediately. It usually takes around thirty seconds (or that's what it feels like) of fighting but then I kind of just snap out of it. In an instant I wake up and am alert, but always so exhausted for some reason that I struggle to stay awake. I actually have to fight to keep from falling back asleep, and I do, because I HAVE had sleep paralysis, woken up, fell asleep, and had it AGAIN. It's extremely uncomfortable. >.< But the fear of it, for me at least, is less any precieved hallucinations and instead that feeling of not being able to move at all.

At a distance I noticed a dark shadow figure. It was slowly getting closer and closer(as I'm tying this im getting goosebumps again) the closer it got the less I was able to move. Then when it got to my face, I woke up but not really. I saw myself in third person, screaming wanting to wake up. Apparently my mom was calling me for breakfast and my dog was freaking out wanting to enter my room. Then a few minutes later, I finally woke up and yes, indeed my mom was calling me for breakfast and my dog was waiting for me by the door. It was an insane experience.

I get sleep paralysis (and general night terrors) pretty regularly and it was pretty accurate! Just imagine you're more delirious and it's much more disorienting in general. At least for me, it's not normally a fully consistent stream of consciousness. Most of the time when I come to, I can't remember EXACTLY what happened other than a shadow person being in my room. The few times I DO remember vividly were the most scared I've EVER been. Once, I fell asleep on the couch in my living room and I woke up to the sound of someone knocking on my door just a few feet away but I couldn't move. The knocking kept getting louder until finally they started violently jiggling the handle and slamming their body into the door. They managed to open it just a crack and all that was keeping it shut was the chain. I could see the shadow person's eyes staring straight into mine through the crack and they shoved their fingers through it trying to get the chain. Finally I remembered I didn't have a chain on my door at all and that's what snapped me out of it. Another time I was laying in bed and this little shadow boy was in the corner of the room. He seemed just as afraid of me as I was of him but he kept gathering up enough courage to rush over to the bed and quickly tap on my body a few times before running back to huddle in his corner. This kept happening more and more frequently and he got so brave he slapped me hard on the stomach. Luckily I started yelling despite not being able to open my mouth and my wife shook me out of it. First time I can remember it happening, there wasn't a physical hallucination but I just somehow knew the actual devil was in the room with me, invisibly watching me and taking pleasure in my fear. For years I believed this was what actually happened until I learned about sleep paralysis. Sadly enough, learning more about it seems to have been the catalyst to make it happen far more often

I experienced things like dark smokey beings coming from my vents above me and a woman (seemed evil) speaking to me. I've also seen a figure of a woman peeking around a post that was in my basement.

Probably the first time I've had to pause and take breaks from watching the full gameplay. I've had sleep paralysis in the past, and the game really nails it down. It usually occurred when I slept on my back (which I now refuse to do, always lay on my side when I sleep). The experiences worsened into early adulthood. As everyone in comments said, when it happens, you can't move, you can't speak. You can open your eyes, be fully aware of your surroundings, but that's it. Your mind is awake but your body remains asleep. I would explain the paralysis as a combination of the body not responding and exhaustion. This is what causes me to panic, the feeling that I was completely vulnerable. I won't go into full details as to what I saw/heard/felt, but I realized that it was all in my head. The mind becomes my own worst enemy, where my imagination makes it feel like a living nightmare.
So whenever I got sleep paralysis again, I made sure to keep my eyes closed, relax, and think of the hottest sexual fantasies. I'm not kidding. It helped that at the time (college student) I had a major sex drive and was totally into hentai. I really had to concentrate and just forget the fact that I could not move. In case you're wondering, NO, this did not cause me hallucinate those fantasies. It only helped me to avoid inexplicably seeing/hearing/feeling anything terrifying associated with sleep paralysis. Best way to explain it is that your mind can't make you feel anything scary if it's too busy thinking of you banging a hot cosplayer. I did this until I could fall back asleep and wake up normally. Have not had sleep paralysis in years, but I am more prepared in case it happens again.

However, since experiencing sleep paralysis, which felt incredibly real (initially I could move my whole body, but when I noticed the ghost, my body suddenly got pushed down and paralyzed), I have never turned off my light again.
This has negatively impacted my sleep quality because, according to science, if your body or skin is exposed to light while sleeping, some hormone or substance (I forget which) is produced less than when sleeping with the light off. As a result, my energy isn't fully restored upon waking, and I always feel sleepy and tired in the morning.

I felt the need to leave a comment about sleep paralysis and the possible connection between demonic attacks.
So I had a long history of drug abuse. I was quitting cold turkey from heroin and meth. Part of the withdrawals is that it's almost impossible to fall asleep. But when you do, it's only for 15 to 30 minutes. So one night on my 2nd day sober, I woke up in a sleep paralysis type state where you're not sure if you're awake or dreaming. Anyways, there were a bunch of demons hovering over me and I was completely frozen. All I wanted to do was scream, fight, and run. But I wasn't able to do anything. In my mind though I kept trying to call out to Jesus for help until finally I was able to wake up. A few days later my mom calls me and tells me she had a nightmare with demons telling her they wanted to destroy me and they are coming after me. That was the first time I started to believe in the spiritual world.

I was in bed falling asleep one night a few years ago with my ex partner. I’m traditionally a back sleeper, which supposedly makes me more susceptible to sleep paralysis.
I remember falling asleep, then later at some point opening my eyes to her levitating directly over me (faces/bodies aligned). I tried screaming as hard as I could but it was like someone had taken my ability to make noise away. Singly one of the most frightening sleep paralysis experiences of my life. If you’ve ever seen The Conjuring, it was a lot like the scene when the mom takes a nap and the witch finally takes over.
So sleep paralysis comes in all sorts of flavors. For some shadows, others noises, or lights (on/off). Others its just a feeling of dread

Sleep paralysis has happened to me on several occasions. It is the most frightening, terrifying and scary thing that has ever happened to me. I was awake but I couldn't move at all and "something" held my arms & legs. Then it was getting harder to breathe as I felt an evil presence. It was impossible to breathe as the presence continued it's attack on me. It felt like an eternity before it was finally over. When it finally ended and regained the ability to move. I had a pain on my back so I left my room in the barracks to check it out. I saw three long *** scratches on my back. I had so many other sleep paralysis occurrences after that.
I really feel like whatever happened on this and other incidents have followed me throughout my life ever since. I still have vivid and terrible nightmares, paralysis along with problems sleeping and not being to wind down my mind.
Also of note that these attacks happened throughout my two tours of duty (Navy) at Ft. Myer, VA Army Base which is situated right next to....Arlington National Cemetery.

I have experienced sleep paralysis once, whilst my psychiatrist and I were trying some unorthodox medications for my abysmal clinical depression. It was the most terrifying experience of my life, and I’m a veteran of literally hundreds of what some folks would call ‘bad’ acid trips (I don’t consider them bad-they are learning experiences in which we confront what Carl Jung called our ‘Shadow selves’-but they can be profoundly unsettling, at least until you have done the work and successfully integrated your Shadow). I have also been present for the deaths (from overdose) of two close friends, and at the age of 14 I discovered the body of my best mate, who’d knelt down next to his bed and eaten a .45-cal bullet in the little tool shed which we used as our hangout and musical practise space, so we could play loud without bothering his relatives. I will say only this, about that: his skull was not intact.
Whilst that last was technically the worst, as it took me 15 years before I could even start to deal with that, it did not inspire the same sense of absolute dread horror and panic as did the open-eye ‘dreams’ that accompanied my one night of sleep paralysis. The latter experience so terrified me that I could not even remain in my flat; some of the twisted, gruesome nightmares I experienced in between episodes of waking-unable to move-then falling into sleep again, against my will, took place in a transformed, nightmare version of my WC, and I was terrified one of the *things* I’d ‘seen’ would come limping out from ‘round my bedroom door, wheezing and dragging its mangled leg, with the intent of dragging me back to whatever hellscape what had birthed it.
It was roughly 0430; I called a friend, woke her up, and asked her to come get me-and to PLEASE bring a Thermos flask with coffee so Irish it had green rolling hills in it.
That is my memory of my ONE night of sleep paralysis-and I pray it remains ONE night. I don’t know how persons deal with it-those for whom the condition is chronic and persisting. I’d likely die of a fatal heart arrhythmia due to overuse of Dexedrine and Provigil.

I'm 30 and have only experienced it once when I was around 20. I woke up feeling dazed and unable to move or speak despite feeling I was making an effort. I can't remember if I could move my eyes. I had feelings of severe anxiety like when you feel you are in serious danger, but it was more than worry about the incapacitation, something extra like I could sense something sinister was in the room hiding or invisible. The whole time the hairs on my body were all tingling like when you have just had a jump scare. Not sure how long it lasted but it couldn't have been more than 3 minutes, and I didn't actually see anything. Judging by the comments seems I fortunately had a pretty mild experience, but I remember it as being probably the scariest I've ever had. The good thing about it is I had mine in the morning when daylight was brightening the room, I cannot imagine having even that milder experience in the middle of the night.

Yep I still vividly remember my sleep paralysis experience I had when I used to work a dairy farm, I was 17 at the time the days were long and I lived alone in this small house. Okay so I left the door to my room half open and I had this hallway light I’d leave on just for comfort really and I’d usually close the windows and curtains fully but I was very tired this night and hit the pillow early an the window to my right as I lay on my bed was wide open and so was the curtains, and I remember when it happened man I still get goosebumps thinking about it , this was over 7 years ago. Okay so I sorta semi woke up and then boom I couldn’t move and talk and then the panick started setting in and I could feel something tugging at my blanket from the left side by my foot an the next thing the door just started closing at a pace that wasn’t normal or couldn’t be from the wind and the hallway light turned off it was almost completely dark next thing my blanket just got pulled off me and I felt the cold it felt so real and I felt very vulnerable I was absolutely terrified at this moment and I shit you not, I seen this thing which looked similar to the ‘Grudge’ or that girl off ‘The Ring’ crawling though the window and up onto the ceiling moving towards me and stopping straight above my bed it’s head done a full 360 and it started falling towards me goddamn it woke me straight up and everything was back to normal the door was open, the light was on an the blanket was still on me, I was covered in sweat and my heart was pounding I got up and turned on most of the lights in the house and closed the windows and curtains after that and started wearing eye covering when I slept

The first game really hit me because I often experience having dreams, nightmares, and sleep paralysis. And yes, I already went to the doctor several times for this.
Anyway, it's usually when I am super knackered and my room is cold room. I know I am experiencing it because sometimes my dream would be in a loop (the scenario keeps on happening again and again) and I feel like I'm awake but I'm not. I often tell myself to "wiggle your toes or fingers" (in the dream) for me to wake up. Usually, you cannot move your body nor your arms and legs.
The worse sleep paralysis I had was when "I was trying to escape my flat". There were different voices saying "You can escape, but you won't wake". Every time I try to manage to "escape my flat", I would always wake up on my bed and I feel like something is holding me down. For the last "loop", I had my limbs cut off and I was trying to reach for my glass of water so I can "splash my face" for me to wake up. I was able to (in my dream)... I woke up sweating, panting, and crying like a bitch - and ofc, it was just a dream.
That was my worse sleep paralysis encounter. And ever since, I would always write my vivid dreams on my journal.

Apparently, (based on what I read which was a while ago and I've definitely phrased it in a very unsophisticated way) the science behind sleep paralysis is just that your thinking brain wakes up but the bits that control your physical body haven't woken up yet, I can't remember what they said about the common thing of seeing/sensing a presence. I used to get it tons and tons as a kid and when I was untreated for anxiety so was stressed constantly, but the odd time I get it now I don't see a presence, the sheer terror isn't quite there, I'm aware of what's going on and it's still freaky as fuck but I'm able to stay calm and work towards getting just one muscle to move to snap out of it.
When I used to get it loads the absolute fear was horrific, I often saw something just out of the corner of my eye and I'd be desperately trying to shout "Help me" while trying to move.

I’ve experienced this and it’s usually when you’re very tired (wake up early then go back to sleep on your back) it’s a feeling of dreaming and being awake at the same time. You feel total fear something you don’t experience while awake for some reason this unlocks absolute terror like your worst fear incarnated and you see “figures” and hear things clearer than you would with your ears. It’s like hearing pure sounds without your ears filtering and diluted the noise. What you hear and see is like an old black and white TV vs an HD 4k tv with surround sound. Anyone who has experienced this understands exactly what I’m saying….

  • @kevinhuffmaster7291
    @kevinhuffmaster7291 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I’ve had multiple episodes of sleep paralysis through out my life, and I’d say this is sort of accurate. The not being able to move or speak is right, but everything happens a lot faster and everything tends to be a less accurate representation of what it’s suppose to be, if that makes sense (ex, you might see a TV in place of where your lamp is suppose to be).
Essentially, sleep paralysis is you mind waking up before the rest of your body, so your mind is trying to fill in spaces where your other sense would normally help; which causes the hallucinations. So you’re more prone to hallucinate things you start thinking about, “oh man I sure hope someone isn’t in the corner” *shadow man instantly appears on corner* “as long as he doesn’t run towards me” *runs towards you*.
Ultimately, based on my experiences, I would say the games representation of sleep paralysis is okay, but you’d probably break out of it before the final scare would even have a chance.

As someone who suffered severely from sleep paralysis most of their life, it’s terrifying. There’s no fear like it. I use to dream I’d wake up but I realized it was just another dream. It’s like I was dreaming in dream within another dream in another one. Mental torture. Can’t move. Can’t speak. You can only open and close your eyes and cry. I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy. I have sleep paralysis often. Not every night and sometimes there might be a period I go months without going through it, but it always comes back. For the most part the game is pretty accurate. For me, I can see the room I’m in from the perspective of where I “fell asleep”. I usually always have an overwhelming feeling of fear/anxiety mostly due to the fact that I know I’m having a sleep paralysis episode. I can’t move and a common theme for me is I hear people running around and slamming doors. Or I hear someone fighting and I can’t move to help the person who is begging for help. There are times when I feel as if there is some presence that I am terrified of. When watching the first game you played I found myself trying to only focus on the foot of the bed and nothing else around the room. I counted the slats on the base of the bed… paid attention to the white color of the base of the bed… noticed there was a little scuff on the base of the bed. It’s a strategy I have so I don’t look around… I don’t want to see anything. “I am okay, I am going to wake up, just focus on one thing and do not look around. Dissociate from this exact moment. Are you awake yet? You’re gonna wake up soon. Don’t worry you’re gonna wake up soon.”

yes, the sleep paralysis is accurate. the first time it happened to me i screamed while “asleep”, but still wasn’t able to move, talk, open my mouth or open my eyes. woke up the next day and talked to my mom about it and she tells me she heard me scream so i proceeded to ask why didn’t she wake me up and she said she’s not supposed to. i’m also hispanic, so if this tells you anything then you know it’s foreal 😂 lol she also told me if it ever happens to me again to pray while it’s happening and/or cuss it out. ofc i cuss it out in spanish since curse words in spanish sound 10x worse and honestly it’s helped 🙃 other times it’s happened to me i’ve heard someone or something running back and forth around me. scariest thing ever. it’s said you can apparently see something after waking up, so i always keep my eyes closed and try to fall back asleep bc NO THANK YOU!

  • @Mistress-Noir
    @Mistress-Noir 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I’ve had it a few times but my 1st was the absolute worst! I thought I saw a demon and it was clawing at my leg, and I felt the claws like knives and I was screaming but no sound was coming out. I couldn’t move or anything. And then the demon was getting closer and going up further on my leg. Like really far up my thigh. I was 9-10. I remember crying. Then when my body finally was able to move I screamed so loud I woke everyone. I told my grandma everything. I mean everything. My leg was numb but I still felt like someone had tried to cut me. You know that feeling of you being numb but you get cut… that’s what I felt minus the wound.
And I thought she would say it was just in my head or something but she didn’t. She actually believed me. And she grabbed me and told me I’d be sleeping with her that night. And she prayed. Then she put her hand on my leg and prayed (she was a Caribbean lady that was very religious/ spiritual) etc. I was able to sleep comfortably after that. But then years later I’d have these lil sleep apnea / paralysis thing happen. I’d stop breathing and i knew I wasn’t breathing but I couldn’t move either. Couldn’t talk, nothing. Everytime I told myself to breathe take a breath I couldn’t. Until I was at the point I thought that was it. Then I’d wake up and be able to breathe and move.
Yeaaa I got some issues I guess Lolol.

On point simulator of sleep paralysis. I recently had one episode myself. It happens once in like years for me. I just remember closing my eyes, it felt like seconds later, I open my eyes, I see my room, my door going to the hallway. My layout of my entire room. But I can’t move a muscle and I can’t make a noise. Suddenly I hear old timey music playin in my hallway, talking about that 1920’s creepy music playing so vividly. I keep trying to move and just from that, I start to panic. The music gets louder and I remember I kept barely moving my head over to see my wife sleeping next to me. I’m sure I tried to wake her up to help me. Then I actually woke up, my arms went flying up into the air and I wake up looking around and have a panicked feeling. It’s such an odd experience. Cuz you don’t feel like ya sleeping in the slightest the entire time.
