I have been a viewer and sub for sometime, and it still amazes me that you are holding the camera in your mouth for many of the shots in this video. I like it all, the water hunts, the land hunts, and the way you guide us through them. Plus, we need not forget about the treasure hunters wet dream, your "relic room". Very well done, thumbs up.
Very cool relics and button finds. Awesome how the new MD scored more then the old. Man we can't wait til summer. Congrats again. GL and HH -=The Twins=- Bob and Bill
I'm 99 percent sure on this one.I've never used one, but the OLD geezers at auctions all say that's what they were used for.Keep on findin' things out there in that wonderful area. Best vacations we ever had were out in your neck of the woods; so historic!
Really enjoy your vids, AC! Spikey thing with a wheel is a Shocking tool.Used for making corn shocks by assisting the user to get a piece of binder twine around a Shock( stack of corn stalks)during harvest.
Great dig at the Colonial site. I've dug a few of them diamond shaped hand forged hooks as well. Few different sizes, always keep them and often wonder what their story is to tell. Also got to love them huge early colonial buttons, always a thrill to see them come out of the dirt!
I love your vids I love how you are not just about the gold rings and i love how you appreciate the history in all finds you make and the connection to us in our current age . Loved your video on those coins found in the creak cleaned man that was a drooler vid . so far your my fave when it comes to detecting relics i watch you and get pumpt just to bad my at pro is on its way back from a checkup at the walk in clinic in Texas from a STD ( Stopped The Detecting ) lol keep em comming thumbs up !
Yes I did enjoy, like always! You have inspired me to dig my iron so in the next couple days I will go back to a spot that kicked my butt and finish my dig and then it will be posted here. Thanks Aquachigger.
Great video, Aqua!! Just got my T2 and your videos are great for someone that wants to get the most out of the teknetics!!! Keep them comeing, thanks a million!!!
Enjoyed it. The locus tree brought back memories. When I was a kid I ran one of those thorns in my shin. There is still a black dot where it went in. I call that my only tattoo. lol
I've been pondering this awhile. I think that diamond shape with the loop is farm equipment. It's where the chain on the end of traces or tugs( leather straps or lines to pull from a horses chest) hooks to the tongue or shafts of an implement. If a 5/16 or 1/4 chain will fit thru the gap, that's probably it. Oh, and usually there's an offset from the plane of the loop to the centerline of the diamond or square, depending on the construction of it.Or possibly an attachment toa spike tooth harrow.
Thanks Beau, I just got my first machine, an Ace 350. Only had it out twice and then the ground froze. Dug some junk Al can shards, a lighter, some iron nuts and bolts, a modern penny. Amazing the amount of crap humans have contributed to the soil! Really enjoy your vids and look forward to more. Thanks again.
Those white Di pro 5900 and 6000 metal detectors are cool metal detectors they are hard to find anymore around here. I owned two of them and a silver eagle long ago. I got a whites dfx now. I couldn't complain about those other 3 mention found some amazing finds with them. Alot of silver dimes and quarters at a old abandoned horse track. I got my DFX with a saved program of my own and the depth is maxed to 99 without any interference it works well with an eclipse DD 6x10 coil on it one of those oval shape coils does wonders when you want to find small ear rings with it its accurate to find a shot gun bead that is how good they work I bought that coil down in Flordia but you can get them at any whites electronic metal detector shop. I've found indian head pennies and about 3 sterling silver rings with it a few wheat pennies an alot of new coins with it I cannot complain about that its well worth your money if you bought a DFX E-Series. It does wonders.
Very nice vid as always Beau. I think the takeaway lesson from this one for me is in differentiating between iron signals - I tend to only dig flat iron that fools the detector and gives a high tone... Or sometimes I'll pull overload signals if I'm in a good spot, which has paid off several times. But I like your approach to this. Hey, after all the promo Garrett got with your river coins video, I'd think the least they could do is send you a pro-pointer or two!! :) Cheers,BB
Although you didn't manage to dig up a coin, your video is very interresting, I think that it's the best way for begginers to start the hobby : sharing experience is also what metal detecting is about !! Thanks for sharing, I'm eagger to see the next !
Beau, I am just starting to get interested in metal detectoring and spent the winter watching videos and reading stuff online. I think I have narrowed down what machine I am going to purchase as soon as the ground starts to thaw, up here in Maine that could be June. Anyway I just wanted to tell you that it was your easy enthusiasm and genuine joy that has been stoking the fire to get out and find some stuff, of all the videos you and Nugget Noggin are the videos that I find most enjoyable. Thanks for making these for us, I look forward to more in the future. Also, I you ever want to hunt Maine or Vermont I have been doing some research on a few sites that may be bonanzas...
Back in the day, I used to get all excited coming across a place like that. A couple of tons of iron later, not so much! Lol - still love the old house sites though!
My idea was that when I hear a iron tone with a good tone, it's probably gonna be a piece of iron with something round attached to it (like your wallhook). But your last find made me think I should always dig those signals. Especially on really old sites. I learned something today. Thanks. HH Marc
I was wondering if that was the case - I'd love to hear your explanation as to why you prefer to hunt without one... Amazing site by the way - look forward to following your 2013 digs. Cheers, BB
thanks for sharing another great video-its not always about finding real old coins, or civil war stuff - watching the machine at work and learning what its telling you is good education for us newbies. Do you use any other detectors than the AT Pro, AT Gold and T2? I'd be interested in watching you do a video series on all reputable brands of detectors from entry level machines to high end ones.ever thought of that? Perhaps the mfg's are reading these comments and could supply you with them?
I used to have a T2 it was a great detector, finds coins and buttons good in the nail infested cellar holes and goes deep, but like most single freq machines it does like iron....I love the etrac for cellar hole hunting but the T2 is alot lighter
That big chunk of iron looks like a sad iron, which was heated in the fire and then inserted into the door in the back of a brass iron to iron clothing. The hook looks like it is either off a single tree or a set of wooden hames, for the type of harness that had chain traces instead of leather traces and heel chains, and since you found a short length of trace chain with it, I'd say that probably confirms it.
Beau, great videos! Really fires up my metal detecting juices! I am fairly new at the hobby, although i've owned a detector for about 6 years, just haven't used it as much as I'd like. It is a Bounty Hunter, Quick Draw II, kinda your standard first decent detector....i am looking for a really solid affordable $450-600 detector mostly for coin shooting and beach hunting (i live in southern California), as well as some historic relic hunting. I was thinking a Garret AT Pro? Thoughts??
Howdy Love your videos what kind of camera do you use.....Thanks and keep up the digging....waiting for the spring thaw to happen in New Hampshire before I can dig those cellar holes around here !
Going to hunt some colonial homesteads next week. The ground was off limits (historical society) until recently and the land owner has given me the go-ahead to start digging. Luckily the ground is virgin and has never been detected. Also planning on digging the privys up if I can get a group of people to help out. My fiance will be filming it so I may post the highlights.
I notice that you keep a lot of iron relics. What do you do with them when they are clean? I have some items that I cannot ID from some of the old sites up here in Maine. I never know weather to keep them or toss them.
Beau A while back you stated you used Whites MDs for a good bit. Is a Classic SL entry level , intermediate or what sort of classification would you give it. I don't know em. I value your opinion. Roger
Ok one more thing then I'm done....I do like digging iron relics, some are very cool, I just dislike flat rusty iron. axe heads old tools and other random unknown Iron relics are always cool to find ! Nice Job once again
know you've been asked before but how do you have your camera. set up on your hat.? appreciate you taking time to show us your methods. btw what type of camera.?
Hey, i am starting to get intrested in that sorts of stuff. Would you recommend me any metal detectors and pointers (money doesnt matter) . What is your equpiment? What do you take with you while going on a trip? Thanks a lot! :)
Its me again sorry to bother you, i started detecting about five years ago, detected for about a year then started my family now there abit older i started again. It was this first year of detecting i found some ammo and molten lead i think, and watching your vids reminded me of this, the reason i mention this is because i found a dogs head or snakes head made from the same stuff any ideas as to what this may have been this would be the british civil thanks hope more vids on the way all the best
nice video! Thanks for the tip by the way. Ill be more careful. Im 14 and I LOVE detecting! I have a whites classic sl. Any way, nice finds, and keep it up! : )
Would you please tell me ,where the 'sweet spot" is located on the T2 coil ? Is it dead center on the coil,or the front tip, back tip ? I have seen comments about its location, but thought I would ask an expert. Thanks from a fan in Vermont
Thanks for the vids, very interesting great civil stuff always gets my attention as me and my eldest bro are members of a civil war renactments, we hav mostly replica stuff thanks again for the vids good hunting.

Your site is better than watching anything on TV! Very entertaining. Thanks.
Always like your videos Beau. Love seeing the T2 in action. Your videos are never too long. Very informative and fun to watch.
Jim
Cool finds....I love finding the old iron artifacts..Love all of your videos..
Very cool relics and button finds. Awesome how the new MD scored more then the old. Man we can't wait til summer. Congrats again.

The item at 9:40 is a shock tie for tying up corn shocks. Some are very collectable especially with a good name brand.
I'm 99 percent sure on this one.I've never used one, but the OLD geezers at auctions all say that's what they were used for.Keep on findin' things out there in that wonderful area. Best vacations we ever had were out in your neck of the woods; so historic!
Thankyou for the info, will endeavour to upload sum pics of my civil finds and my replicas all the best and good hunting.

I had one of those thorns in my hand for years! We always called em "pig thorns" back home....but honey locust works too
at 5:54 i think that's a part to a cinch buckle.....as in western saddle cinch
Rushelle Kopah img0.etsystatic.com/061/0/6689650/il_214x170.762814960_j1rf.jpg
I believe that pulley type thing at 9:40 or so was a pulley to lift hay bails if I'm not mistaken. :)
Always love the tips AC! Love that Big button! Best regards -Russ
Back in the day, I used to get all excited coming across a place like that. A couple of tons of iron later, not so much! Lol - still love the old house sites though!
That would be great Beau.
Thanks a lot.
great videos , im looking to buy a garrett at pro this month, just waiting for the ground to get soft

Always interesting and informative regardless of what you find. Thanks.

❤❤❤ Ok chigg I've now officially watched all your videos! 😊
I hope you kept that iron pulley/spike thing.
That was my favorite thing you found. lol
look forward to seeing the GPX 5000 in action-thanks again!
I was wondering if that was the case - I'd love to hear your explanation as to why you prefer to hunt without one... Amazing site by the way - look forward to following your 2013 digs. Cheers, BB
the unknown article is a tool to bind and tie corn or fodder shocks
Evening Beau,
I'm learning from you. Could you speak more of how, why, and when you use electrolysis?
Thanks
thanks for sharing another great video-its not always about finding real old coins, or civil war stuff - watching the machine at work and learning what its telling you is good education for us newbies. I love digging iron. It's like the ultimate grab bag!
Yeah, I hear ya. The days do go by fast.
That object with the pulley might have been attached to the front of a barn, and used to pull hay bails up into the loft.
nice video and good hunt ,worth taking a chance on the Iron signal, you just never know .all the best regards scorpio HH NT
Dang that honey locus is gnarly. Thanks for the heads up
I used to have a T2 it was a great detector, finds coins and buttons good in the nail infested cellar holes and goes deep, but like most single freq machines it does like iron....I love the etrac for cellar hole hunting but the T2 is alot lighter

Been enjoying your videos Beau. Well done and you seem like a great guy. God bless. Also WV boy.
LMAO!! Don't go running through the woods crazy if you find something good !!
I'll remember that Chiggy :o .
Beau, great videos! Really fires up my metal detecting juices! I am fairly new at the hobby, although i've owned a detector for about 6 years, just haven't used it as much as I'd like. I think I know what the peice of Iron was at 9:16 an old iron for clothes or some sort of farm equipment
It look's like part of a clothes line pully
Love the buttons. Don't feel bad, I went out for a couple hours the other day and all I found worth keeping was one toasted Buffalo nickel.
Thanks for sharing. Can
you tell me what kind of shovel you are using, please?
Howdy Love your videos what kind of camera do you use.....Thanks and keep up the digging....waiting for the spring thaw to happen in New Hampshire before I can dig those cellar holes around here !

Great stuff! Looking forward to the next video. Do you record any at the DIV? Wouldn't mind seeing your take on the hunt. See ya there in March!
Wow great job
very good..enjoyed it.
There was a lot of useful info for somebody like myself, whom is hoping to get a detector soon....
@Beau Ouimette. What would you do if you found a live cannonball? I did not find one ...yet. I just want to know what to do if I do
Very cool!
Great video! Yes i too would like to see you make a video telling why you dont use a pinpointer on land! Thanks!
Love your videos! I'm getting my first detector!!
Beau A while back you stated you used Whites MDs for a good bit. Is a Classic SL entry level , intermediate or what sort of classification would you give it. I don't know em. I value your opinion. Roger

Time to go back over this with your new Garrett.
How many years have you been metal detecting?
nice relics
nice tips and great video there is more objects all the best: manu
what kind of shuval is that? is it for post diging ?
Some of the pieces of iron could have also been really old roofing shingles
Would you please tell me ,where the 'sweet spot" is located on the T2 coil ? Is it dead center on the coil,or the front tip, back tip ? I have seen comments about its location, but thought I would ask an expert. Thanks from a fan in Vermont
at 9:41 my grandma has one, can't remember what it was called tho.
That hook might have been a coat hanger on a door
COOL VID VERY INFORMATIVE THANKS
