For a brief second, you get a feeling of general concern from Beetlejuice prolly thinking "Why does this kid want to die??? She has her whole life ahead of herself." That right there, that subtlety in that part speaks volumes. I wonder if Tim meant to put that in there as an Anti-Suicide message.
I love Lydia's quick thinking and deductive reasoning here. She heard Barbara say his name 3 times, his voice sounded like the snake, all the while dealing with the confusion of playing charades while trying to learn more about who he is, what's he doing here, etc. all in a matter of seconds. Despite knowing how deadly he can be, she still doesn't panic or overreact. More like she doesn't know what to make of this guy now that she knows he's just a bum.
Yeah, lol. Also, I've always wondered why it takes her so long to guess the second part of his name, he places a carton of orange juice right there but she guesses Beetle breakfast, beetle orange, beetle drink, before ever saying the word juice.
@@alvexok5523 To be fair, if we were in that position, we wouldn't know what to do as we'd be paralyzed by fear. In addition, who has a name like Beetlejuice?

Well Adam was kinda hopeful they could one day. He wanted to practice on their stay at home vacation. Infertile isn’t sterile so they could’ve kept trying to conceive
It's also implied that they had a miscarriage while they were alive. If that's the case, I wonder if they ever found the ghost of their dead unborn baby between the events of this movie and the events of the sequel.

Lydia being rentroduced to her long time friend who turned into her boyfriend at some point of Warner Brothers Beetlejuice cartoon. @@KOOKIE-w5l It suppose to be scary for the little kids, because of the afterlife world. So that why it kind of a scary and dark humor (for adults) movies.
Ive loved this movie since i was literally 6 years old and i first got to see it on Showtime "or whatever it was on... we got free Showtime, Cinemax and HBO via turning the TV to channel 4, then the CABLE box to the upper 400s or whatever it was. and it came in almost perfect. i never noticed until literally about 10 years ago he screams "FEEEECK YEW, SAY IT!!!!" as he falls of the Balcony! hahahaha!

In the original script it’s hinted at more that Beetlejuice committed suicide. I’ve always thought that he says it like that because he can’t understand why Lydia would want to be dead after he’s been dead for six hundred years and knows how much it sucks.
@@superherowolf2444 I think Ortho says a line that "those that commit suicide become civil servants". Since Beetlejuice worked for Juno, he probably was a civil servant.
@3Rayfire This and Heathers, which she was in straight after this movie. It's funny she's suicidal in this movie but not the one where teenage suicide kept getting talked about - no one actually dies of suicide (unless you count the end but I've read that may have been a fake death, which means he may still be alive...) but the murders are all made out to be suicides. Apparently Heathers not only partly established Ryder with this movie, but also fully established Christian Slater. So apparently he was established as the kind of actor to call on for weird loner characters or crazy assassins, something like that.

I like how he momentarily loses sight of his plan to get loose and cause havoc just to genuinely express confusion that Lydia wants to be dead.
He shows his humanity and lets his guard down for one brief moment. Excellent acting from Keaton.
I definitely did not think about that when I younger, but as an adult it hits home.
I think it was more not understanding why she would want to be a ghost if it meant being stuck like him
@@zoidboy1569 I read it as "death being overrated". Also, he is a prisoner in death. The living are free.
