anyways time for a super fun word soup for algorithm stuff (I don't really know if this works)
This video I made game dev 1000% funnier, with me and my good friends Dani, Codycanteatthis, toiu, and many more I made the GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME. and it's a horror game like, Five nights at Freddy's, Poppy playtime, and other famous games.

@@gregsmith8977 Basically, to deform the mesh game engine needs to go through every bone, and move every single vertex associated with that bone every single frame. And also, deforming mesh doesn't benefit from many optimisations.
The sculpted meshes have around a million triangles, and so, they are usually retopologized, aka rebuilt with much smaller vertex count and better geometry flow for deformation.

One change I would make is to sue procedural animation for the blob thing, that way the legs automatically move and you just need to move the body

Great Game. Though I would like to suggest that when you make another enemy that has more than two movement limbs like a spider for example. Create a procedural animation for it instead. You don't even have to animate it. It's just basically coding where the limbs move to when the enemy changes locations. It's super neat. There's a lot of tutorials for it.
Thanks for the advice! I’d heard about procedural animations before I started work on the game but I didn’t know how to use it. However I’ll definitely try it in my next game!

you should of made the monster break in to the door by making his arm slice a hole in to it. It would be easier to animate (and be cooler)

@@seventy_squid this was done on my desktop that has a r5 3600XT, 1660ti nvidea gpu, and 16gbs of ram. But you could probably do it with a less powerful machine. I’ve been making my next game on my laptop.

Not bad, but the one thing i hate in that game was the movements but i know and understand why so. But l'll give this a 7/10 but if the movements was better it will be a 8/10 game just a little review. love the game and atmosphere, and it's about space witch i love, so great and good job on it and keep it up. 👍👌
Yeah the movement was one of those things that seemed cooler in my head, but by the time I got deeper into develop I realized I didn’t care for it. But at that point I didn’t have time to change it. That’s one thing I was referring to when I talked about the gameplay at the end of the video. Fun gimmick, wouldn’t use it again.

sorry for the long writing but its really inspiring for me to see someone not super good at game development make a pretty good game, because normally i would see someone really good work on a project similar to one i wanna work on and be like "how am I ever going to be that good." or i see someone that's really struggling with game dev and ends up making bad games. it demotivates me. but not you. you're different 👍 keep going strong and you could make a whole career out of this

hey man, great video! I was wondering how you went about level design (more so the graphics) and what tools you used to create it. I am a very skilled programmer when working with unity now but I haven't got deep into graphics design outside of playing around with HLSL shaders in unity. I have a little experience with blender and know the basics but I was wondering if you got free assets from online or if you made the whole level in blender and textured using tools like substance painter? or if you did something else? Any advice you can give me I would appreciate a ton ;)
The way I went about the basic rooms before decorating was just by making a wall, floor, ceiling, door, and window model then made all of the rooms out of those in unity (I'm not very good with blender). I just found the materials on the unity asset store. for the decorating, I made some of the models my self, but found most of them off sketchfab and the unity asset store. the only asset a I bought was the astronaut model for the Vacants (that's what I call the orange space suit enemies). My plan for the next game would hopefully be to make more of my own models but we'll see when that time comes. Hope this helps!

As always, just give it a shot. you'll never know what your strengths and weaknesses are without trying. but another thing I've learned as I've been doing this is to finish projects, even if they don't turn out as well as you would hope! best of luck!
