Since I'd been working hard at getting back into game dev, I thought it would be fun to go back to my roots five years ago when I first dabbled in it. My goal was to remake my first game, basically a roll-a-ball game with a few a hacked on mechanics and levels, but this time around I would challenge myself (and hopefully avoid tutorial purgatory) by not directly googling how to do anything - in essence, no tutorials besides good old Unity documentation and forums.
I had no idea just what was in store for me and what I thought would only take weeks - took months. Even though it took forever, the whole process was actually really fun and I learned a lot more than I thought I would - a bit of everything from programming, 3d modeling, animation, sound design, optimization, and much more. It might be a bit of a jump, but AI is next on my list!
As for what the game I’ve made actually is/will become, I have no idea! Right now I've got an idea of making some sort of metroidvania since your mobility is pretty limited as sphere and new abilities would really help with traversal, but really I’ll just have to see what happens as I add, remove, and refine different mechanics. Anyways, I really hope you enjoyed watching my first devlog and stick around for the next one!

The part in the epic montage displaying the new game where you freeze time, go around the sentry shooting like 50 shots (all frozen), go back to the original spot and then unfreeze was peak gaming.
For any of you wondering, The reason he hasn't made a new devlog is that he's been busy with school. Quote taken from his Twitter: "I'm not quite sure when since university work has been making progress really slow, but as I continue working on it with my few remaining brain cells when I'm able it's bound to happen eventually!"

I barely started developing games and I mostly understand it.
Parenting kinda connects from what I understand some objects. Here is a way to look at it(if I'm correct about what it is):
Let's say there is a car and wheels connected to it. Just a normal car.
The wheels are the "child objects" and the car itself, or the "car body" if you prefer, is the "parent"
The wheels can spin, and that way change the location of the car, and their own rotation.
Now, what happens if we move, or rotate the car? The wheels will move with it, and rotate when it does. It also keeps its distance, without changing it.
From what I got(I still don't know much about developing) that is basically parenting.
I don't think I need to explain the "update it's position every frame" part
