How to: Green Tea Facial Scrub Tutorial (detox your skin)

  • (yes guys, I woke up and did this tutorial without doing my hair... Mega bed head alert)
    Hi everyone,
Here is another homemade mask recipe as promised. I am loving this facial scrub so much!!!! You guys have to try it. Who needs to spend large amounts of cash when all you need is to go downstairs into your own kitchen?
My 'Origins Modern Friction' exfoliater works great but my skin is far too sensitive for the ingredients. It stung my face when I washed it out. Until one morning, I was sipping my greentea when I suddenly had a thought and wondered if we can use greentea as an ingredient for our skin. We can!!! Greentea not only tastes wonderful but has promising benefits for our body and skin.
This homemade mask is inexpensive and great for getting rid of dead skin cells (which can pile up giving you a dull complexion). By using the scrub when it is slightly warm, it opens our pores allowing the nutrients of the mask to cleanse deep within. I get questions by people asking me how they can reduce appearance of scars. The answer is by exfoliating and removing the scar tissues. You can even use this scrub on your body. The amount I reccomended is for 2-4 applications. You can adjust the recipe to make it more 'thick' or 'thin' so it suits yourself. I would reccomend you to exfoliate at least once a week.
If you have a jar, store it in your fridge (use still bottled water instead though). You can buy green tea (teabags or loose tea leaves) in your supermarket. You are sure to be able to get some. If would be awesome if you have greentea powder.
Hope you guys enjoy this as much as I did,
    Much love,
    Bubbi
ps. Notice the dark circles? Thats the 5am livechat sessions with you guys O_o but it was worth it. xx

this has made my skin so much nicer! Ive started by pressing warm green tea on my face every night and the scrub once a week. I then put the cold wash cloth on my eyes every morning just like in your "Bye Bye dark circles" video....I cant get over how much this has even helped my acne and my large pores =) thanks so much

I love this! I always just used a scrubbing towel for exfoliating, but this worked so much better! My skin is so smooth and soft, and the scars on my face and arms are faded. My skin just glows! Thank you Bubbi!

It DOES matter whether you use loose leaves or teabags. The leaves in teabags are very low-quality ones. It's made by the CTC (crush tear curl) method and causes a lot of pressure and stress on the leaves causing the cells to break and makes it impossible to hold on to essential oils.
There's a lot more to say about this but go and buy yourself quality loose leaves. (you'll also notice a lot of taste difference!)

Antiozonant agents: blends of paraffin and micro waxes are used in rubber compounds to prevent cracking of the rubber; the admixture of wax migrates to the surface of the product and forms a protective layer. The layer can also act as a release agent, helping the product separate from its mold.

I just did this! My face feels really clean and cool. I exfoliated just very very gently and it got a great majority of the dead skin bumps I used to feel on my skin. I don't like using chemicals on my face so I put yogurt on my face as a moisturizer.

I don't have trouble with acne but like everyone else I do get an odd spot now and again, but I've been using this mask for about 6 months now and I've not had a SINGLE spot or blemish since I've started using it once a week, the only difference is I replaced baby oil with olive oil. Thank you so much bubz! :)

i applied it to my face at night, a really thick layer, and slept without washing it off. today, it was rly dry and i washed it off. my skin in reeeeally smooth like you woudlnt believe. some of my acne scars disappeared, those red marks you know, my skin is whiter and i love this i'm gonna do this really often, thx a lot

i mixed 3 spoons of sugar, 1 spoon of green tea, 1 spoon of honey and lemon together and scrubbed it into my skin. it works really nicely. it leaved my skin soooo soft and radiant. hope it reduces redness and marks lefted by blemishes :s and i used the left ovet tea (i put it in the fridge to cool down more) as a toner and it felt nice and refreshing. then i ofc drank a big cup of green tea as well :) but Bubbi, you should do a tutorial how to get rid of blemish marks or what you call them.

@therivalconcept I completely agree. you guys should know it does leave your skin soft, BUT IT WILL CAUSE PIMPLES. the oil will clog your pores and can make you breakout. of course, it varies from person to person, but for those with dry or oily skin this can cause pimples. use honey lemon olive oil for better effects without pimples.

It slows cellular regeneration, which can damage collagen, elastin and connective tissue and contribute to the appearance of aging. It’s used as a base for cosmetics and medications because it stays on the skin but, while it is classified as non-comedogenic, it is also water-repellant and not water-soluble, making it difficult to cleanse from the skin. Even a minimal daily application can build up in the pores and attract dirt and bacteria, causing breakouts and skin irritation.

I drink the same green tea as you! I make a cup of it before i go in the bath, and relax and drink, and after i cleanse my face and the tea bags cooled, i use it as a toner and leave it on for 10 mins, then rinse. That jasmine has to help too!

Boil the water first , followed by cooling it down in another cup for about a few minutes before you add to the green tea. If the water is 100^Celcius boiling temperature , it would or might destroy the beneficial antioxidants or draw out too much tannins too quickly.
    The water should be around 35 - 90 ^ C max.
The longer you steep the tea , the more the tea polyphenols antioxidants will draw out and other beneficial compounds. Strong brew tea has more tannins.

I'm using coconut oil. It's amazing stuff. It'll do wonders for your body. I use it under my eyes as a moisturizer and it's actually got rid of some of the wrinkles under my eyes (I'm young so I don't have that many, just some wrinkles). I mean it's not a huge difference but still! I do tend to break out whenever I use it all over my face though :/ I have somewhat oily skin.

There are natural alternatives that deeply nourish and truly hydrate the skin, while rebuilding collagen and balancing moisture levels so that the skin isn’t just temporarily relieved of dryness, itching or chapping - it’s actually restored to the point that it stays hydrated and repairs better on its own.

As a tea enthusiast I have to say that putting boiling water in your tea kills the leaves and the nutrients (green tea is already steamed so it retains it's "green") and that's why when you steep green tea too long in boiling water it's bitter... so i suggest that use water that's been cooled about a minute or two. It'll be hot enough to help dissolve the sugar...

Mineral oil doesn't clog pores and neither does Vaseline. Dermatologists have done studies about it. They do however make you skin feel greasy which is why it isn't recommended for people with oily skin, but you could use it at night and be fine if you wash it off in the morning. :)

hmmm i wonder :taps chin: if you are going to add oil, adding the oil to the sugar before adding the tea may protect the sugar grains from melting...not that i agree with using mineral oil on facial skin but to each her own! it certainly does dramatically soften if your skin can handle it. i'm going to try it with lavender & honey. thanks for the video!
