Not at all. The Earth may not be capable of Warp Drive and beaming, but their beaming out of the courtroom does not affect the culture in any way. We already have knowledge about such things because of Star Trek in all its incarnations.

Most of that stuff is true how weird a real night court can be. Had a family member that was a police officer in New York City back from the late 1960s till the early 1990s. He said Barney Miller and Night Court were more fact then fiction with out the comedy or lag track.

Night Court was a great wacky sitcom that aired on Thursdays at 9:30 as a part of NBC's Must See Thursday lineup. It's original run was from 1985 until 1992.
I think it would have been nice to have Brent Spiner as Data in this one. He was in this show as well as Star Trek TNG. John Larroquette played a Klingon on Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
There is an episode of TOS though were ambassador Sarek is framed for murder by use of the Vulcan death grip. Apparently it is an old Vulcan technique that isn't used any more because Vulcan don't kill people as much as they used to.
Isn't that a little extreme sending them to a Klingon penal colony ? I mean I know they broke both the Prime and Temporal Prime Directives but a Vulcan facility would've been sufficient. After all they are Star Fleet.
I can't remember if this is a Halloween episode or even a fantasy episode where anything goes, but I still remember laughing my ass off when the Geordie stand-in had his crew beam up. That was unexpected and amazing xD .
Kirk violated the Prime Directive at least 11 times. Picard is formally accused of 9 violations and performs arguably up to 14 onscreen throughout TNG.
I loved Night Court. On it's own it's great but It was on during that time of my life where I was easing away from cartoons. Very few shows actually appealed to me but the humor in this actually had me watching adult shows. It taught me to actually pay attention to the dialogue (or I wouldn't get the joke). In that way it was a gateway to so much more..
When there's no particular reason there would be any laws against androids on the bridge in TOS, certainly none were ever explicitly noted during the original series run.
Martin Maul's character of Bull was hilarious on this show and he was really funny man I really wish they could have brought him back on the new Night Court.

Technically the charges still hold. They can never return to the USA again. Fortunately for them, the USA don't have an extradition treaty with the Federation (if that is indeed where they have gone to). 3 things were going through my head the entire time: 1. Could they not get some color accurate costumes for all the effort they put into all the need dialogue? 2. That’s John Laroquette who played a Klingon standing there. (Too bad Spiner didn’t pop up as well) 3. THUMB OUT DAMMIT! The Vulcan salute is differentiated from Mork’s hand sign and it’s inspiration by the placement of the thumb.
I can understand that and it’s not like they didn’t put effort into what we did get but I can help but be drawn back to that shit film _Fanboys_ whenever they’d show their interpretation of Trekkies.

The actor who dressed as Geordie played Roland Kincaid in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and 4. Kincaid was killed by Freddy Kruger in 4. The actor was Ken Sagoes.
Mike, Brent Spiner had a recurring role on Night Court, as the father of a backwoods family from Appalachia, before he played Data on TNG. That's probably why the writers had the two groups fighting over androids (specifically Data) being on a starship. I can't remember if Spiner showed up on Night Court again after TNG started.
No, he never did, sadly. Guess he was too busy playing Data to do that. As a matter of fact, that's why he was written out of Her Honor when they resumed the next season.

You know,as someone who believes them self to be a fairly normal and well adjusted person,I really hate how much their imprecise use of Star Trek terms irritates me (there's no such thing as a Vulcan death grip!).
However, Spock does mention the Vulcan Death Grip whether it's real or not. Spock used it to fake Kirk's death in front of a Romulan Commander. (Season 3 - The Enterprise Incident) However, they did get it wrong here. Spock put his hand on Kirk's face to do the death grip. It does exist as a trick. Vulcan Death Grip is also the name of a song which I have not heard yet. Not really interested in hearing it. Curiosity might get the better of me some day.
I admit I did have to look it up to jog my memory because I remembered Death Grip being mentioned in the series. I watched TOS very often when I was like 4 or 5 years old - before having a VCR and before any movies or spin-offs were made. Kept watching those reruns. I also watched TAS whenever any channel managed to show it.

There is an episode of TOS though were ambassador Sarek is framed for murder by use of the Vulcan death grip. Apparently it is an old Vulcan technique that isn't used any more because Vulcan don't kill people as much as they used to.

I never got tired of Night Court. It always made me laugh.
Remember when being this obsessed about a TV show was weird?
I loved Night Court. On it's own it's great but It was on during that time of my life where I was easing away from cartoons. Very few shows actually appealed to me but the humor in this actually had me watching adult shows. It taught me to actually pay attention to the dialogue (or I wouldn't get the joke). In that way it was a gateway to so much more..
It's hard to believe that TNG was on when Night Court was still on, time sure flies.
What an opportunity the writers missed by having Judge Harry outnerd the _mind meld_ defense.
They're debating androids on the bridge of the Enterprise, and Brent Spiner was in an episode of the same show.
When there's no particular reason there would be any laws against androids on the bridge in TOS, certainly none were ever explicitly noted during the original series run.

3 things were going through my head the entire time:
1. Could they not get some color accurate costumes for all the effort they put into all the need dialogue?
2. That’s John Laroquette who played a Klingon standing there. (Too bad Spiner didn’t pop up as well)
3. THUMB OUT DAMMIT! The Vulcan salute is differentiated from Mork’s hand sign and it’s inspiration by the placement of the thumb.
I assume the costumes are bad because that's part of the joke. Either that or they wouldn't be allowed exact copies by the studio
I can understand that and it’s not like they didn’t put effort into what we did get but I can help but be drawn back to that shit film _Fanboys_ whenever they’d show their interpretation of Trekkies.

Mike, Brent Spiner had a recurring role on Night Court, as the father of a backwoods family from Appalachia, before he played Data on TNG. That's probably why the writers had the two groups fighting over androids (specifically Data) being on a starship. I can't remember if Spiner showed up on Night Court again after TNG started.
No, he never did, sadly. Guess he was too busy playing Data to do that. As a matter of fact, that's why he was written out of Her Honor when they resumed the next season.

You know,as someone who believes them self to be a fairly normal and well adjusted person,I really hate how much their imprecise use of Star Trek terms irritates me (there's no such thing as a Vulcan death grip!).
However, Spock does mention the Vulcan Death Grip whether it's real or not. Spock used it to fake Kirk's death in front of a Romulan Commander. (Season 3 - The Enterprise Incident) However, they did get it wrong here. Spock put his hand on Kirk's face to do the death grip. It does exist as a trick.
Vulcan Death Grip is also the name of a song which I have not heard yet. Not really interested in hearing it. Curiosity might get the better of me some day.
I admit I did have to look it up to jog my memory because I remembered Death Grip being mentioned in the series. I watched TOS very often when I was like 4 or 5 years old - before having a VCR and before any movies or spin-offs were made. Kept watching those reruns. I also watched TAS whenever any channel managed to show it.
