Firas, when do you think its too late to start training MMA if you want to seriously compete. Take the best case scenario, where the guy is natural and learns insanly quickly :)
Even at the age of 20 is already too late for serious competition, most fighter who started their career late, maybe at their 28 or 30 already do some serious training since 15, even Brock Lesnar already doing real wrestling since high school, and most champion and ranked fighter started their training since 5 to 8 years old. So by the calculation, even if you training everyday for 5 hours, they still had 10,000 hours more experience than you, so it's completely impossible. If you want to know an example, just looks at Ben Askren, he starting late and lazy, his fighting career wouldn't go anywhere.
Specific training bro Example: you want to build good bjj cardio? You need to roll a lot (if fight lasts 5 min etc. you do it 10), also include high tempo low tempo where you give it all for like 30 sec and than roll light for 1min, than you periodise your training so you have shorter light intervals the closer you are to competition. Hope it makes sense :P
Firas answered brilliantly answered the question of “rough rollers”. The guy always wants to win and I get it like who doesn’t want to win but I’m more in flow roll and learn and learn I don’t care about winning unless it’s a competition and even then I still want to learn. Does that have to do with ethics of the academy?
hello coach firas, i think that long, slow paced running, is good for recovery days, pn weekends for examples, and it's good, in terms of developing mental toughness, do you agree?
Im having my first mma in February. Im a white belt with 2 jit strips lol but im tough my background is karate and boxing. Should i do a grappling tournaments first or should i just practice with no gi.
Hope I’m not wrong but you need to bring the most appropriate specifications during training, therefore sprints variations would bring more benefits intensity wise for a combat sport. Not only sprints, but circuit training methods. Training at 85-90 even 95% HR reproduces the similarities of a combat effort. Sure, you can still use LSD 65-75% HR (long slow distance) running in unloading or recovery periods..
Hi, I have a boy who is very passionate about contact sports (wrestling, muay thai, boxing, MMA) He is 7 years old. I wanted to ask you to tell me what would be the best way to develop his motor skills and to become a complete fighter (if he likes it and further) what would be the order of sports he should follow to develop completely. What should we fill the window of opportunity with between 7 and 10 years old? Thank you!
What motor skills or other things could they better develop now, between 6 and 10 years old, to become a good fighter (which would be harder to develop after that age)? What exactly should we focus on to get the best out of those 3-4 years? Specifically what should and shouldn't we do? Thank you!
I‘m not an expert but i would say a sport that concentrates on similar movements that contact sports do like hip rotation, footwork, throwing etc. I‘m really proud of you for trying to fullfill your sons dream, pls follow through with your plan it could change his life!!

I could listen Firas talk about doing laundry all day and it would still be interesting.

How much training is necessary to become a pro? I feel like he didn't actually answer the question.
What about if you have school and can train 6 days a week
Train at home until you can basic calisthenics or mobility or yoga shadow boxing etc. You can always train just don't over train

Labor workers can handle working 8 hours a day 5 days a week. If we trained the same hours as labor workers, our bodies would be in fantastic shape!
Also some labour workers just stand around and smoke cigarettes. I've worked labor and I know some guys that weren't in shape at all
