I like to mix canned chicken (drained) with Alfredo sauce, shredded Provolone, shredded Parmesean, and some pepper. Spoon onto French bread slices and bake until bubbly. I also make Knorr noodles (or rice) with a twist. Cook Knorr according to package directions. About halfway through cooking time, add canned chicken (drained) and frozen peas. Continue cooking until noodles are done, and have a one pot meal ;)

My mom makes chicken roll ups with canned chicken. So it’s canned chicken, ranch, cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, seasonings (salt, pepper, garlic powder) and then you spread it on tortillas and slice it up. It’s literally so delicious and I always ask for them when I host a party.

Hi Mandy, love the recipes . Here is a tip, that chicken juice in the can of chicken has a really good flavor. It enhances every recipe I use it in. If I'm not using it in the recipe my kitty cat loves it as a treat. She comes running when I open the can. Many people think it's really salty but it's not, it has about a much as chicken broth. Just thought I would share that with you. I would like to see recipes using crescent dough, either the individual ones or the the crescent dough sheets.

My family uses canned chicken for enchiladas. They are delicious! 2 cans of chicken, tortillas, rotel, 2 small cans of cream chicken soup, 1 cup of sour cream, shredded colby. Rinse and shred the chicken, in a bowl mix soup, sour cream, and rotel.. put a few spoonfuls of chicken in each tortilla with a little filling and shredded cheese. Save the rest of the filling and cheese for the top.. bake at 425 for about twenty minutes or until bubbly. I usually get 7- 8. I've been making these since I was a teenager, for over ten years. My kids devour these!

TY! I too, keep canned chicken in the pantry. I buy the stack of 4 cans when Walmart has them on sale ~ I buy 2 stacks of 4 cans = 8 cans, and I primarily use them for many versions of chicken salad. I make my own salad dressing, BTW. My favorite chicken salad recipe is 1 can of chicken salad, minced onion, minced cornichons, or sweet gherkins, or halved seedless green grapes, and coarsely chopped walnuts. I add a little cracked pepper and enough mayo to coat everything. I prepare this ahead of time so that all the ingredients can get acquainted. Serving this chicken salad on croissants, I agree wholeheartedly, is the only choice.

I stocked up on Sam’s canned chicken in 1999. There were rumors about “stuff” happening when the century changed to 2000. So, the year changed any nothing happened, and I had all this chicken. I started making my “Y2K-sadillas”. I drained the chicken, added grated cheese and picante sauce. I put this mixture on a flour tortilla, added extra cheese on top, topped with another tortilla and browned in the skillet. I cut into wedges and served with sour cream and picante sauce. I’m still making them now.

I rarely used canned chicken until recently. Now it is a staple in my emergency pantry. Bumble Bee chicken has less sodium than most other brands and the salt is easy to rinse out. I also save the drained liquid to add to broth or soups as it is easily stored in the freezer.

Mandy.. don't know if you do this or not, but if you will put the pizza stone into the oven and heat it to the 400° before you start putting your items on, it will begin cooking the bottom of the crust while you are layering it. You just have to be careful as you're laying your sauce and toppings on. It's absolutely delicious that way.
I also put a little bit of olive oil around the crust, when it comes out of the oven but before I put the sauce on. That's only if I'm making a regular pizza. Got the tip from a young man who was attending a cooking school.

I love this video idea-- keep the canned chicken series coming. It's so neat to see what others might use it for. I typically only use it for making chicken salad, BUT I have used it once in chicken casserole, when in a pinch on time. No one was the wiser. :)
Edited to say, I could see canned chicken being a delicious addition for making a chicken cheese steak for a quick night meal. Warm chicken through on the stove with some spices, melt some cheese on top, put into a roll, and air fry to get the bread crisped up. YUMMY!
I bet this would also be delicious used in a chicken florentine ring (like you would make on a baking stone), YUM!

I became addicted to Arby's Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich. You can imagine my heartache when I went to get my weekly sandwich and to be told it is a seasonal item and won't be on the menu until next summer. I would not settle for that!! So after some brainstorming. I made up a list of the ingredients that were in it and proceeded to trying to copy the salad. I have to admit, when I first saw the sandwich on the menu, I thought it was weird, but I am a foodie and like trying different foods. I purchased the sandwich, but also got French Dip in case I didn't like it. BOY WAS I WRONG! I make this salad all the time now (just can't get enough of it). I don't measure, just eyeball and go with my taste buds. Ingredients are chopped celery, cubed Honey Crisp Apple (squeeze lemon juice over all the apples to prevent them from changing color), Red Seedless Grapes halved, 2 cans of drained chicken, chopped Pecans. I still haven't figured out the dressing they use, but what I make is close enough and good. For the dressing, I use mayonnaise with just a dab or pinch of sugar in it to give it a little sweetness. Then I stir it all together. The crunch & salty of the nuts mixed with the sweetness of the apples and grapes, then add in the savory chicken...............OMG!! Sometimes I spread it on bread for a sandwich, or on a romaine lettuce leaf for a roll, or just by itself. Now I have to go make some more! I also use the canned chicken when I make soups, I like adding chopped Green Chiles to almost all my soups or casseroles for that extra kick of flavor. Thank you for sharing these recipes, I will have to try them when I have more room in my freezer. I freeze my leftovers for those days when I just don't feel like cooking and doing dishes. Yep! I am lazy in my old age! Thank you for all the wonderful recipes you share with us.

I haven't had Arby's chicken salad sandwich but if it's anything like the Napa Chicken salad at Panera, I'm almost certain that I would 😊
I found a dupe recipe for the dressing online though and it is spot on! 👌
All it is is Dukes Mayo, a drizzle of honey, fresh lemon juice, sour cream or Greek yogurt, a little basil, onion powder, and dried ground mustard (go super easy on the ground mustard it is very potent it only takes a pinch...too much and it will give an awfully bitter taste), a little salt and pepper and you're good to go!
Like you I really don't precisely measure anything, I just mostly eyeball and go on taste. I mix the dressing in a separate bowl and then add it to my chicken. I usually always have cubed apples, pecans or walnuts (depending on what I have on hand). Sometimes I'll add sliced grapes or even a little grated sharp cheddar.
I prefer to make it with a rotisserie chicken I pick up at Walmart or Costco but I've made it many times with the canned chicken and it's still amazingly good.
I think the secret is the ground mustard and the honey...before I had found that recipe, I had never thought about adding either of those ingredients to my chicken salad.
Lol that first day I made it like that and tasted it...I was like, YES!! I did it! ❤😊

We always keep canned chicken in our pantry. We use it primarily for chicken salad and chicken alfredo. The pizza looks amazing, and as you were making it I thought to myself I would swap the poblano pepper for a bell pepper, and add pineapple. It made my pineapple pizza loving heart happy to see you add it on at the end! I think you should consider adding a pantry staple video for oatmeal. It may seem weird, but I add it into my meatloaf instead of bread crumbs. You can't even tell it's in there, but it's so delicious!

This is a terrific go-to recipe. you can also add a packet of dry hidden valley ranch mix with the taco seasoning, it adds a lot of flavor. I'm usually doing it with ground beef and w/o the green chili sauce. But the canned chicken is great to have on hand. In fact.. with the economy they way it's headed and food shortages on the horizon it's a real good idea to have a bunch of canned items on hand. chicken , tuna, salmon, etc. they last a long time.

Thank you for your recipes. Yes, we keep canned chicken in our pantry. Hoping to do my own canning soon. One of hubby's favorites is a chicken ramen soup. I put 2 cups water in a sauce pan on high. Chop 1/2 an onion and toss it in. Slice 1 med carrot (or chop if a big one) and toss it in. Add about 2 handfuls of frozen cut green beans and bring to a boil. Once boiling add 1 can chicken breast with the broth. Cover and bring back to a boil. I break up the chicken a little bit so they are not big chunks. Add the bullion packet to the boiliing water, break the ramen in quarters and cook 3-4 minutes covered. I let it stand about 15 minutes to absorb some of the broth and to cool a bit. Stir and it is ready.

I love to use canned chicken. My favorite thing to do with it is to get the Knorr pasta sides or Pasta Roni or anything similar and cook it per the box directions, then add cream cheese, canned chicken, some kind of vegetable (peas, green beans, broccoli etc) and top with some shredded cheese. Great for customization by not adding the cream cheese or using different veggies or different kinds of cheese. Quick and easy meal!

Pineapple would be fantastic on that! I never used to use canned chicken, but when we started worrying about supply chain issues and food shortages, we started adding it to the pantry. Now I use it quite a lot, and am always pleasantly surprised by the results. I always rinse mine in warmth water when I drain it, and it eliminates the canned taste completely. We just finished up a southwest chicken and rice casserole I made with it that my family went crazy for. But I most often use it fir chicken salad sandwiches, chicken fritters, and melts. All are a great book club food.

Hi Mandy! Great recipes in this video. I am looking forward to trying them. I think Gracie Lou was meowing so much because she wanted chicken not cheese. Cats are carnivores so they love meat. Try giving her some chicken and I bet she gobbles it up!!! My cat, Jessie is now 18 years old and a little diva. When she wants something she will meow and meow until she gets it. My cat loves cheese and meat!!!! Have a super week. 🐱💟💖

I agree I think Gracie was saying she wanted chicken not cheese!
I am cat person and so I totally get this comment. They say dogs have owners cats have staff for a reason. Your Jessie sounds wonderful. My mom got a cat when she was pregnant with me. Mitzie lived to be 21 years old. She was half pure bred registered Siamese and half really lucky barn cat. With her being half Siamese you can imagine the personality. The joke in our house was I needed to mind my P’s & Qi’s because the cat had seniority. 🐈🐈🐈
I was going to comment about my opinion on pineapple on pizza 🤮 but then I saw the raw tomato in your recipes and I thought maybe I just won’t say anything. 😁 I feel about raw tomato the way Steven feels about cream cheese in savoury dishes. LOL. I am mostly thumbs down on cilantro’s but i like Thai food so I can take it in small doses. I can’t wait to make that soup it looks delicious. And I think I even have everything in the house already.
