This woman is one of the reasons all of us are paying more for groceries and other products. This criminal stole over 60.000 dollars in items and doesn't think she belongs in court. She deserves to go to prison she stole more in items, than people make in a year.

We used to charge and prosecute shoplifting each time it happened; this would give the criminal a record of misdemeanor theft, for which they would typically get probation + restitution. Each subsequent incident would increase the penalty, including jail time, which both served as a deterrent as well as removed the subject from society. This basic understanding of crime and punishment is what is lost with the "soft on crime" approach, which results in the fundamental breakdown of society we currently see in places such as San Francisco.

California voters fault bc they voted for prop 47, which meant to ease up the prison of the petty crimes. Can't jail people for stealing, if needed, such as drug addicts, homeless, mental illness or low marijuana usages or dealing. That will clog up the jails & prisons. Taking advantages of prop 47, where's criminals makes a living on it, is another story.
Repeal prop 47 petition, had gotten the minimum signatures & more! Look at vote to Repeal prop 47 in November, if you want to curb the crimes bc can't stop the crimes. Too much is at stake to stop it.

If SFO is serious as DA Brook Jenkins claims, then this thief will be sentenced to jail time. I don't believe the SFO authorities are willing to put their convictions where their mouth is. I believe this thief will receive a slap on the wrist & no jail time. Because of soft-on-crime policies, what was once, one of the most beautiful cities in America, is now a dangerous, crime ridden sewer.

Self checkouts are the problem here. Instead of hiring clerks these businesses chose self checkout machines. I’m 75 yo. 25% of us Americans live alone. I enjoy going to a store to talk and interact with human beings.
Hire human beings!! Be nice to your customers. Most stores have both self checkout AND human cashiers.
