You convinced me to get this car. I now have a Black 2014 Honda Accord Sport with the CVT. This is the best deal in the Accord line up. The seats are supportive and with the fabric you dont really need seat heaters unless you drive naked. I get 33 mpg in the daily 90 mile round trip commute, thus filling up once per week. Pandora and Hands free calling is great. Apart from a few adding on like tinting, splash guards, truck liner, led bulbs, and door sill scuff plates and a just waiting from the aftermarket to come up with something that allows me to mirror my phone interface on the 8 inch screen. The Sport in black with a tasteful tint looks some much more expensive that it price. Great job Honda and Everyman Driver Honda should cut you a check.
Lester Jones what aftermarket thing did u add so u mirrored it !
nice radio voice Dave.
roakc bay Do I have a t.v. voice too?
Everyman Driver Car Reviews maybe a good overall TV presence but that voice is all radio...at least that's the impression I get.
Need to redline it! If you changed gear at 5500rpm, it's below the peak power...
you shouldn't launch at more than 4000rpm, or the wheel spin really kills the time, my best is 6.7s at no altitude in a summer morning, peak torque is at 3900s, 1st to 2nd shift at 6500ish before the rev lim close the throttle , 2nd gear redlines at 65-70mph, launch at 3500 ish gives the best traction with the stock tires,
Fanjing Liu Thank you for the advice.
Fanjing Liu Nice!!!
Neat!!!
Everyman Driver just small tip, traction off, little less revs and make sure the wheel is straight first, so 1 wheel dosent just spin. great video though man, getting better at hem for sure
My 2014 Accord EX-L does 0-60 in around 7.2-7.5 seconds here on Long Island.
Overall, nice videos Dave. The last few vids made me subscribe. I loved the MDX off-road video, and these 0-60s are actually cool since most "everyman driver's" aren't actually race car drivers.
Lemuel Taylor I appreciate it. Our goal is to be the go-to channel for 'everyman drivers' everywhere :-)
I watch more Everyman driver than I do /DRIVE 😳, keep the good content coming 👍
Good job Dave! You improve with every video!
Lol 'yeah dawg' love this guy
The accord needs to be redlined to get the best results.
Mine is 2014 sport manual in black. It's awesome and fun to drive. I wished it came with moonroof as standard though.
Vtec all day baby great review Dave
I think you always shift into 2nd too early. You can bounce it off the rev limit in 1st a little bit before you shift.
I HATE MY MAZDA6!!!! ugh I wish I bought this car! love the sound too
I have the same car except mine is a 2013, it is awesome.
If this car comes standard with a sunroof and keyless start as the EX model the it's even better. The EX model has these two feature but lack the sporting looks.
He would get his best times if he revved it less (say only 2000 - 2500 rpm) without traction control, and rev it to the redline, it has vtec.
The reason why you need to drive a honda all the way to red line it's cus around 6500 vtec kicks in which pushes more oil in to your your camshaft through the vtec solenoid and makes you're cams elevate higher than normal to make more power on higher rpms . Just like Vvti on Toyota but better hehe.
It's like having normal camchafts throughout the the lower rpms and then having some street racing cams at higher rpms .
Nice work, enjoy it.
damn, he seems like a swell guy, amazing drive test! keep it up!
Hell my 10th gen Corolla with the 1.8 and 4-speed does it in 9.7 seconds. Was thinking of buying an Accord Sport but I may have to think about the V6 model instead. Hell of a nice looking car though, whatever engine is in it.
You look like you've been practicing a bit. But you still really need to redline it in each gear. That keeps you the most in the power band.
You have a voice that should do radio. "Good morning folks, you're listening to WJGB....." :-) Sounds a little like Mike Rowe, actually.
+John Grabowski I've heard that before :-)
Haha love the Sandlot reference!
My accord sport 2014 with the CVT at sea level do 0-60 in 6.9 to 7.1 I think that for the accord sport the manual is faster but in the V6 the 6 speed auto is faster than the manual
"Ahhh hahah Ya Dawgg" lool i need him to say this in every video now
Best I've done is 7.5 with TC turned on and shifting into 3rd. maybe its the altitude?
+hhhelix Maybe so? - Dave, Everyman Driver "Working for you!"
To get the best time you need to spin as little as possible. In a front wheel drive where traction is lost because of weigh transfer, you must be more delicate with the accelerator on launch.
how much better is the sport over the regular?
Ty for video!
Hey, that's my little vacation cottage up on that hill.
DroverChicago That view must be amazing! Dave
Everyman Driver
Yeah, but it's nothing compared to the view from my hilltop penthouse in Monaco overlooking the Mediterranean.
He must've had "econ" mode turned on. The major magazines put the car at 6.9 seconds 0-60. Of course he is at 2000 feet asl.
1:53 spinning the wheels off the line costs you a little time right there.
It really cool how many rpm.??
Can't you just wake off in second gear no shifting?
Subscribed
RADIO / TV / LAWYER / SALES MAN/ SAUL GOODMAN VOICE.
why would you let it pull to 7k? the peak power is around 6k...
You make more time not short shifting especially at this speed. You also have an advantage in that your shift is already at a higher rpm making more power
Nice one! Dave.
New Subaru Forester XT (with CVT!) almost 2.5 seconds faster, Dave!
I'd say for your next video you got a driving school to get pointers on 0-60mph and track driving. I think it be a different and refreshing.
So is anyone willing to tell me how it is my 2012 Civic EX-L gets to 60 quicker than 9 seconds too? Literally I've timed my Civic and it's faster than the times you're getting. I'm just trying to figure out how.
i know this is a I-4, but does anyone know if the V6 accord sedan can be had without leather?
It cant
Yeah Dog!!!
Timpala44 :-)
I have a 2016 Coupe V6 Touring and 0-60 is 5.6 sec
Funny lancers do 0-60 7.7 seconds es manual. Done it plenty of times.
7.1 WITH 2017 ACCORD SPORT CVT SEA LEVEL.
I wanna see 0-60 in the V6. Supposedly 6.5 seconds.
I kept up with a sl65 benz in my accord sport hahahaha
sure you did. He was probably just cruising while you were giving it the full beans.
How did you manage to get a better time in the accord sport compared to the civic si which has more hp and less weight
Biggie Smalls lucky or unlucky :-)
hp doesnt mean much if it doesnt have torque(i think)
Biggie Smalls the gearing is different on the sport
Dan Patrick?
How much can someone spend on gas like weekly or biweekly or monthly please? Cuz I'm thinking of getting but don't want to spend a lot of $ on gas. This publicly for Anyone comment who has one or experience on it?
I got the v6 engine and I spend around 30$ per 4-5 days with Eco on
+eli li wow that's good. So if it's a 7 days it'll be 50-55$ if I'm not mistaken
+Michel Lette I keep my foot pedal friendly and turn on Eco, for one week yes it's around 55-60
+eli li that's good sir.
+Michel Lette that's impossible to give you a relevant answer, but with today's gas prices (1.95) and driving 500 miles a week for work, I'm paying about $30 a week
Most part of this depends on driver behavior :)
"dawg"
ahahahahah
But still great review
Dude you can not drive a manual. None of your 0-60 runs come close to the magazines. You never feather the clutch like u should. Dumping the clutch= slowest times.
My 2013 Accord Sport is faster than this. I bet you had the econ mode on the whole time -_-
MatTZI014 Wanna bet? :-)
MatTZI014 no its just that Everyman Driver doesent know how to use VTEC he shifts way to early THATS WHY!!!
this dude cant drive my 98 accord is faster
+Don Heston It's not that he cant drive, lol..he's just shifting to early is all, not really an ideal 0-60 tester.
Motor trend has more cams
Yeah, but only those guys, right? This is very impressive by Dave....
In all these sub 200hp midsized sedans...Altima (4), Mazda 6, Camry (4), Sonata...don't expect better than an 8 sec 0 to 60 at best.
+sdnative Um this car can get 6.5-7.0 in with an i-4 manual and 7.1-7.2 in I-4 CVT.
You're short shifting, spinning the tires way too much... good journalism if you consider that this is about as good as an average driver will do, but really not showing the real capabilities of the car. Shift at the redline. When you launch, give it a little bit of revs and go about half throttle to 3/4 throttle and slowly get on the gas more as the car hooks up. It sounds like you are just flooring it and letting the clutch out and letting traction control sort it out.... or just waiting for the tires to eventually hook up, and since these cars have so little power, they will hook up eventually. You need to launch in a way that borders the limits of traction while giving the maximum amount of power possible. As in, minimal to no wheelspin, while also not giving so little gas that you are too slow. Try launching like this in a RWD car the same way you are doing here and you will end up in one of those trees in the background.
this car isn't that powerful where you have to do those things. it's just not a very fast car, period. this is an 8 to 8.5 second car at the elevation he's at. or maybe 7.5 at sea level. The reports of this car being in the 6 second range are hogwash, going downhill type of recording.
I bet you don't smalls love you
If you are interested in the Accord and in the Maryland/DC area, feel free to ask for Andy at Jim Coleman Honda. 443.991.7201. There's several reasons why we sell the most Honda's in the area
Lol my dad actually bought his 2014 EX CVT from Jim Coleman
Very glad to hear that. We are a really good store
agherbie
Yup, I was there too when I bought it
