    I always wondered why roadservive people follow what others do, they buy a new/used regular size pick up truck with storage on sides but can't fit tires along with an air compressor and stuff. This here gad crossed my mind before and would of followed thru but I am not in the field of a road service repair man. Just a truck driver and a few mechanical repairs of my own on my semi truck. Congrats to you my friend you will get far.

    Great Video Ryan! I really like the truck. What stood out the most for me is the dual line for the compressor, solid for 1” impact and great to switch to regular line for rest of air tools. Can’t wait to see your reel for the 100’ gas hoses. Clean and hope parts stay on the shelf 😬

    Just spent $60k building a service truck and all I can hear from the tech is whining and complaints....glad to see there are those of you out there that work with what you can get. If you've got some time would love to hear your input on what we put together.
    Also, if you would reach out so I can put you on my vendor list, we've got trucks out there semi infrequently but it's a desert. We run mostly Cascadias with DD13s so if you're setup with the dealer and on Excelerator that would be ideal.

    I've had a mobile service on a major resort lake for 8 years already had the customer base for last 24 years and I stay very busy on boats pwc's and utv's and this would work great for me I now work out of a 2017 pickup but I just cant justify the fuel spent etc for my line of work. when I have a major repair I haul it to my shop where I also have my torch chain hoist welder tv radio etc. But this would work for me but Being in Texas I would have a window AC and generator as man does it get hot here. I do see how on a diesel rig this would be needed and its set up nice! Boats have a shop rate like diesels too 100-120 hr plus service call. But wear shorts and dont get greasy I worked in a farm tractor dealership for 3 years lots of diesel but never again. But your set up is nice and most everything you need except parts. I do wish I had a large compressor and parts washer with me at times.

    That’s a nice setup. My 13 speed is making awful noises in 13th gear. Can’t even use it. Sometimes will do it in other gears with the splitter forward. This started a day after my air system went crazy. I had to replace governor and dryer. May be unrelated. Thoughts?

    Awesome setup! One more question: Are mobile service mechanics allowed to repair trucks at truck stops or must the truck be off the property?

    • @poonbandit9924
      @poonbandit9924 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the truck stop. Some allow it and some don’t. Most of the time stops allow mobile techs to do repairs if they don’t also have a shop, but not always, there are also many stops that say it’s fine for a mobile tech to come work on a truck, but if the tech can’t facilitate repairs in the lot then they have to recommend the customer goes to their shop. This is only what I have observed from the truck stops around my shop. The shop I manage actually doesn’t do tires even though every one of my sister stores does and the company is a continental tire dealer, my reasoning is that I want and encourage the mobile tire guys to replace the tires on my lot instead of the side of the road, this is for the safety of a fellow technician as well as the customer gets the tires replaced and decides to get an alignment, remembers they need a service, wants a hole patched in the trailer or whatever. Business goes around and comes around some people are open to help from competition and some aren’t. By allowing mobile guys to do tires the shop has made $22k more on average quarterly then when we did do tires.

    I'm in the process of starting my own mobile diesel repair business (roadside and on-site). The only thing I'm unsure about, is dealing with big companies and the payment process associated with it. Do they pay just like a regular customer or do they make you wait a time period? Any input would be great.

    • @truckingandfixing
      @truckingandfixing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is really how you negotiate with the companies, you can do net30 term etc or you can have them to pay after each job. Most of my customers are smaller, they paid after the job. Make sure to get a payment processor that accept different cards.

    Nice set up very professional practical and not over the top. I used to be a mechanic myself and if I was still I would have a set up similar to that one.
    I was wondering if I could get your opinion on this hypothetical. If you were a brand new authority and could afford to pay for the insurance in one payment wold you?
    Why or why not? I am a one truck one owner llc s corp and plan on running hard for at leas the first year to make as much as I can to help pay for my kids college and some other repairs and add ons i want to make to my home then I will get back to life lol.
    Thank you for your service in the military as well as here civilly for us Jack of all trades.

    • @truckingandfixing
      @truckingandfixing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you run very hard, assuming out most of the days. Authority makes sense. But if you only run half of the days, it doesn’t make sense. The fixed cost is very high.

    Great set up. I’ve been thinking of starting a mobile mechanic business where I’m living. My biggest question is how are you disposing of your fluids? I know parts stores will take used oil but only like 5 gallons a month. Do you call a service to come out and take your used oil? Like the shops and dealerships use?

    • @truckingandfixing
      @truckingandfixing  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a good question! When we had the mobile service truck, we were lucky, never had someone not paying. Now, we do have people that can’t pay the bill right away, but we work with them. Worst scenario we can remove parts from the truck or put a mechanic lien on their truck.
