Actually according to John fogerty, it was written about to many guns in America back in 1970. The population was around 200 million then and the jungle was America. One gun for every man woman and child. It just happened to fit Vietnam too. I’m from back in the day. Was a military spouse and have been a ccr fan from day one. Fan of your channel too. ☮️

Hello, Mr. Van! Starting my day with CCR's bluesy soul! This song always seems to have something hidden, just on the other side of a thin veil - as if one could only push it aside, a startling revelation would appear. And of course, that revelation is war. FYI, CCR NEVER had a #1 song on American Billboard. They only made it to #2. They was ROBBED! A few other CCR songs you may want to react to:. "Lookin' Out My Back Door", a fun song about mind-altering substances; "Down On The Corner", a nod to inner-city street musicians; & "Travelin' Band", a rocker that'll bring you to your feet on the very 1st note. Really love your reactions, Van. They're how I start each day now. Thanks for lettin' the good times roll!

@Van I don’t know if this is what you meant when you were saying this sounded like music you’d hear in a country/ rural area, but they always reminded me of Cajun country . As if this music came straight out of the Bayou’s of deep Louisiana swamp and backwoods cabins down there. I was born and lived in Louisiana til 12 yrs old. Our kindergarten field trip one day was to an Alligator farm where I remember holding a baby one in my little kindergartner’s hand. But that was only 1 of the best things about that class. The other was that my first “boyfriend”, Ricky, was there too bc it was his grandad’s farm we visited. Ricky and I were each other’s boyfriend/girlfriend because we’d save each other places in line, help each other with things, and thought each other was cute❣️☺️😍

I love your appreciation and innate understanding of music. You have a good grasp on life and reality. Your life experiences appear have done you well. Your son is doing a great job. You have done a wonderful job of raising him. You are a person with impact because you have persevered and overcome adversity. That's what makes you stand out. It's great to give back, isn't it? That is because we generally receive more back than we give if given with a sincere heart. Now your true personality is shining through and that is what people are craving and responding to. We want real people with genuine motives. Blessings to you and your family. Keep bringing us great music to enjoy. I love some of the obscure cuts you have done such as Albert King and Stevie Ray playing the blues together. You seem to really know music. Please bring more of those superb cuts that are not so commonly known. Have you done Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa covering I'd Rather Go Blind? It will blow you away. The vocals and guitar are inspired by a higher being. Cheers from Canada

I read somewhere that Fogerty said the song was about guns in America. But it fits right into the Viet Nam scene, too. As for other CCR tunes to try, I suggest the deceptively simple tune “Don’t Look Now.” Less than three minutes and the best riff on class.

The Vietnam war was on everyone's mind during this time. My Dad and Uncle's did their part in this one. Stand and show respect to all our Veterans. Stand.

The singer of this group John Fogerty has some solos. One that's really good is 110 in the shade

Another great Creedence Clearwater reaction, Van! Have you done Suzy Q yet? Another good one 😀. About 25 years ago drove from NJ to Maine and my sister and I listened to my CCR Greatest Hits CD the whole ride 💖.

This song was about the Vietnam War someplace we as a country should have never been. My best friend at that time older brother was in Vietnam and when he came home he never was the same. Sad but true! We should have never been there in the first place! A very tumultuous time in my life!
