It’s fascinating how many of the comments are so critical and mocking about this family - but the two teens sobbed like their hearts were breaking when they had to leave. The teens learned to love, respect and admire this good family and they felt better about themselves by the time they left - I think that says more about the Pecks than any of the snarky comments left here.
Those comments are left by those who had similar childhoods but haven't grown yet. I personally understand that. It took me so long to wake up, I'm glad I did. It's because of God.
